Not keen on travelling abroad, too scary waiting until just before to see if you test positive or not. Couldnt take the stress especially with kids at school.
I’m taking mine out of school this week coming though to go to the Peak District and Alton towers. Nice wee house with a pool. We are very excited but it’s been stressful watching the news and seeing case numbers going up and wondering if we’ll even make it to next week or be shut up again. Also there’s been covid in the school so I’ve been worried about having to self isolate.

The thought of Portugal is very appealing though, with the rainy forecast continuing. Packing all out waterproofs and wellies

Coquohvan · 19/05/2021 17:03

You can now download your vaccines to the NHS link as England can.

We going to France as soon as on the green list.

WouldBeGood · 19/05/2021 17:15

Oh, that’s handy @Coquohvan, thanks.

I’m desperate to go somewhere warm. Might drive to France if ever allowed.

@rookiemere I went to black Ivy today. So very hot today but outdoors was busy and they sat us right next to the fire 😂😂😂.

Lockdownbear · 19/05/2021 17:26

Please don't tell me you think UK holidays could be up in the air?

Surely to goodness the vaccine has to do something?

I do get we need to try to protect people but really just get on with the blinking vaccine. Every adult it meant to be done for mid July ie English holidays.

I've a couple of proper trips planned and planning a couple of camp trips. I'm scunnered being in this house.

Icannever · 19/05/2021 17:30

@Lockdownbear I’m just panicking because as soon as I decided it was safe to book all this talk of Indian variants and local lockdowns started. I’m fairly sure we’ll get away next week but summer holidays I’m not so sure about which is partly the reason we are taking them out of school and going for it 😀.

I don’t know how to be confident of anything anymore 😭

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 19/05/2021 17:37

Oh Shite they are shutting secondary schools in the south side. When is this bullshit going to stop

WouldBeGood · 19/05/2021 17:44

Oh my god, this is terrifying @IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021. I can feel the panic starting, I can’t do this again.

OP posts:
Icannever · 19/05/2021 17:50

@WouldBeGood that’s exactly how I feel, just total panic it’s all starting again. We’ve only just got back to life being a tiny bit more normal.

I really can’t do this again

Bytheloch · 19/05/2021 17:55

I can only see one journalist reporting about the schools, nothing official.
Says only the pupils doing the assessments are to attend. Literally overnight expecting all the children be off? Surely not?

latissimusdorsi · 19/05/2021 17:56

@IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 that seems drastic measure! The exams teacher assessments are going on at moment! wonder if they have evidence that households with infections are continuing to send their kids to school?

Bytheloch · 19/05/2021 17:58

Hmm, the journalist says ‘senior pupils’ so I’m assuming S5/6 exam, sorry, assessment years only?

rookiemere · 19/05/2021 17:58

It sounds ace @Groovee thanks for reporting back. Looks like we need to take our chances whilst we can. Confused

forfucksakenett · 19/05/2021 18:08

Very worrying about the schools! Does anyone have a link? I can't find anything.

We've had a couple of cases in our school. Not good.

WouldBeGood · 19/05/2021 18:10

They can’t keep closing schools. Our poor kids. It’s insane.

Time for me to roll out the Jesus suffering fuck line again?!

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 19/05/2021 18:18

This over reaction to the Indian variant really isn't doing my anxiety any good. It feels like the threat of more lockdown is always there, and I can never quite relax and believe them when they say we'll be allowed more freedom or there's a way out of this. It's making me feel quite panicky, like there's no end point in sight and no hope, and even if we did get to the mythical level zero they can always take us backwards. I really think that would just finish me off and I'm hanging by a thread as it is. If the SG is going to shit their collective pants every time a new variant comes on the scene there literally will be no end to this, because the virus isn't going anywhere and there will likely be a new crop if variants every year!

Lockdownbear · 19/05/2021 18:19

Oh God, poor kids it really is shite!

WouldBeGood · 19/05/2021 18:19

Perfectly deployed @titsintiers.

I’ve just poured a large glass of wine.

It feels like a day for wine - what could be better, an extended summer holiday based in your local area.

Do you think kids living in Tuscany are all like 'when am I going to be allowed to get away from here, I'm so sick of the perfection of the weather, the food, the culture, so booooored'.

titsintiers · 19/05/2021 18:59

He's a bit of a big floppy sword isn't he.
WouldBeGood · 19/05/2021 19:09

@titsintiers 🤣🤣

OP posts:
rookiemere · 19/05/2021 19:11

I'm the same @Y0uCann0tBeSer10us . I'd finally allowed myself to relax a little and dare to think that some of our summer holiday plans might happen and pouf it feels like it's all falling away.

I'm now trying to be grateful that at least we have a night away booked over the bank holiday weekend and relatives coming up to look after DS, as I now worry that could be it in terms of plans.

The thing I don't quite understand is that of course cases were going to rise post lockdown, but it shouldn't be an issue because most vulnerable vaccinated. Is the reaction due to the Indian variant or would the schools shutting etc. still have happened due to inevitable increased numbers ?

frasersmummy · 19/05/2021 19:18

talk of shutting schools???? please tell me this is a nasty rumour .. please !!!

there was under a 1000 cases in glasgow over the last 7 days in a population of 1.6 million .. thats approx 0.04 % of the population

This is a complete over reaction
