I'll join you there. My rail is a bit more that folk are so black and white on the issues and there is very little grey in the middle. I don't feel like there will ever harmony.

WouldBeGood · 08/05/2021 13:42

Joining in with that one.

And that because I’m a middle class woman apparently I’m naive and privileged so my view is worthless 🙄

So depressing.

And who the fuck would vote for Swinney?!

OP posts:
riverrunning · 08/05/2021 14:22

Really a bit gutted Labour didn't do better - yes they've still got some rubbish policies but the message, campaign & leadership was so much better...

The weather is adequately capturing my post election mood - endless drizzle.

ResilienceWanker · 08/05/2021 15:06

And who the fuck would vote for Swinney?!

Well, yes. Presumably those people who hate children but couldn't quite bring themselves to vote for the family party... Wink Imagine thinking, yes, he's the person who I most want to represent me in holyrood. Confused

I just want there to be a bit more compromise and pragmatism and respect for others views apart from Swinney or Patrick Harvie and his fucking waistcoat and a bit less bickering. But that's obviously far too naive and wooly for the current situation. Maybe I need to go and stand in the drizzle to clear my head a bit...

Chasingamy · 08/05/2021 15:10

I’m finding the results very depressing. I get that nationalists don’t like the current Uk government and want a party that more reflects their views so fighting for independence. But this is yet another 5 years of a SG that doesn’t represent me at all. I think I can’t stand the stagnant nature of it all now. It’s never going to change it is, this is basically it for the long foreseeable.

riverrunning · 08/05/2021 16:16

I suppose we have to cling onto the fact that the constituency votes where the SNP got more than 50 percent of the vote share weren't that many.

Unionists need to get more serious about tactical voting at constituency level.

Lockdownbear · 08/05/2021 16:45

Scunnered - is the best description. How bad does it need to get for people to stop voting for them?

WouldBeGood · 08/05/2021 19:12

The problem is that the unionists can’t really work
Together because of the Tory hate

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 08/05/2021 19:12

Unionist parties, I mean

OP posts:
riverrunning · 08/05/2021 20:18

Yeah. Not nearly enough tactical voting because of that.

Time travel, it's the only answer. Time to watch some fluff - young Montalbano it is!

WouldBeGood · 08/05/2021 20:57

Has anyone done the check in Scotland app? How does it work? Do you scan and then input information or does it lift data?

OP posts:
StillRailing · 08/05/2021 21:41

I was expecting the result. Incumbents tend to do well in a crisis.
Situation as normal really. Not inspired personally ,(though my neighbours are thrilled so that's nice for them.😅)

WouldBeGood · 09/05/2021 12:53

Do you think we’ll get a wee treat from NS for voting her back in?

OP posts:
StillRailing · 09/05/2021 13:20

Have a drink inside on the third Tuesday of the month?!

WouldBeGood · 09/05/2021 13:20

Oh! Spoiling us! @StillRailing 😂

OP posts:
riverrunning · 09/05/2021 14:46

Trick or treat? Maybe we'll be allowed to this year! Another gloomy day.

ScotlandUnited · 09/05/2021 15:58

When will students get their first jag? Will it be before September? When will they get both jags? Could we see a September outbreak again?

And when will we find out the Scottish holiday green list? Maybe we'll get two countries or 11, depending on whether Nicola goes for the safer than / better than England approach.

ScotlandUnited · 09/05/2021 16:01

and will those 12-18 get the vaccine anytime soon? Just thinking it would make it much easier to go on holiday and to go without masks in schools.

WouldBeGood · 09/05/2021 16:17

I think masks in schools will go soon anyway: going in England next week I believe.

I don’t think young people will be vaccinated for ages and that it would be much better to use the vaccines to vaccinate at risk groups in poor countries first.

Both Westminster and Scotland are currently modelling for a third wave in July/Aug yes but hoping the vaccine programme will keep the economic elements going.

12-18 year old vaccine trial was suspended for AZ not sure on the Pfizer one but will be a while til the trial is complete and then it goes through approval process for children.

Lidlfix · 09/05/2021 16:55

My 2 potentially 3 DDS who are students really hope to have been vaccinated before they return to their uni cities. DD3 spent so much time in isolation last year that I began to worry (she was fine though wee trooper) that surely lessons will be learned ? The mass movement of unvaccinated people in a short window ...

My youngest is 17 so not really sure how parents of younger DC are feeling about vaccination. My only point of reference is my Dsis but DNS have quite severe asthma. Interested in views on this as pupils will no doubt discuss the topic.

ScotlandUnited · 09/05/2021 17:05

DD wants to be vaccinated so she can go on holiday and also see her cousins abroad. She's also sick of the self isolation alerts from school that are still coming in.

Lidlfix · 09/05/2021 17:14

I wonder when being vaccinated will stop the requirement to self isolate if identified as a close contact? I have had my first dose but really worry about having to isolate and the impact on my pupils. Personally I could crack on with the marking mountain the not exams have generated but I am really needed in the classroom right now.

My Dsis is overseas as are part of DH's family and it is so hard not knowing when we will see them, so can appreciate that feeling.

WouldBeGood · 09/05/2021 17:30

It should all stop now.

Time for freedom

As a vulnerable person, I am not keen going back to work with some people still not vaccinated, at least not fully and as someone who is hearing and visually impaired, I want the rules on face masks and social distancing to GTF. Even the vaccine doesn't make that problem go away.
