@Beithe

I'm not sure how optimistic I'd be about early years of primary school and covid. Two primary schools in and around Stirling have moved to online learning because of cases in the schools.
I’m in the Stirling Council Covid catchment Zone™️ and the only cases I’ve heard of in schools here are connected to the older key worker children, nothing related to P1-3 returning to school. None of the children tested, but all the primary school bubble isolated as one KW parent tested positive from a flow test at work in a Dundee hospital.
dancemom · 13/03/2021 14:16

• 639 new cases of COVID-19 reported
• 23,284 new tests for COVID-19 that reported results – 3.4% of these were positive
• 8 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive
• 38 people were in intensive care yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19 no change
• 479 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed COVID-19 down 33

Thanks @dancemom

Over 600 cases again today!

sparkle17 · 13/03/2021 16:42

Bit of a concern that cases are rising again

dancemom · 13/03/2021 16:44

Cases rising but percentage is still low, more asymptomatic testing centres have opened plus more testing with schools going back I would guess?

Purplebees · 13/03/2021 16:44

Yes I can’t believe cases are rising already. Do you think it’s due to p1-3s being back ?

Oh I hope not! Doesn't bode well if it isHmm

From looking at the trends demographic on public health there is an increase in 0-14 and 25-44 year olds which will have a certain attribute to schools going back but it won't be the sole reason.

My LA has a school outbreak which makes the numbers shoot up but it also shows why numbers shouldn't be used alone longterm as even with all adults vaccinated your still going to get numbers in children! With increased testing your going to pick these up.

Cases have risen most in rangers supporting areas as far as I can see; Greater Glasgow, Ayrshire, Lanarkshire and Stirlingshire. The celebrations of last Saturday outdoor and indoors might well be part of the rise.

The organisers of a vigil for Sarah Everard, a 33 year old woman who was brutally murdered were told that they would face £10,000 fines for breaching Covid regulations. C'mon Scottish Government let's see that for the people who organised last Saturday's celebrations. I know the defence would be that it was unplanned but there must be evidence of people saying, let's go to George Square.

latissimusdorsi · 13/03/2021 17:22

As long as hospital numbers are coming down and positive rate stays under 5% then hopefully that will be sufficient to progress with easing lockdown?

Not forgetting the police stood right there and watched them piss all over the streets and break the furniture.
WaxOnFeckOff · 13/03/2021 18:02

I'm not into football. But just wanted to point out that cases in Stirlingshire and forth valley in general have been in the red since Christmas so I'm not really sure we can blame last weekends shit show. Also plenty celtic fans in the area from what I can see.

fluffyugg · 13/03/2021 18:04

@latissimusdorsi yes, I think so too...if the case numbers are increasing because more asymptomatic people are being found then they won't translate into hospital admissions. Hopefully also as more people are vaccinated the numbers will come down. Just hope the positivity rate remains low and return to school after Easter for secondary isn't jeopardised in any way🤞

Lidlfix · 13/03/2021 18:12

A Stirlingshire village (which to be fair has topped the Covid charts throughout) now has none of its children, from early years to exam years, are able to attend school. It is very well known to be a "Rangers" village. A coincidence; maybe? But I know how many of my wider acquaintances on social media went to Glasgow and are joyfully planning their next outing. Grim.

Sorry for the classmates and teachers as school age pupils were there.

Even more pity for the poor souls who don't give a shiny shit about football but their DC are staying home.

UnderHisAye · 13/03/2021 18:24

That is fucking awful @Lidlfix

MotherofTerriers · 13/03/2021 18:39

Can I ask a really dumb question please - I'm hoping to be told I've read this wrong.
The Scottish government website has details of the restrictions for each tier level. Even in level 0 - which I had thought would be us getting back to normal - the maximum number of people you could have in your home would be 8, from 3 different households. Tier 1 and above, no socialising in a private house.
Does this mean that even when everyone is vaccinated, we can never again invite people round for dinner/drinks?
I can't see Glasgow ever getting to tier 0

That village is No. 3 in the UK for it's 7 day rate. We do however have the area that is No. 1 in the UK also in Stirling! Overall we are only 9th - so that's a relief....

Honestly last year we were one of the least affected areas, kept in lock down by shared hospital facilities for Lanarkshire, now look at us?

@mibbelucieachwell it speaks for itself, doesn’t it? I wish they would get the Old Firm to fuck. The amount of damage their existence causes in Glasgow. I hate them, vehemently.
AgentCooper · 13/03/2021 19:06

And honestly, the Old Firm gets treated like the fucking Mafia. Everyone is too scared to rock the boat because of what the fans will do, whether that’s regarding how people will vote or where certain rich people will put their money.

LizzieMacQueen · 13/03/2021 19:25

What village in Stirlingshire?

dancemom · 13/03/2021 19:26

It does enrage me that they won't take a stand against them, our kids are wearing masks, can only attend school part time and stay 2m apart in order to get an education they are legally entitled to but SG will only threaten to cancel the Old Firm when they know the crowds it's going to result in and the repercussions from it
