Maybe you don't need a long covid clinic, maybe you need a new GP? They sound pretty ineffective tbh.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 26/05/2021 21:08

I'm gobsmacked to discover there are no long COVID clinics in Scotland, while there are what 69? in England that have been operating for over 6 months. Especially given that NS was making quite a fuss about long COVID when she was justifying keeping us restricted last summer! Surely if there are complicated medical conditions that span several specialities it's only sensible to have all the rehabilitation expertise in the same place.

Zero choice live in a town with only one Dr's surgery tried to move previously to the next town but wasn't accepted due to postcode.

Yep according to JL it's most effective to go through your GP and then seek referrals to numerous different departments...... Because the wait lists are so short for each of those!

Don't worry though they invested 2 million into research into long covid...... 🙄

@Scottishskifun sorry you’re still feeling rubbish

There is definitely a long Covid clinic in Edinburgh as a colleague was there a few weeks ago. Not sure about other areas but definitely in Edinburgh.

Thank you so much for the info! I had my GP and SG announcements which said no clinics but if Lothian NHS has set one up maybe others will follow.

From NHS Lothian page it's only open to Edinburgh residents so don't think I can get referred there but it's something and I hope my NHS sets one up!

Groovee · 27/05/2021 06:50

Mr G's op today. Feeling rather nervous. Be glad when I have some news.

titsintiers · 27/05/2021 06:52

Hope it goes well @Groovee 🌷

Hope your nhs trust starts a long Covid group too @Scottishskifun, sorry you're still feeling rubbish 🌷

WouldBeGood · 27/05/2021 08:08

Oh, sending good vibes to you @Groovee and Mr Groovee.

Hope all goes well @Groovee will be thinking of you both

@Scottishskifun could you somehow contact the long covid clinic in Edinburgh and see if they may see you or even have information about something in your area in the pipeline or even for advice or something. Probably clutching at straws here but you never know.

ResilienceWanker · 27/05/2021 09:34

Ooooh, yes. Sending healing thoughts to MrG

I hope you get somewhere on the clinic, scottishskifun I'm shocked at how much of a lottery it seems to be. Though if Edinburgh/ Lothian has decided it is worth doing, hopefully other health boards will follow suit. Your GP does sound supremely unhelpful though Flowers

I'm about to embark on my mega trip to be jagged. Am rather concerned, as earlier in the week the local press was reporting on 3 hour queues in the rain as the hub had increased its capacity by several thousand per day (but not, apparently, the logistics to cope with that). So I'm hoping they've got their act together since then. I can't wait 3 hours after my appointment time, as I'll need to collect DS from school. But also I don't want to turn up early in the assumption there's a 3 hour wait cos then I'll be part of the problem. I'm planning to take a book and a shewee.

ResilienceWanker · 27/05/2021 12:35

Well, turns out they have got their act together. Was in and out in about 15min, and before my appointment time! All v well organised. Just waiting for the nanobots to embed in my brain now... Wink

riverrunning · 27/05/2021 12:36

Good luck Grovee - and where is the sun? Keeps over promising and under delivering...

Haudyourwheesht · 27/05/2021 12:59

It's sunny in Glasgow. (Which is good because we're not allowed to leave Grin)

riverrunning · 27/05/2021 13:01

It's finally appeared in Edinburgh too - now let's hope it sticks around, toasting myself on a window ledge and thinking of ditching my cardie, oooh errr

Groovee · 27/05/2021 14:08

Got the washing out. About to start doing some gardening. Ds brought the compost out the car and has had his hair cut.

Lockdownbear · 27/05/2021 14:47

Groove good luck with the Op.

Lovely to see the sun today. You've just reminded me to do the washing.
I've been decked with a cold, or at least I'm 99% sure it's just a heavy cold.

WouldBeGood · 27/05/2021 17:29

Yes! First day it’s actually been slightly warm here.

Hope you feel better soon @Lockdownbear.

@Groovee how is Mr G? Hope op went well

RaspberryCoulis · 27/05/2021 19:07

Just booked tickets for one of the evening sessions at Edinburgh Zoo in a couple of weeks. Will be so lovely to do something normal.

Wbeezer · 27/05/2021 19:27

Just popped in to say hello. So lovely to have some sun, my garden is really green because of the rain but my tomato plants went in a big with the cold.
Wine has been owned tonight as DS3 finished his sort of Highers today, unfortunately the SQA saw fit to make the Higher Biology papers the most fiendish for years (according to DS3's teacher). Why? I hope they adjust the grade boundaries although not sure how that will work with the teachers marking, DS3 needs a B but I feel weirdly calm and fatalistic about it, i think I've toughened up (or am past caringGrin).
Hope anyone else's DCs with exams are doing OK and any teachers are surviving.

WouldBeGood · 27/05/2021 19:45

Hello, @Wbeezer! Thankfully DS is not affected as s1. Teachers must be exhausted.

Cheers 🍷

My class' assessments are over (other than the quite significant number who have missed an assessment as they were self isolating). So that's nice, but the time for celebrating will be when the bloody marking is done. Wink

Groovee · 27/05/2021 20:50

Mr G got the recovery staff to call me. He was in near enough 5 hours. He felt like he'd done 10 rounds with Josh Taylor. Otherwise I have no clue how it actually went. 🤦🏻‍♀️

My texts haven't been read. Hopefully hear tomorrow x
