Under 50's vaccines

Does anyone know what's happening up here for the age groups under 50 (who don't fall into the carers / underlying health conditions etc that have already been done)?
I read that NHS England weren't planning to start them before May due to supply issues and to enable them to keep up with second doses but I haven't seen anything relating to Scotland. The BBC website just has all age groups under 50 defined as "by the end of July". The omni queue calculator reckons first dose for age 40+ between 10th & 19th April but I suspect that's fake news.
Has anyone under 50 had an invite yet??
I'm getting impatient now!!

49 in Highland Health board vaccines are mainly GP led for this health board. Been told by doctor that they are doing all the second doses before doing any first doses for age 45 to 49 and can't give me any time scale but at least a few weeks.

Other GP's in the area were doing age 45 to 49 5 weeks ago and got down as far as late 20's.

Pissed off dosen't come close.

Groovee · 04/05/2021 21:35

I'm due my second dose by the 27th of this month. From what I'm hearing, it's 11 weeks roughly in between. Tempted to phone and see if it's been generated yet as Dh is booked for surgery on the 27th.

just rang, 44 Lothians. Got through 1st time and my appointment is in the system for the end of the month :)

A question for those who had letters. Was the vaccination date at least a week away? Or is it more likely only a day before?

emmathedilemma · 05/05/2021 13:19

@Callisto1 my colleague rang after I did this morning and his is next Wednesday and he's still not had a letter! Mine appointment isn't for another couple of weeks but less than a week for people who are at work isn't much really.

My letter gave me a weeks notice. Letter received last friday, appt this friday. (45 Fife)

Callisto1 · 05/05/2021 14:19

Thanks @emmathedilemma. I'll give them a ring. Hopefully they're better than my GP where it currently takes ages just to get a phone appointment.

deveronvalley · 05/05/2021 14:20

@Callisto1 - I got my letter 6 days before the appointment (first dose). I needed to reschedule and found it very straightforward to do online.

emmathedilemma · 05/05/2021 15:12

@deveronvalley what format was your username in to reschedule online? I tried using the booking ref he gave me over the phone but it wasn't that and it's not any combination of my name that I can guess at!

deveronvalley · 05/05/2021 15:39

@emmathedilemma I've had a look and mine is in the format . all lowercase but the 3 digits don't mean anything to me, I think they are random. For example, if my name was Sarah Smith, it might be sarah.sm087. So I don't think you can guess it because of the 3 digit number. You could just try them all if really bored!

TheMShip · 05/05/2021 15:54

My letter is almost certainly going to come after my jab because I've just rebooked me and DH for Saturday morning (was the 17th).

TheMShip · 05/05/2021 15:55

@emmathedilemma sorry forgot to add - you can rebook on the phone line or you can ask them for your user name and do it yourself online.

emmathedilemma · 05/05/2021 15:56

ah ok, thanks, i'll just wait for the letter then. The date suits me but it would good if i could get an earlier one.

I phoned the number again this afternoon and got the appointment details for me and DH. We’re in North Lanarkshire and our appointments are next Friday. I may have cried with relief Blush

dementedpixie · 05/05/2021 16:00

@ItsLikeSputnik what age are you? I'm in NL too

ItsLikeSputnik · 05/05/2021 16:04

@dementedpixie I’m 47, DH is almost 48. Our appointments are 5 minutes apart on the same day.

dementedpixie · 05/05/2021 16:05

Dh and I are also 47

dementedpixie · 05/05/2021 16:06

What details do you need when you phone?

ItsLikeSputnik · 05/05/2021 16:09

@dementedpixie I gave them our CHI numbers from our yellow NHS medical cards. The girl on the phone said that made things easier for her but she would have been able to find us with name, address, dob etc. Give them a wee call, I’m sure your date must be soon too

dementedpixie · 05/05/2021 16:23

Just phoned the line too and ours are 15th May at Ravenscraig. Wonder when the letters are due

I had raked out the NHS cards but they didn't ask for the details. Think he wondered why I was phoning in the 1st place Grin

ItsLikeSputnik · 05/05/2021 16:27

@dementedpixie so pleased you’re sorted even if it’s confusing for the nhs call handlers Grin

emmathedilemma · 05/05/2021 16:28

@dementedpixie I just said I was trying to plan my work diary and could do with knowing if it was already booked (not a lie!)

doorornottodoor · 05/05/2021 20:27

What do you need to bring to the appointment? I’ve rescheduled mine but don’t have the letter to tell me. Thanks!

Timper · 05/05/2021 20:45

39 year old husband got his letter last week - Aberdeen. Couldn’t make his appointment so they rescheduled him to yesterday.

ItsLikeSputnik · 05/05/2021 20:47

@doorornottodoor I was given a booking reference on the phone today and was told to take a note of it with me. Pretty sure they’ll be able to look up your details upon arrival even without anything, they’re armed with iPads.
