I think there's more to say when there's actual announcements of changes in the regs/ guidance - and obviously there's not been much of that recently!
I was wondering whether they would be allowed to change the date from the 26th too, due to it being a political decision. And though they are , I think (there were pandemic related caveats to purdah this time), I don't reckon they will. First because they'd be criticised for it being political (ironically) but mainly because sticking to the original date is so close to the elections they are bound to get some kind of PR/ happy electorate boost. Annoyingly.
I'd love to do some rule breaking, but my parents, who are the only people I really want to see are being annoyingly rule abiding. Also, other things I want to do (restaurants, coffee shops, cinemas, aimless browsing in John Lewis or a bookshop, singing in church, going to a play or museum, going for a swim) are still banned and closed. Keeping me safe from my dangerous and unnatural desires, obviously
.
They seem to be keeping schtum on how the "under review" of travel to the rest of the UK is proceeding. I can't see how they would justify its continued banning given the numbers, but I'll believe it when I see it. Would be so nice to get a few days away somewhere south. But again DH doesn't want to book anything til it's confirmed, and if it's not will have a rant about how illogical it all is and say we should go anyway, and then have another rant about how everywhere is booked and silly £££££. can you tell how predictable my life is at the moment
