Under 50's vaccines

Does anyone know what's happening up here for the age groups under 50 (who don't fall into the carers / underlying health conditions etc that have already been done)?
I read that NHS England weren't planning to start them before May due to supply issues and to enable them to keep up with second doses but I haven't seen anything relating to Scotland. The BBC website just has all age groups under 50 defined as "by the end of July". The omni queue calculator reckons first dose for age 40+ between 10th & 19th April but I suspect that's fake news.
Has anyone under 50 had an invite yet??
I'm getting impatient now!!

Yes I’ve got my booking reference. I wondered if I needed ID? I’ll take my passport in case. Thanks! So just that and a mask?

ItsLikeSputnik · 05/05/2021 20:56

I think so. It’s all my parents took when they went for their jags and they didn’t have any problems at all.

TheMShip · 06/05/2021 06:16

I was told to bring some form of photo ID and the booking reference. Mask of course if not medically exempt, and they said some of the big centres are cold as they're being heavily ventilated. I figured to wear a hoodie over a tank top so I could just wiggle one arm out for the jab. Grin

@TheMShip great thank you!

doorornottodoor · 06/05/2021 06:21

And @ItsLikeSputnik thanks!

lostinbooks · 06/05/2021 17:45

NHS Lothian - I’m 41 and called the phone line today. Appointment was in the system for May 16th!

QueryA · 06/05/2021 17:48

IndigoApple · 06/05/2021 18:15

West Lothian - I know lots of people mid 40s got letters today for next week

Torvean · 09/05/2021 00:36

I got my letter this week ( early 40s) Aberdeenshire. Thankfully I got to cancel as I've been vaccinated in a trial.

RedcurrantPuff · 09/05/2021 01:01

I’ve got quite a lot of 45/49 friends getting their first dose, all been the Pfizer too.

I’m 48 and in group 6 so getting 2nd AZ on Monday

ChrisQuean · 10/05/2021 15:09

DH (48) had his today. We’re in Lothian, and he had AZ at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre. I’ve been done.

Littlemissweepy · 11/05/2021 14:21

No letter but I called the helpline and was told when it was. I can’t make it because of a work commitment, and there are no possible other appointments to reschedule it to. Tried today and on Friday last week across three different centers. Am in Lothian.

Has anyone else had this, do you just keep trying and keep trying until an appointment pops up?

Yes I tried three times before I got my appointment. They seemed to have lots in Bathgate.
ChrisQuean · 11/05/2021 16:29

@Littlemissweepy

Yes, we had to call several times to rearrange DH’s appointment before a space was free. It’s such a cumbersome system. The Pyramids at Bathgate seems to have availability from time to time. I’d keep phoning and something will turn up. Annoying though.

On a slightly different note, it’s all over the press today about how the NHS app to access medical records and order repeat prescriptions will be adapted as a vaccine passport. Scotland doesn’t use it. Will we have to have a letter issued? I haven’t heard anything from Holyrood. I desperately want to visit my Dad, who has cancer and lives in Europe, as soon as I am able after my second dose. I haven’t seen him for nearly 18 months.

Callisto1 · 11/05/2021 16:59

If they give you your code @Littlemissweepy then you can rearrange the appointment online. It's still a pain to get a slot. It took me 7 attempts of checking every reasonable centre on the list to get a weekend slot.

Littlemissweepy · 11/05/2021 18:26

Yes I have been doing online. Just checked again. None in the EICC atall for the next 4 weeks, will keep trying....

Callisto1 · 11/05/2021 20:58

I would try a variety of sites not just the EICC unless it's the only place you can get to. It's a really annoying system!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 11/05/2021 22:29

For those trying to rearrange appointments in Lothian, if you can get there, Gorebridge, as well as Bathgate as a PP mentioned, is worth trying. I know several people who've had luck in getting appointments there.

Littlemissweepy · 12/05/2021 19:37

Thanks to those who suggested trying Bathgate, which I wouldn’t otherwise have thought to do. Managed to get an appointment there on the 24th May Smile

doorornottodoor · 12/05/2021 19:43

@Littlemissweepy yippee!!! ❤️

PufferFishGoneWrong · 12/05/2021 20:22

So down south can book on Thursday onwards at 38/9 years old. Mine can still be up 4 weeks away per the calculator. We are way behind.

colourchanginglipstick · 15/05/2021 10:26

Question for people who have had vaccine letters:

Yesterday I had my first jab, Astra Zenica. Annoyingly however I was given printed information about pfizer side effects to read in the long queue and had my hopes up I was getting pfizer. Turned out they had just given me the wrong leaflet as the only people getting pfizer that day were second appointments, and they weren't allowed to change it. However they mentioned that my letter 'looked liked an AZ letter'. Which got me wondering, as DH got his letter today, whether people with pfizer have a different code on it? My appointment number began with WUA if that means anything.
