I feel due to the nature of my job I'm getting exposed to it much more than normal. I don't want to say how. Its a bit niche. Not exciting, just a certain bit if my job. And speaking to management is out, they do the behaviour that gives me anxiety.

ssd · 23/05/2021 20:25

@WouldBeGood

It’s total shite across the board *@ssd*.

ssd · 23/05/2021 20:26

I know I cant complain. Im not a nurse or a teacher. They have it much worse. Im just a worrier over health and this is all a major trigger.

WouldBeGood · 23/05/2021 20:43

Pop over to railing where all complaining is welcome @ssd 😃 Guilt free.

titsintiers · 23/05/2021 20:43

Of course you can complain, everyone is affected differently by this. Being couped up in the house is making me more anxious. But that doesn't mean I think you're any less entitled to feel anxious for having to leave your home 🌷

WouldBeGood · 23/05/2021 20:48

@titsintiers and @ssd it would be good if we could all swap according to anxiety triggers..

ssd · 23/05/2021 20:50

Yes, maybe a week at home and a week out at work. Keep us all going....

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 23/05/2021 20:51

Reasons to be positive for me are that herd immunity is high, meaning any variant will have a hard time taking hold and the risks of prolonged contact an infectious person are very low, and that these outbreaks aren't breaking through to the most vulnerable groups who are generally fully vaccinated now, so the NHS isn't in danger of being overwhelmed. I've never been personally scared of getting COVID (and actually suspect I may have done) because the data made clear that my demographic isn't at serious risk even if I did get it, but the risks to the NHS, and the unavailability of other services within it has been a source of significant anxiety. I do occasionally allow myself to hope that things might be on track soon though, because of the reasons above. I'm pretty confident Humza won't see an increase in ICU admissions in outbreak areas, except perhaps in the minority who refused vaccination (as they saw in England), and restrictions, including om health services, will become less and less justifiable.

ssd · 23/05/2021 20:59

Ski, how are you doing now?

jennyfromtheblock22 · 23/05/2021 21:09

@Perihelion yes agree that a lot of the population has only had one dose of the vaccine. However for second doses we're at almost 100% of all over 65s and priority groups so we have covered those most at risk of hospitalisation and death thankfully. Anyway the sooner we get through all adults the better!

WouldBeGood · 23/05/2021 21:14

Oh, DP’s son is 29 and has got his blue letter: no underlying conditions, in Glasgow

Haudyourwheesht · 23/05/2021 21:31

Is he is in a G41/2 or -G5/51/52 postcode?

I'm in Glasgow and only just got my letter and I'm in my 40s.

WouldBeGood · 23/05/2021 21:33

Don’t think so, think G12

ssd · 23/05/2021 23:58

I know someone early 20s who has had both, no underlying health conditions etc, just a genuine mix up. I guess these things happen.

SoMuchForSummerLove · 24/05/2021 09:42

People aged 18 to 29 can register online for the vaccination now:

register.vacs.nhs.scot/

ssd · 24/05/2021 10:55

Thanks

WouldBeGood · 24/05/2021 11:12

Thanks @SoMuchForSummerLove, I’ve sent that to DD as she’s been keen for it 😃

SoMuchForSummerLove · 24/05/2021 11:25

Sure! I just saw someone mention it on Twitter. Good to see we're really moving along.

Scottishskifun · 24/05/2021 11:47

Why is it that once again football is the exemption and apparently is safe to have 6000 people outside and 12,000 attending matches yet the public is told not to avoid each other....... 🙄

I hope it does pull Glasgow out of tier 3 but I find it so bloody hypocritical!

SempreSuiGeneris · 24/05/2021 12:04

Just to clarify the on-line registration is a text / email notification sign up in case you are worried a blue envelope would go astray. The actual appointment system underpinning it is as before. - ie wait your turn and be allocated a default appointment which you can then alter if necessary.

SoMuchForSummerLove · 24/05/2021 12:09

Oh that's a bit less exciting!

But I'm sure we were saying on here (or maybe the railing thread) that text/email would be a more efficient way of rolling out appointments so it's a good thing anyway.

SempreSuiGeneris · 24/05/2021 12:12

Definitely better than lots of blue envelopes arriving and ignored at empty student accomodation etc.

ElephantOfRisk · 24/05/2021 12:13

Ah I see, at least it might be helpful for those with students away from home/moving soon so they don't miss their appointment.
DieSchottin93 · 24/05/2021 12:20

I've just registered 👍 I'm at the upper end of the age bracket lol, hoping I won't have much longer to wait!

Chemenger · 24/05/2021 12:24

Football is always an exception because it is treated as a religion here, except it is given more exceptional treatment than any other religion.
