It doesn't look like there is much difference between Level 2 and Level 1 unless I'm reading it wrong.

Softplay...... (I know many won't care about this one but I do!) Plus more household indoors (3 max) and 12 people outdoors compared to 8.

No 2 hour rule for tables inside.
Up to 100 at a wedding or funeral compared with 50.

@Y0uCann0tBeSer10us

I feel the same way.. although it wont make a lot of difference to my day to day to stay in this level, it does feel like there is no plan to move forward from covid 19.

There is now only 9 months left on the 2 year emergency legislation which allowed the govt to implement lockdown . .. I would have thought the govt should be thinking about life after that point but they seem content not to contemplate it

ResilienceWanker · 01/06/2021 15:20

You're allowed this at the moment (in tier 2) though. In tier one it's 8 people in restaurants/ pubs etc rather than 6 - both from 3 households, but still 6 from 3 in private homes. It is flipping confusing, and I keep having to check - but it's definitely 3 households!

In any case, the changes are quite small, so I really don't see why they couldn't make the changes anyway and keep an eye on the central belt. Especially as I don't think they have any plans to bring down cases in the high areas... And in the meantime the soft play owners are sobbing quietly into their weak orange juice at being kept from earning money their peers in England have been doing safely for a few weeks now.

WouldBeGood · 01/06/2021 15:25

People need to stop cooperating with this asymptomatic testing bollocks.

Lidlfix · 01/06/2021 16:08

It's not bollocks to everyone though. That's why individual choice is important. I am glad I have that choice and so are my colleagues and pupils who readily take part.

She said she's going to announce what'll happen below level 0 in the next couple of weeks.

Sorry I get confused between the changes as they don't marry up to the original set up!

Yes feel very sorry for softplay owners in the central belt and DS has been to softplay in England. Even DH has said he it was well run and he hates the places!

Funfairs is the other weird one I don't get why it's not allowed til level one they are outdoors for peats sake!

WouldBeGood · 01/06/2021 16:20

Just ups “cases”; and thus restrictions. Can’t be doing with it at all.

I used to think it was ok if it was an option, but now would like to see it scrapped as I’m sick of being locked up for no good reason. Fine if they stop linking the two.

Mistressinthetulips · 01/06/2021 16:37

Regular asymptomatic testing is one of the mitigations put in in schools to protect staff and students. As there's bugger all else really. Don't see why that should be thrown away. It's not compulsory, no one is made to do it. But it makes many of us who have to go into those environments (and are not fully vaccinated - I only know one teacher who has had both) feel safer.

WouldBeGood · 01/06/2021 16:42

I’m sick of being locked up to make other people feel safer now.

Fine, test away, but don’t equate cases with the need for restrictions. (That’s to the SG)

Had it with all of this.

I’ll pop back to railing now.

I don't know why it's bollocks, I like to keep a check on it to make sure I'm not asymptomatically spreading it around 🤷🏻‍♀️

It's really hard not to be rude in response to this tbh. Can't decide if it's selfish, stupid or both! 🤷🏻‍♀️
WouldBeGood · 01/06/2021 16:56

Luckily, you didn’t try not to be rude @forfucksakenett 😃

forfucksakenett · 01/06/2021 16:56

I did! I just didn't manage it. Sorry. Blush

WouldBeGood · 01/06/2021 16:59

I can only aspire to your wisdom and selflessness.

Off to drink heavily and breathe on randoms passing my house. Or maybe blow bubbles!!

SoMuchForSummerLove · 01/06/2021 16:59

Why would you breathe COVID SPHERES on everyone @WouldBeGood why why??

ssd · 01/06/2021 17:00

Wouldbegood, you're not locked up to make other folk feel safer. Are you not feeling locked up cos you're wfh now?

SoMuchForSummerLove · 01/06/2021 17:16

I don't think I get the testing thing. Isn't it better for those who want restrictions lifted for the negative tests to be really high, so that the % of positives becomes really low?

Pootle40 · 01/06/2021 17:40

Amen to that

OMG - I read some of that thread yesterday! I can only believe a lot of people are really, really taking the piss... (it was the "bubble virologists" that got me Grin)
SoMuchForSummerLove · 01/06/2021 17:48

Oh has it resurfaced again? I only remember someone posting about it last year. Maybe there's more than one Bubble Mentalist.

ResilienceWanker · 01/06/2021 17:57

My head goes round in circles on the asymptomatic testing thing. On the one hand, I can see that if someone is caught early enough, before they develop symptoms (or even truly asymptomatic) that will stop them potentially passing it on over those 2 or 3 days - which has to be good. Potentially stop someone (or several others) catching it - and possibly becoming ill themselves. And minimising the amount of virus out there in the population multiplying and mutating and whatnot.

But on the other hand - until those other people are recorded as ill, and can be treated themselves - does it really matter who spread it, if they themselves were fine? it only counts as a "case" because the SG has decided they are going to keep track of cases...not because anyone was actually ill.

And on the other hand - I'm still not convinced that asymptomatic people going about their daily business, with all the various restrictions in place are actually that "spready" anyway. It just makes people feel better by using copious amounts of single use plastic whereas the actual spread, as we've discussed before is coming from densely populated housing, non-distanced workplaces, care homes and hospitals and so on. And people with symptoms who can't properly isolate for various reasons. So the asymptomatic people "caught" are pissing in the wind a bit in terms of stopping the majority of spread overall.

So I try not to think about it too much or my head hurts.

WouldBeGood · 01/06/2021 18:13

BMJ article not keen on asymptomatic testing, nor convinced on asymptomatic transmission. Just saying.

Really will fuck off with my Covid globules now

I could be wrong (and it does seem to change a lot) but I don't think the Scottish testing numbers include the lateral flows themselves (this certainly used to be only England, possibly Wales too). I think it's just PCR tests, including those that are done to confirm a lateral flow positive, that are counted. If this is the case I think it might actually inflate the % positive as well as the raw numbers, because this extra group of PDR tests is self selected for known/probable positives if that makes sense, with the background of negatives not considered.
