Wouldbegood - where's it happening I'll join you!

littlbrowndog · 04/05/2021 11:30

Have you seen that Edinburgh city council is to spend 5 million on upgrading public toilets to be gender neutral

Of all the things we need in Edinburgh gender neutral toilets is not top of the list

The roads for both cyclists and drivers are in a shocking state

titsintiers · 04/05/2021 11:53

Really? Ffs.

Stop the world, I want to get off.

WouldBeGood · 04/05/2021 12:10

That’s just so depressing @titsintiers.

And on the day I saw a post from Summerhall begging for help from the authorities to save fringe venues.

The world has gone mad.

I saw that article too and I think they are along the lines of just unisex individual toilets . Do you remember the ones that used to flush themselves?? I suspect these new ones will cost money to use as well!

littlbrowndog · 04/05/2021 14:41

Yeah they will cost I think

Summerhall is such a great venue

littlbrowndog · 04/05/2021 14:43

Cycling in the dark. The potholes are so dangerous

rookiemere · 04/05/2021 14:57

But millions spent on unnecessary cycle lanes and "spaces for people" that could more productively been spent on making road surfaces better for all - this is Edinburgh btw.

littlbrowndog · 04/05/2021 15:11

I know. The spaces for people. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Groovee · 04/05/2021 15:28

Do not start me on the spaces for people. Corstorphine is a mess.

On my first bus since Covid. Mr G has my car. So getting the bus home. I feel out of my depth 😂

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 04/05/2021 15:47

Speaking of Edinburgh, have you seen the AIBU thread (it's in Active) about the Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre appointment of a trans woman as CEO? One who is still biologically and legally male.

(Nothing to do with CV restrictions, so feel free to ignore.)

SoMuchForSummerLove · 04/05/2021 15:52

Yes, and I had a huge rant about it with DH this morning. What they're essentially saying is:

  • there were no suitable women for the job
  • fuck you, service users

I don't know what else to take from it really. Certainly nothing that prioritises the needs of vulnerable women.

littlbrowndog · 04/05/2021 16:34

Yes I saw that as well

He also admitted to not telling forth valley that he was a man when he got the job there

Has the job can legally exempt trans women

What is going in our country

WouldBeGood · 04/05/2021 16:39

@ICouldHaveCheckedFirst all railing is welcome here, Covid or not.

In fact, I think that Edinburgh Rape Crisis appointment should be railed against across the land.

And what kind of person do you have to be to put yourself up for that? Just appalling.

@Groovee I bet that feels weird!

Buses are good. They tend to be quiet. But I can’t get my bus tracker to work outside even though I have data

Annoying if you miss a bus and don’t know how long till next one

Groovee · 04/05/2021 18:20

The one I got on was busy. Would normally do that tram but that doesn't go to Colinton. 😭😭

I learned do not go up bus steps while the bus goes round a roundabout 😂

Groovee · 04/05/2021 21:37

Mr G has had his surgery confirmed. It's all so real now!

WouldBeGood · 04/05/2021 21:40

Oh gosh, @Groovee. Bit daunting, but think how great it will be to have all this sorted out. And in all fairness you’re due a bit of peace!

I know grovee. Clutching a buggy and 2 toddlers. We sway like a drunk party

Lockdownbear · 05/05/2021 00:18

I can see the arguement for gender neutral public toilets. I hate my son going into the men's alone. And he hates going into the ladies. So we end up with an argument.

Just like my argued against unisex changing areas at our local pool. Then talked herself round when talking about her wee girl self who stopped swimming with her Dad as he didn't like her going into the ladies alone.

But I'd definitely argue that a rape crisis center should not be run by a man in any guise.

One day the tide will turn it has to.

Lockdownbear · 05/05/2021 00:19

Groovee good to know that MrG has a date hope it goes well. You deserve a break.

WouldBeGood · 05/05/2021 06:52

I don’t want unisex toilets. They scare me.

It was interesting to see that access to toilets are actually a really important part of policy in the developing world as they keep women safe. So people donate to build single sex toilets there, whilst denying women access to safe toilets here.

More toilet stuff the urinary leash that kept women at home
