@frasersmummy

where do I find details stats for smaller areas. I can only find the stats per council areas.. nothing more detailed

sorry if i'm being thick

various places, but if you go on here and scroll down to Cases by Intermediate Zone - you can put in the area and it will give you data on all the sub areas. So if I put in Stirling it gives me data for all the areas in Stirling and you can click on the headings to rank them by the different categories.

www.travellingtabby.com/scotland-coronavirus-tracker/local

You can do similar on the UK version .

Cismyfatarse · 14/03/2021 16:41

DH (now working in various vaccine hubs) says everything is gearing up for many, many more jags. That said, he is being given shifts every day, and all over the place but not on Mondays. Is that the new Sunday?

Also, be warned, you will be given a very specific time and can only be 10 minutes late or they may not do you that day.

And people are being sent all over for the actual jag, not necessarily their nearest place.

Suntimesahead · 14/03/2021 16:51

Remember last week NS said our R numbers was going up and she thought to one or over. Well it’s actually down to 6-8. Honestly how much gaslighting will we accept.
We could all see the % of testing being under 5% for days

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 14/03/2021 17:00

It will DEFINITELY go up after next week. Schools going back will undoubtedly have an impact. I laughed when measuring out 2m between the desks in my classroom at the thought of the social distancing that will go on on the way to and from school and at break and lunchtime.

Plus we've already got many many posters on here saying 'if they can in a classroom with their friends they can go to a friend's house'.

frasersmummy · 14/03/2021 17:07

cheers @WaxOnFeckOff I was indeed being thick..

thats really interesting -some of the numbers are a bit mad.

I didnt realise how few cases it takes in to push local areas up into 150 cases per 100k of the population ..

Do you know what the reason is for being sent all over the place? One of DHs colleagues (mid 30s but immunocompromised so on the CV list) was sent to Haddington in East Lothian for his, rather than somewhere in Edinburgh, where he lives. He doesn't drive, so has been investigating bus timetables, which seems a bit counterintuitive in terms of the not using public transport, especially if you're vulnerable spiel! He asked if he could go to somewhere more accessible like the huge fuck off conference centre they have in the middle of Edinburgh set up as a hub, but was told not til May Shock. He thought it may be because he needed the Pfizer jag rather than AZ, but it does seem random. And concerning that Edinburgh has such a long waiting list. I thought the aim was to get everyone's first doze done by July(?), so a 2 month backlog already, for people well up the priority list doesn't bode well.

The Gov really do need to push that message home and EXPLAIN the logic.

It's up there with the Just Say No to drugs campaign, telling people No without explanation just doesn't work.

Cismyfatarse · 14/03/2021 17:34

I don't know why. Pfizer is only in a few places and DH has so far been in church hall type locations. In Fife Pfizer is in St Andrews but DH has only seen Oxford so far.

On the positive side, today he managed to get spares for 2 friends - both teachers in their 50s.

makingitupaswegoon · 14/03/2021 17:37

@ResilienceWanker
huge conference centre in Edinburgh often not as busy as you would imagine if what I've heard is true ... people who have been surprised by capacity to offer vaccinations compared to numbers of people actually there. They don't seem to have factored in that as they hope to vaccinate the working age population people do tend to have more commitments and cannot drop everything to attend an appointment when letter only arrives 2 days beforehand.

rookiemere · 14/03/2021 17:39

@makingitupaswegoon I think the issue is that many in Lothians didn't receive their letter in advance.

You can also see it in map version on the 'cases by neighborhood' tab on the PHS tableau site and selecting your LA

It's not about the chances of getting the virus being higher in homes than in school, it's that the rewards of being in school are higher so it's been deemed more worthy of the risk. I don't feel I've explained that well, but hopefully you know what I mean! Grin

ResilienceWanker · 14/03/2021 17:54

Yes, I know the wussy snowflake Pfizer vaccine can't be taken to many venues as it can't cope well with being moved once thawed. But for someone who lives about a mile from Edinburgh's Royal Infirmary, which must have capacity to store and administer it, to be sent so far away just seems weird. But great things are progressing anyway, and that the Oxford one at least is getting into lots of arms!

I've heard that too makingitup! I'm hoping it's just a ramping up thing, but I really wish they'd bring in some kind of self-booking system when you could choose dates and times convenient for you. I do wonder if that's why Lothian is so slow compared to the rest of the country, because loads of people are missing appointments they just can't make (though I know no one in Scotland can self book). Although a single huge central hub seems like a good idea to "catch" city centre workers, its a bit of an arse if you happen to be WFH and don't live that near the city centre. It would take at least an hour for me to walk there, plus general hanging around time, so probably half a day gone, depending on appointment time. Smaller, more dispersed venues in the different neighbourhoods (Church halls, libraries, leisure centres, community centres etc) would seem more logical to me. But, hey, I'm not an NHS logistics person, so what do I know...

RaindropsSplashRainbows · 14/03/2021 17:57

In January there were complaints that Livingston residents were being invited to Leith for vaccination.

The issue about being in a house is the ventilation so even if keeping distance it can still build up in the air. The govt has briefly explained this with the keep your windows open at Xmas if having people in your house but they want the economy to open up and people to feel safe at work so they stress on distance rather than air build up indoors!
Scottishskifun · 14/03/2021 18:06

I also have no idea why we cannot use a booking system it makes sense for peeto be able to select their own bloody appointments around commitments!!!!

Its really not that hard but seems we are unable to/unwilling to ask the UK govt to use their system...... 🙄 Angry

Scottishskifun · 14/03/2021 18:07

*people to be able

Yes, it seems like a "feature" of the system they have that just sends people to where the vaccine is, rather than the vaccine to where the people are. And then act confused as to why so many people are missing appointments! Hmm
ResilienceWanker · 14/03/2021 18:21

Someone explained the "mixing in school but not in homes" thing well last week I think. As well as the ventilation, there is the overall increasing of contacts. So all the contacts of an infected child at school are a given. But if that child has also been to a friend's house, they will also have potentially infected the friend's parents, siblings etc which they wouldn't have if the children had just mixed at school. So rather than just the two children needing to isolate (plus the infected child's household), the friends household would also need to isolate as contacts. No actual change to overall numbers (assuming no one else is actually infected) but a right PITA for the family concerned.

makingitupaswegoon · 14/03/2021 18:38

@ResilienceWanker
Yes it will take me over an hour to get to the EICC walking too which is bonkers - there's no parking - and the info on NHS lothian website says it is OK to take the bus because it is an essential journey (perhaps missing the point that people aren't comfortable going on buses now because we have been told for a year we cannot safely leave our houses). I suspect the system has been designed by men ... and the conference centre has been given free of charge. I too would prefer to go to a local hub.

Coquohvan · 14/03/2021 19:16

If passports are to be used I’m thinking it’ll be our GP’s who issue them for a price.

Scottishskifun · 14/03/2021 20:03

Seriously what is going on with vaccines..... My predicted date has slipped twice now for Scotland it's now saying end of June.....for England it's saying early May!

Lockdownbear · 14/03/2021 20:11

@Scottishskifun can I ask what age bracket you are in?

I don't think the UK Gov will be happy if Scotland or any other bit of the UK fucks up the vaccine program.

Calculator is wrong!
If you look on the "why can't we book our vaccine" thread someone has posted theirs is showing April and they've already had itHmm
