@hilbil21

We won't be staying in our local authority as far as I know it's a message, not law. So I'm not doing it anymore. Not going wild by any means but still being "naughty" Smile
I'll be honest.....I never have!
Pootle40 · 30/03/2021 17:31

@Icannever

She said today that police would still be fining people who go outside their local area and you can’t travel anywhere until 26th April (if things go well 😬) she also said from 26th we could travel in Scotland not anywhere else (even though we have the highest rates just now) Also said hopefully schools will be back in full but depends on numbers so nothing new there On a positive note today I am very happy I live in Fife for once 😀. Eldest is at surf/kayak club every morning this week and is loving it. He’s never wanted to go to any clubs before so I’m really happy this is available and he’s enjoying it. Sorry to mention this for anyone far away from a beach. We haven’t got much in the way of decent takeaways or shops if it makes you feel better
I have lost count of the number of times I've been outside my LA for non essential purposes - never seen a single police car.
@Scottishskifun Hmmm choosing not to share the information makes me think there's a lot of cases associated with hospitals! Which I've always suspectedHmm
The data only goes to where people have been they don't do full backward tracing (only close contacts not how many unconnected people have visited a place) so can't pinpoint it exactly which might also account for it as they can't (or won't) say for definite.

I don't think they will ever release it fully it caused carnage when SG released the Aberdeen pubs list as they hadn't told the places in advance. People also bombard businesses if they find out about so the businesses are damned if they do and damned if they don't.
Supermarkets is the weird one as they rarely announce so for the public its out of sight out of mind regardless of how many positive people have visited which is really common as people go shopping and infectious period is counted as 3 days prior.

If they tell people they freak out call constantly and it damages businesses. If they don't tell and then the business is shut then people speculate. This is the biggest issue with the rhetoric that it's only if you break rules or businesses announce. People assume they have done something wrong....... Not the case at all you can have every mitigation in place but it's a virus it will find a way even if that's in low numbers or a positive case happens to attend but no transmission to staff or anyone else.

I think this is why I get so annoyed at it all and even feeling like crap from covid realise we need to learn to live with it and accept it as a fact of life. 12 months of the blame game isn't good for anyone, peoples anxiety levels or businesses.

SempreSuiGeneris · 30/03/2021 17:46

First thing DH and I said when we saw West Lothian figures was prison not Rangers supporters but if you can dog whistle and deflect why would you bother setting the record straight.

Glasgow is no longer top of the clarty charts so there.

UnderHisAye · 30/03/2021 17:52

Funnily enough @Pootle40 I went into another LA (for essential shopping!) on Sunday and while I was there, I saw 6 or 7 police vans just slowly driving about. I've only just realised that's a likely reason for it.

HadEnoughOfBears · 30/03/2021 18:03

@latissimusdorsi

Ah that makes sense. We had lot of cases associated with couple of schools in Livingston last week but I notice numbers very high further west in West Lothian and that's where the prison is!

This is the info we really need to know

I think those figures are to do with an outbreak at a primary school in that area which has had to also close, not the prison this time.

I have a friend who works in yet another primary who is dubious if they'll make it to Thursday.

latissimusdorsi · 30/03/2021 18:08

@HadEnoughOfBears oh god I hope it's not more West Lothian schoolsConfused
There's been 60 cases in that area over last week according to the Dashboard

Yeah she works at one in Livingston 🙈
Hopefully the Easter holidays will ease it off a bit.

Totally agree
Otherwise they would release the information

Oh I wouldn't get too excited. We've been knocked off top spot before but always claw our way back up there. Grin
RaspberryCoulis · 30/03/2021 20:35

North Ayrshire figures were very high for a whole due to a prison outbreak in Kilmarnock. They dint like telling people about location of outbreaks as it undermines the "it's rife, it's everywhere, stay at home" bollocks.

Scottishskifun · 30/03/2021 21:33

Yeah we get the police driving about as well by the beach but I've never seen them actually stop anyone. Mostly I think they just do it to be seen to be "enforcing" they don't seem to issue any fines just make sure no big groups of teenagers etc.

jerometheturnipking · 30/03/2021 21:52

With the possibility of hospital or prison outbreaks - are the hospitals/prisons recorded as the location of the test then? I sort of assumed that hospital cases would refer back to the patients home postcode.

latissimusdorsi · 30/03/2021 22:13

Hospital cases will be recorded at home address. So cases caught in hospital can affect stats in many areas.
Prisons will likely be recorded as prison postcode as that's where they, erm, live!

Icannever · 31/03/2021 11:52

Apparently Police were issuing fines in Fife to people on beaches who’d travelled too far across Fife! I have no actual proof of this it was just mentioned on some wild swimming Facebook groups I am on as a warning to avoid certain beaches on certain days. Maybe your fine as long as you avoid beaches 😀

Icannever · 31/03/2021 11:56

Outside attractions here (of which there are not many) do take your postcode and will not let you in if your are not local. I would have thought that would be standard practice? I’d be too scared of the kids meltdowns to risk attempting the safari park or zoo or something and not getting in.

We were watching a movie last night where the family went to a theme park and my 8 year old was so sad (and still is this morning). He says he just wants to go somewhere fun and for life to be normal. He even wants to go for a big journey despite always hating them before. He says we should have gone to England when we allowed last summer 😬.

Bytheloch · 31/03/2021 12:09

If you are members/have annual membership of any theme park or visitor attraction, I think they’d be unlikely to refuse you entry with tickets bought online.
I’d politely ask for a refund of my membership in a loud voice blame the face mask and make a bit of a fuss if so. For general tickets, where premises are considered ‘covid safe’ that’s where their responsibility ends, they have no right to enforce a postcode/council entry system. If anywhere is, that’s their own choosing and more fool them.
Most places won’t have the resources to check everyone either, they’ll just be glad of the business again.

rookiemere · 31/03/2021 13:36

DH and I had our vaccine this morning. Feel they could have been handling about three times the volume of people going through and staff outnumbered the being vaccinated by about 6 to 1.

On the plus side it was very efficient and all the staff were lovely. We treated ourselves to a KFC salad box afterwards and a celebratory jaunt round Decathlon and Home Bargains.

I have a sore arm but nothing more sinister at the minute thankfully.

I’ve seen those of reports too - police handing out fines to people in Aberdour. Either it’s a nonsense or it was people outside of Fife getting fined. Some people on Facebook argue that your local authority would be your postcode area/town - so there may be individual officers with that misunderstanding too. At no point have they said you can’t travel further than x amount of miles for exercise, it’s always been within your local authority or up to 5 miles from the boundary 🤷🏻‍♀️
SempreSuiGeneris · 31/03/2021 13:56

Wow. If you're in a City postcode area hardly gets you the length of your nose nevermind the regulation 5 mile round trip walk for exercise. In fact most of the outer boundary of Glasgow is within 5 miles of the centre. That's something like 50 postcodes.

Just highlights how massively unfair and counter productive the stay local rule is in terms of spreading us out.

Sorry railing in the wrong place. Blush

You can see England's numbers moving and over time switching the balance towards the second doses.

This is the thing - it's not by postcode, it's your council area + 5 miles. So someone in Fife could walk the Forth Road Bridge and up to another 5 miles into Edinburgh. There's nothing in the legislation that says you can only travel x miles from your home. I have to travel further to get to St Andrews for a walk than I would need to travel to get to e.g. the Kelpies. But the Kelpies are 6 miles from Fife so not allowed.
RaspberryCoulis · 31/03/2021 16:32

I'm in the 45-49 age group so next in line for the vaccine. Omni calculator confidently predicting i'll get my first jab sometime between 5th April (this monday coming) and 13th April.

I'm not holding my breath.
