@TeenTraumaTrials When you click on Edinburgh on the tabby map it shows as -20, E Lothian also comes up as a minus

WouldBeGood · 25/03/2021 21:18

Travelling tabby tweeted about it

fluffyugg · 25/03/2021 21:26

Just had a look, don't know what it's all about but if anyone does know...is it good or bad? HmmGrin

Haudyourwheesht · 25/03/2021 21:33

I think there are issues again with W Lothian's numbers including catch up figures from previous days.

Re the briefing - can Jason or Gregor or someone not do it? We can't not talk about covid for 6 weeks (while we're still in bloody lockdown).

TeenTraumaTrials · 25/03/2021 22:11

Thanks WouldBeGood. That explains it.

UnderHisAye · 26/03/2021 09:33

I still don't get it but my impression is that it's good Grin Confused

88 hospital admissions though, that's fairly high isn't it?

dancemom · 26/03/2021 09:45

Just to remember though it's patients in hospital with a positive case, not necessarily that they are in hospital because of Covid.

My friends dad had cancer, on a hospital ward, the whole ward came down with Covid ( as did my friend her husband and her sister, her sisters family and then her sisters ex husband via the kids!) and had to be closed but although all the patients tested positive none were actually hospital patients because of Covid.

Kind of puts a different slant on numbers.

UnderHisAye · 26/03/2021 09:52

But doesn't 'admissions' imply 'people who were admitted in the last 24 hours'?

dancemom · 26/03/2021 10:03

Sorry I misread your post, I thought you were referring to hospital numbers

OP posts:
UnderHisAye · 26/03/2021 10:13

Ah no, just admissions. 88 seems very high compared to recent days.

Bytheloch · 26/03/2021 10:15

Aligned to staying in our council areas- interesting to already see that the FM has been campaigning (including stopping at a coffee shop) outside her own residential council area.
Essential work? Or is it? Presumably any candidates who don’t reside within their constituency will be out and about, meeting others, possibly having a takeaway here and there.
But minions must stay within our council areas. Do look out for your loved ones on the telly meeting prospective politicians, it might be the only time you’ve seen them in months...

UnderHisAye · 26/03/2021 10:23

I don't know, nobody on here seemed that arsed when Boris Johnson flew up to save the union in January.

If we're treating them the same then I think the FM of the nation has to be visible to people across the country.

SempreSuiGeneris · 26/03/2021 10:28

Afaik "Admissions" is misleading. If you are already in hospital and subsequently test +ve you are counted as a new admission. Similarly if you transfer wards and are then readmitted while +ve you potentially count multiple times.

UnderHisAye · 26/03/2021 10:34

Oh, that's interesting. Still not great for it to have shot up but interesting.

Bytheloch · 26/03/2021 10:37

FM was supporting another SNP candidate. It wasn’t necessary for both to be there.

Stay Home minions, right?

speedtalker · 26/03/2021 10:42

I heard from a hospital doc in West Lothian that they were seeing lots of people turning up with breathlessness and wheezing, I guess from covid. I wonder if they don't actually stay, if they are counted as admissions? So, then, with the increased nos in West Lothian having unpleasant but not ICU worthy covid because they are younger?

latissimusdorsi · 26/03/2021 10:43

Most of the folk I know who've had Covid this winter caught it from being in hospital or relative of someone who'd just come home from hospitalConfused

latissimusdorsi · 26/03/2021 10:50

@speedtalker I'm pretty sure you're only counted as hospital admission if you're actually put in a bed in a ward.

StarryEyeSurprise · 26/03/2021 10:51

I'm quite sure I read that the candidate who was out with NS is a refugee and if she wins, will be the first to become an MSP. I'm away to try and find out more.

WouldBeGood · 26/03/2021 10:53

It’s ironic if you’re allowed to help refugees campaign if you’re NS, but not to go and give them food and clothes like the charity my friend volunteers for.

She had to get “illegal” donations and sneak them up herself for a family who had had to flee with nothing.

UnderHisAye · 26/03/2021 10:55

It wasn't necessary for BJ to bypass numerous Lighthouse labs in England to visit the one in Scotland either, while there was a Stay At Home order for both nations.

I was told on here that I was being an arse for suggesting it was a cynical move to shore up union support (there was some pro-indy thing going on that week, can't remember) and that as PM it's important for him to be visible to constituents in all corners of the country.

WouldBeGood · 26/03/2021 10:58

I’m sure that Boris Johnson’s presence anywhere can only serve to increase support for anyone standing against him to be fair 😃

UnderHisAye · 26/03/2021 11:06

That's what I thought, bring it on you absolute straw-haired rocket. Grin

StarryEyeSurprise · 26/03/2021 11:07

Donating isn't illegal though and neither is dropping off clothes, food etc to someone regardless of whether they're a refugee or not.

Refuweegee accept donations and pass them on to those in need.

Scottishskifun · 26/03/2021 11:13

A lot of the childrens/family support charities in my area are only able to accept brand new items currently.
They have set up amazon lists for people. I don't know why its the case but has been for several months now.
It means they are struggling as the cost to buy new when people are hard hit is difficult.

I don't think a lot of it is illegal by the legislation but guidance is very difficult to follow and then you also have the individual opinions as well so it definitely doesn't make it easy!
