@mibbelucieachwell

I THINK 5% is classed by WHO as out of control if it's 5% of random tests for sampling purposes.
Yep this but not meant to be 5% of those who have sought a test! It gets my goat when SG use it as reasoning as its not the same bloody data!
Pootle40 · 13/06/2021 19:52

@latissimusdorsi

5% positivity rate. Is that not officially classed as out of control?
Not sure if it remains relevant post vaccinated world
WouldBeGood · 13/06/2021 20:41

@Pootle40 if only

I’m double jagged now so a full on smunt.

Nice one, 3 more weeks until I'm due my second.

WouldBeGood · 13/06/2021 20:59

The perks of age, @Pootle40 😃

DieSchottin93 · 14/06/2021 10:21

Finally got an appointment through for my first jab 🥳 tiny bit miffed it's not til next week seeing as I'd registered before lunchtime the day registrations opened and they were apparently being allocated in order of when people registered 🤔🤔 but luckily for me I'm off when I get my jab so I won't have to rejiggle yet another shift at work.

charliebrown59 · 14/06/2021 10:26

If we are early-ish 40s, do we need to register for the second jab to get it at 8 weeks or just wait for second blue letter?

I've totally lost track.

ResilienceWanker · 14/06/2021 10:51

I've lost track too! I think we have to wait charlie - but there was something in the news yesterday that we should try to move forward scheduled appointments to 8 weeks (having been told previously to only reschedule appointments if absolutely necessary). Though I'm not even sure if people would know when their appointment is due if they don't get a blue letter until a few days beforehand. Seems a bit weird. Maybe fill in the missed appt form at about 6 or 7 weeks and see if anything is in the system that can be moved forwards? I only had my first about 3 weeks ago so I've got a bit longer to wait. Never been so impatient to get on with something!

charliebrown59 · 14/06/2021 10:53

Well quite especially if at the back end of the summer being double jabbed is the winning ticket for being allowed out-out!

SempreSuiGeneris · 14/06/2021 11:34

If you're over 40 you are being encouraged to use the on-line tool to bring forward your 2nd jag - was press about it over the weekend. AFICS no need to wait for an appointment letter. Lots of places also setting up drop in arrangements.

SoMuchForSummerLove · 14/06/2021 11:42

How are you meant to do it online if you don't know your login details?

DH might be able to bring his forward but doesn't have the letter from his first appointment with his details on it.

Why is it such a faff? That link above just takes you to a site that says if you're over 40 you should 'be patient when waiting for your second dose invitation'. Hmm

It's a bit of a mess.

ResilienceWanker · 14/06/2021 11:50

I agree somuch. They really don't make it easy! Fwiw, my username is my first name, dot, first 2 letters of my surname, then 007 Grin. Not sure if all health boards have the same format. And you presumably need to try 001, 002 etc too!

I've just checked, and there's nothing in the system for me on vacs.nhs.scot/csp. But I was only jagged first on the 27th may, so it's a bit of a wait still.

SoMuchForSummerLove · 14/06/2021 11:52

Actually yes my username was similar, I might try and set up an account for him. Thanks!

SoMuchForSummerLove · 14/06/2021 11:54

Ooh I did it! Nothing there for him either though, he's only five weeks post-first jab anyway.

Pootle40 · 14/06/2021 13:39

I also have a similarly daft username! I logged on yesterday (my first was 5th May) but nothing about my 2nd although I figure 30th June will be first date I am eligible as that is 8 weeks after the first.

SoMuchForSummerLove · 14/06/2021 13:42

Very easily hackable isn't it! Yes, DH was around the 5th as well so still a while to wait maybe.

Bytheloch · 14/06/2021 13:48

Missed this earlier- Variant likely to delay lockdown exit by 10 weeks in Scotland.

Jason Leitch said it this morning on the radio apparently?!

SoMuchForSummerLove · 14/06/2021 13:52

Could have just said 'Google it' but I won't Grin

Here you go: I don't think that's actually what he said, no. Bit of dramatic headline never killed the MSM though.

WouldBeGood · 14/06/2021 13:53

Apparently In the US if you’re vaccinated you don’t need to self isolate unless you display symptoms. That makes more sense.

SoMuchForSummerLove · 14/06/2021 13:53

This is what he's quoted as saying:

"Everything still works - distancing, ventilation, handwashing all still works - but what's new about the Delta variant, and this is horrid, and we've learned it increasingly over the last few weeks, is the second dose is required for decent protection.

"You get about 30% protection from one dose, you get 80 to 85% from two.

"So therefore, if you're thinking of this as a timeline, we've lost about eight to 10 weeks on that journey.

But I don't see anything saying restrictions will be continued for that length of time. Maybe he's hinting at that, I don't know.

All my US friends' photos on social media make me jealous!

Ah, great! At least now you have it you can keep checking.
dancemom · 14/06/2021 14:06

This is where I really want to get to! Though do you know how the US is administering the vaccine? The numbers on travelling tabby suggest that about half the population haven't had any vaccine, but of the rest nearly all have been fully vaccinated. Is it free and being given out to everyone in order like here, or is it being done "privately" through insurance or whatnot? Cos I'm not keen on the idea of only the insured being granted this immunity from isolation and everyone else has to lump it. (sorry... Whinging again...And this time it's not even about Scotland OR football)

I do think it's great and I wish the UK/ ScotGov follow suit. Maybe they will with a higher proportion of double vaccination? Though they haven't indicated this is where they're heading. Fingers crossed.

WouldBeGood · 14/06/2021 14:16

@ResilienceWanker the US government is providing the vaccine free to all regardless of insurance or immigration status.
