Same. Today I've had a banana and an apple, and yet at 10pm I'll be tucking into a corned beef sandwich. WTF is that about?!? I never used to do it, it's a bad lockdown habit.

littlbrowndog · 21/04/2021 11:21

Am the same. Sometimes I eat crisps in bed. 😂

BettysCardigan · 21/04/2021 11:21

I do that when DH is watching football in the living room. Netflix and crisps.

What the hell have our lives become?? Grin

SempreSuiGeneris · 21/04/2021 11:58

Cannot believe what I'm reading. Crisps in bed. Shock I'm not even allowed tea in bed after one too many incidents falling asleep cup in hand 30 years ago.

Just back from a walk in the wilderness. Fantastic day here today especially since DD2 keeps shushing me out so she can pretend to study in peace.

shouldistop · 21/04/2021 12:05

Lovely day here too. Ds1 and I have watered the new grass, now we're having a picnic in the front garden then we'll head to the park for a bit this afternoon.

DeepfriedPizza · 21/04/2021 12:11

I always eat in bed. Love it. This morning I took a guilt free trip to Cardwell garden centre in Gourock then to Tesco then Matalan. It was an almost normal morning.

WouldBeGood · 21/04/2021 13:02

I got caught by DS eating the last of the homemade ice cream in bed the other night 😳

Neither DH or I eat upstairs ever. A bottle of water is as far as it goes. No tv upstairs either. I've no idea why really, just never done that.

Boys were banned when they were younger but it didn't seem like a hill I wanted to die on when they started eating and drinking upstairs when they were teenagers.

Young adult DS will take his lunch and supper to his room but eats dinner with us. He indulges in the odd beer, cider or gin up there when chatting on-line with friends. I think his room is a tip but that's his business as long as he brings dishes and glasses down and doesn't have vermin.

WouldBeGood · 21/04/2021 13:43

No vermin seems a reasonable limit @RedactedTaeFeck

I don’t usually eat upstairs. I’d never seen it as even a possibility until I saw Sybil eating in bed in Fawlty Towers when I was a child and being horrified and mesmerised

I would be a shut in if I could lay my hands on that🤣

We've had a few mice over the years but mainly because the cat has brought them in alive and lost them or got bored.

They've been doing a bit of work near the river by our estate recently and some house further in have had issues with rats.

We are a very catty (and doggy) street and are a bit further away so haven't had any problems. Our vermin issues stopped when our cat got too old and fat to hunt. Only had one "present" in the last few years, that was a big juicy mouse presented to DS2 on his first trip home from Uni - she luffs him Grin

WouldBeGood · 21/04/2021 13:51

What a lovely gift 😂😂

I had rats in my old house in the country. My supposed ratter and JR terrier hid in my bed 😂

Apparently in the top echelons of society, queen liz etc. when having guest stay, any married ladies get breakfast in bed and the gentlemen and single ladies need to get themselves to the breakfast room.

It's clear none of us are mixing in those circles!

RedactedTaeFeck · 21/04/2021 13:54

Defective terrier @WouldBeGood, you should have had a refund.

WouldBeGood · 21/04/2021 13:55

@RedactedTaeFeck definitely not those circles 😂

OP posts:
RedactedTaeFeck · 21/04/2021 13:58

Think the breakfast thing was to spare the married ladies blushes after a night of rumpy pumpy, the single ladies of course being chaste and innocent and the gentlemen no doubt exchanging a wink or two - urghh.

Breakfast in bed on a lovely tray in a 4 poster in a stately house does sound like a nice start to the day though.

WouldBeGood · 21/04/2021 14:07

I’d be like the blowsy old woman with rather too much lipstick, winking at the young chaps over breakfast as I shovel in the kedgeree😃

OP posts:
BettysCardigan · 21/04/2021 14:24

Bless them for thinking that married ladies the world over are shagged out every morning Grin

SempreSuiGeneris · 21/04/2021 14:27

Watched a thing on High Georgian makeup on BBC2 last night. Apparently the high status women used to put on their face as "performance art" for the lowlier echelons of the household - bit like being a social media influencer. Might be to do with that.

Top tip was to char the tip of a clove bud to use for eyeliner - tempted to see if that works or, more likely in my case, causes an allergic reaction.

Ever since the DC were born I've prioritised getting everyone else up and dressed before me. Before they went to nursery I used to do all the housework before getting up properly. My neighbour upstairs is a youngish tradesman who delights in giving me a mock shocked cheery wave when I'm still in my jammies past 8 - ditto the binmen and postmen etc etc. Suspect I may be more Milred than Sybil.

runningpink · 21/04/2021 15:54

Everything is getting worse not better. I’m going to see my friend even less from next week than what I currently do. (Before all this shit I would see her maybe four times a week doing activities/gym type stuff)

In my messed up brain if we don’t see each other regularly that will equate to her not wanting to be friends anymore.

Not going to be able to do my classes as timings have changed. These have kept me going the past year and given me something to fill my evenings

My life will be going to work/tea/bed repeat.

Feeling so so sad and even more lonely than I have been feeling which I didn’t think was possible

shouldistop · 21/04/2021 16:03

I'm sorry @runningpink could you try to arrange other things to do with your friend? Lunch once a week or something? I know what you mean though, I'm often insecure about friendships and wonder if people really like me.

WouldBeGood · 21/04/2021 16:06

Oh, @runningpink, you are having a hard time. 💐

Did you ever get to see your GP? Sorry if I missed an update.

I’m actually also feeling down as it seems as though things are getting back to normal, but then they’re not really, with all the fannying and rules.

Could you look for a different place for classes? I’m getting back to a local boxing gym next week. Or ask on local Facebook for suggestions?

OP posts:
runningpink · 21/04/2021 17:21

My friend is really busy with her work and family. We usually meet at the weekend as well as during the week but she doesn’t appear to have much time for that even at the minute. So can only see it getting worse.

Past friendships have definitely made me very insecure and paranoid. And there is definitely a bit of a threes a crowd going on as well to make matters worse

My gym membership is paused. I honestly don’t want to go back at the moment for various reasons including the lack of times I could go due to booking system times.
Other classes aren’t really what I want/need.

Sorry for coming on here and moaning yet again
