Under 50's vaccines

emmathedilemma · 06/04/2021 17:41

Does anyone know what's happening up here for the age groups under 50 (who don't fall into the carers / underlying health conditions etc that have already been done)?
I read that NHS England weren't planning to start them before May due to supply issues and to enable them to keep up with second doses but I haven't seen anything relating to Scotland. The BBC website just has all age groups under 50 defined as "by the end of July". The omni queue calculator reckons first dose for age 40+ between 10th & 19th April but I suspect that's fake news.
Has anyone under 50 had an invite yet??
I'm getting impatient now!!

The other nations seem to be able to keep doing 1st doses at a reasonable rate while ramping up 2nd doses, (like one third 1st, two thirds 2nd)
Looking back at the stats Dancemom posts every day Scotland has been doing tiny percentage 1st doses over last couple weeks🤷🏼‍♀️

GintyMcGinty · 01/05/2021 13:19

46 yr old husband got his blue envelope today. Fife, Scotland.

I don't think Scotland will ever catch up with the rest of the UK now though. Been behind since day 1. But very quiet about it.

Littlemissweepy · 01/05/2021 13:27

Wish they’d set a target for the over 40s, like end of May. And over 30s end of June. Any challenge on progress will just be met with “we are on track to offer a vaccine to all adults by the end of July” ...

latissimusdorsi · 01/05/2021 13:44

But to keep to target they've got to be able to keep up with 1st doses while doing all the 2nd doses and that doesn't seem to be happening in Scotland.
In March Gov said we'd be ramping up to 400,000 per week (presumably to accommodate all 2nd doses) but that hasn't happened!

notagainmummy · 01/05/2021 13:49

England. 42, got a GP letter to say to book a vaccination

Littlemissweepy · 01/05/2021 14:09

Yes agreed, though in March the UK wide supply issue in April wasn’t know about.

PufferFishGoneWrong · 01/05/2021 14:45

DH got his letter today too. Angus here. App for the 9th of May.

emmathedilemma · 01/05/2021 17:01

The rate of first doses has plummeted :(

Friends in England who are only just 40 got text to book yesterday.

All my 45+ friends have had their appointments sent over the last few days. We're Fife.

howmuchistoomuch2021 · 01/05/2021 18:25

42 in east Renfrewshire here and still waiting patiently for my blue letter. Slightly frustrated that in England and Northern Ireland they have moved onto the 40-44 ages while scotland still lags behind 🤔

homesickinscotland · 01/05/2021 19:00

@mondaywine

If I do end up being late May in Lothian’s before I get my first jag (45) then it’ll be late August by the time I get my second and I will already be back full time in the classroom. Most of colleagues will be a lot later than that before they get their 2nd vaccine.
This is stressing us out too - DH is in a similar position to you. It is so frustrating hearing of younger siblings and friends in England and Wales who have been jabbed and yet it's moving at a snail's pace here.
ABrushWith · 01/05/2021 19:06

I know a 49 in East Ren who got vaccinated yesterday. Very frustrating to see how far behind the other nations we are.

mondaywine · 01/05/2021 19:46

We have Covid again in school and it really does bring it all back. So pleased my Dad aged 73 gets his second dose in ten days but dose one still feels a long way of for DH and I.

Flossy05 · 01/05/2021 23:04

My husband (45) and I (46) got our letters in Forth Valley today for appointment on 9th May. I was so excited when I saw the envelope!

TheMShip · 02/05/2021 12:09

If you're in Lothian health board and 40-49 without a letter yet, phone the booking change line. The letters for 40-44 were generated on Thursday I believe, so you should be in the system. I phoned and got mine and DH (both 41) for 17 May. No letter yet so I haven't been able to go online and check for anything sooner.

Thanks for this. I’ve tried today but can’t get through so far. Will keep trying.

What's the number for this? Can't find it...
TheMShip · 02/05/2021 17:29

@sleepypup go here and follow the steps in the guide, it'll get you the number. It's different for different health boards I think? www.nhsinform.scot/covid-19-vaccine/invitations-and-appointments/rearrange-or-opt-out-of-your-coronavirus-vaccination-appointment

Thank you! Will do - we are late 40s here and not heard a peep yet...

mondaywine · 02/05/2021 18:10

I called 08000308013 and then option 2. Now have mine and DH appointments for the end of May.

Littlemissweepy · 02/05/2021 18:49

That’s great news TheMship thanks for passing on. Wonder how long letters will take to arrive after being “generated”.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 03/05/2021 19:37

43 in Grampian here. Dh and I came home to letters this weekend, appointments at the same time Thursday night. Will have to take the kids though.

OwlMother · 04/05/2021 08:18

Thanks for the phone number and info. I called this morning and have my appointment on the 21st May (I am 42). Interestingly my dh is three years older and they say his appointment has not been generated yet. I had assumed they would be working through birth years, obviously not! This is Lothian by the way.

SoMuchForSummerLove · 04/05/2021 11:03

DH gets his on Saturday, I'm so relieved! It's almost an hours drive away, which I am certainly not complaining about. But it does make me worry about uptake rates in Fife; if we didn't have a car there's no way we could access the vaccination centres they have set up.
