But then the booking, advanced organisation nature of this actually plays quite well to my overly controlling nature Grin. Plus it's great being guaranteed a seat at The Dome.

WouldBeGood · 10/06/2021 12:41

It’s funny how different people are @rookiemere 😃 I like spontaneity on holiday and no plan. I’ll leave it a bit in case things get better

Don't cancel your break.

The glum shite I've just read North Lanarkshire have cancelled this years fireworks. Its out doors and months away. Just shite.

I've been trying to persuade DH to camp somewhere - anywhere on the West Coast for 4 nights. He's not having it. Boo-hoo!

What Ayrshire or Dumfrieshire caravan parks have got really good sea views that I can watch the sunset?

Scottishskifun · 10/06/2021 15:15

You will love it whilst there @WouldBeGood!
I usually make reservations in cities before all this mess as I hate standing and waiting for tables or traipsing to loads of places by which point I'm hungry thirsty and grumpy! 😂

I am going with the going to enjoy every moment of the summer as I don't trust SG!

WouldBeGood · 10/06/2021 15:23

Brighouse Bay in D&G is really nice

See, I never book stuff. I just wander. Not book, masks, sanitise, sd, obey rules barked at me by people I can’t hear.

Plus the masks mess up my lippy.

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 10/06/2021 15:29

I did that last summer @Scottishskifun.

But no enthusiasm now. I just think it might be a big waste of money if it’s all regimented and I’m unhappy.

Why the feck? It's months away.
Lockdownbear · 10/06/2021 17:39

Exactly - I can only guess they'd need to order the fireworks now if it was going ahead. But seems overly cautious to me.

WouldBeGood · 10/06/2021 18:11

I think it’s now abundantly clear that we are never going to be allowed normality

@WouldBeGood,seriously. Go on your break. Stop letting shite depress you. I know i can talk. But just feckin go.

titsintiers · 10/06/2021 20:52

We're going away for the weekend tomorrow, I find myself wondering who will start to exhibit Covid symptoms first in the house. What a time to be alive.

ssd · 10/06/2021 20:58

We've been getting away loads, even if just for a drive out. Ds still at home has been on holiday and has lots planned round the football. He's out and about too. I'm encouraging him. He's sat in enough. Life isnt the same but its still to be lived. No point being here otherwise. Im still anxious but determined to live. I rail, but get on with it.

RedactedTaeFeck · 10/06/2021 21:22

Lots of good railing still happening. I had 2nd jag on Tuesday and not been great but feeling better all of a sudden. Trip to the Lakes next week, booked 3 meals out and some activities, hoping we can get some spontaneous lunches and wandering about.

It's beyond shite with masks and distancing now. We need normality.

Lockdownbear · 11/06/2021 00:42

We definitely need normality.

Scot Gov are getting lots of stick over the fan zone especially when they aren't allowing parents to attend nursery graduations & sports days.

I just can't believe they got back in power. The tide will turn. It has too.

Lockdownbear · 11/06/2021 00:45

I've got 3 holidays booked, 1 full week in England and 2 short breaks in Scotland.

Might persuade DH to come on another camp trip. I'm more keen on the tent than him.

runningpink · 11/06/2021 06:29

I would love to go on holiday but it’s just not going to happen this year!

I am going to try and do stuff on my week off though. Although not sure what yet.
My confidence for driving has been lost in terms of going on the bypass so that really limits me.

I will work something out.

I hope everyone who is booked to go away manages to have as normal a time as possible

titsintiers · 11/06/2021 06:42

Why don't you get some refresher driving lessons @runningpink? The instructor could take you on the bypass and help you build up confidence.

runningpink · 11/06/2021 06:50

Driving lessons round here are booked up for months. And waiting lists a mile long!

Iv been driving for 15 years so it’s ridiculous really! But iv always had a bit of panic around the bypass which I had pretty much overcome to the extent I was planning on travelling up North myself last summer which obviously didn’t happen.

I will see if a friend will sit with me a few times I think.

I went out a few times last year but the roads were pretty quiet so it wasn’t really an issue.

titsintiers · 11/06/2021 06:57

Fckn Covid has affected everything hasn't it!

I'm sure your friend will be happy to sit with you Smile

Lockdownbear · 11/06/2021 07:07

I'm sure a friend would sit in the car with you. The biggest issue with the Edinburgh by-pass is it's always busy and there's always a tractor or JCB that everyone it's trying to avoid.

All our breaks are self-catering holidays park type places so shouldn't be too badly affected. I just hope the two with pools we get to use.

rookiemere · 11/06/2021 07:52

@runningpink what about getting the train somewhere? York is nice for a weekend or Lake District can be reached by train to Windermere, or even London.

runningpink · 11/06/2021 09:14

@rookiemere unfortunately trains and busses are out as I can’t handle the masks.
I would love to go to York though!

I will speak to my friend about the driving though

rookiemere · 11/06/2021 09:33

Sorry @runningpink I didn't know about the mask issue.
Definitely try to get some driving practice in with friend and pick non busy time to travel.

ssd · 11/06/2021 10:27

Ive found getting away this year great. We are happy with a fish supper on a nice beach, we're quite easily pleased. I can't be bothered planning and booking stuff, i hate time off being regimented. So we just do what we want. If i cant sit in somewhere and get a meal i dont care. Getting away from the house is the best thing.
