Under 50's vaccines

Does anyone know what's happening up here for the age groups under 50 (who don't fall into the carers / underlying health conditions etc that have already been done)?
I read that NHS England weren't planning to start them before May due to supply issues and to enable them to keep up with second doses but I haven't seen anything relating to Scotland. The BBC website just has all age groups under 50 defined as "by the end of July". The omni queue calculator reckons first dose for age 40+ between 10th & 19th April but I suspect that's fake news.
Has anyone under 50 had an invite yet??
I'm getting impatient now!!

There's the link @GintyMcGinty

www.travellingtabby.com/scotland-coronavirus-tracker/

The numbers are updated at 3pm so will be slightly different from my screenshot this morning.

I disagree @Pootle40. While the effects of Covid seem worst in older people some children get long Covid and no one really knows when and if they will get better. The more children we allow to be infected the more misery we could cause for them in the future.

Oh yeah, long Covid..............

Mistressinthetulips · 28/04/2021 23:28

@Pootle40

Oh yeah, long Covid..............
Hmm Presumably allowing it to run through young people also gives more opportunities for the mutations that could cause us more trouble - including for the vaccinated.

I’m 48 and had Moderna last weekend. DP 46 and no letter yet, despite same GP surgery/home. We’re Grampian.

@Pootle40

Oh yeah, long Covid..............
What does that mean? Don't tell me you don't believe it's a thing when previously fit healthy adults who could run a marathon are still struggling to walk their kids to school a year after covid......

Hopefully the vaccination programme will be extended to children, once trial data are available.
It will not only protect their health, it will hopefully reduce circulation of the virus in schools and resulting disruption to education.
I know a teenager with long covid, it’s not something I’d want my kids to deal with.

Pootle40 · 29/04/2021 11:01

Got my vaccination next week - 45, Dunfermline in the new Carnegie vax centre

Pootle40 · 29/04/2021 11:02

@emmathedilemma

I think in most cases it's post viral fatigue and then there are very small numbers of people who have had worse than others

ItsLikeSputnik · 29/04/2021 11:56

I’m 47 and DH is 48 and still no letters here in North Lanarkshire. Tried calling the helpline this morning to see when/if my appointment is scheduled for and they categorically refused to help. In fact I was told they are not vaccinating any under 50s yet and no letters have been generated. I know that’s not true, so I’m disappointed by their response.

Also north lanarkshire and age 47 (me and dh). Nothing so far
deveronvalley · 29/04/2021 14:02

Aberdeenshire, age 42, blue envelope today for appointment next week. I'm a new user but been watching this thread for a while for updates so hopefully someone else will find this useful info x

KrankySchwester · 29/04/2021 14:52

48, getting vaccinated tomorrow (Perth and Kinross). DH who’s 46 has heard nothing.

StillRailing · 29/04/2021 15:46

Rare side effects from viral diseases is nothing new.
Where a massive % get a new disease in an epidemic damn right there will be a significant effect long term.

Look into scarlet fever / rheumatic fever and the heart problems that gave a minority. That's before we get to chronic fatigue issues.

emmathedilemma · 29/04/2021 15:53

ooh you're the first under 45 I've heard of @deveronvalley!

I wonder if it depends which NHS board you are in. I phoned the helpline yesterday and was given my number and appointment details - Sun 16th. I went into the booking site today to see if I could bring it forward but there's nothing in Lothian before then. But I did manage to move it to the following day at the QMU drive through which is much more convenient than the site I was booked in to.
ChrisQuean · 30/04/2021 08:40

Lothian seems to be particularly slow at sending out letters. DH moved his appointment forward yesterday from 28 May(!) at QMU to 10th at the ECC. He could have had 6th if he’d gone to Bathgate. That took quite a lot of searching though. So there are a few options.

HappyPumpkin81 · 30/04/2021 10:51

I turned 40 in March and just received my appointment for 7th of May in Moray Grin I'm really chuffed as I wasn't expecting to be called so soon. Our area is having a spike at the moment though so I wonder if they are doing us as a priority.

latissimusdorsi · 30/04/2021 10:59

Gosh that's great news @HappyPumpkin81
( not about the spike in numbers though!)

QueryA · 30/04/2021 14:04

I’ve got my blue envelope today! Friday 7th. I’m 45 in Fife. Am pleased as I was getting a bit cheesed off with hearing the ever lower age allowed to book in England but hearing nothing up here. The only other ones I’ve heard in Fife are two 48 year olds who are getting theirs today.

DeepfriedPizza · 30/04/2021 14:48

2 of my friends 44&45 got their envelopes today (Renfrewshire)

Ifyourefeelingsinister · 01/05/2021 12:19

There's no way they are going to meet the vaccine targets in Edinburgh if they keep going at the rate they are. I am early 50s and got vaccinated a month ago - they are currently doing 49 year olds. So it's taken a month to do two years of adults? At this rate they will still be doing the 40 year olds in 4 months time - surely there must be some plans to speed this up.

HetHetHet · 01/05/2021 12:55

Blue envelope in Angus here today - I shrieked when I saw it on the doormat!
