Oh thanks, I think I've NC'd now about three times in the last few months. I keep mistakenly outing myself and I know my best friend is on MN so I try to keep under the radar ;)

I do sometimes go back to an old username which feels like my 'real' name somehow.

WouldBeGood · 12/03/2021 14:16

I can’t name change as I can’t work out how to do it and keep this account 😳

My DCs' old school had a buzzer system that was set so high the younger primary kids couldn't reach it! Excellent installation there. Top notch.

JL is talking about a reverse gear, we're only in first gear as it is! Bloody hell. Instead of 'we are never ever ever getting back together' I keep hearing we're never ever ever getting out of this. Happy Friday!

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/03/2021 14:25

If you wanted to change, you go to My Mumsnet and then settings and you can then just type in a new one and save it and it saves your old ones in the history. It will ask you to log in again to change it so you'll need to know your log in details.

I've only had this name on this account but did have an old account on an old email address that I ended up having to get rid off after it got hacked and it was just easier to start again. Been here 10 years but this account for probably 5 or 6 years.

WouldBeGood · 12/03/2021 14:52

I log in via sm as I can’t remember my log in details, fool that I am

I’m actually happy that DS is going in one day a week even if it’s less online. He needs company more than he needs learning.

Does anyone know what's going on in Stirling - it's back up again!! I wish they would be transparent about why.

shouldistop · 12/03/2021 15:03

I might be talking rubbish but could the mass vaccination centres cause a temporary rise in cases as more people go out to get vaccinations at the same places?

OldRailer · 12/03/2021 15:04

They surely have more info than they give out.

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/03/2021 15:04

I have no clue but they have now shut a few schools and have set up testing specifically for folk in the area with children at school.

Forth Valley apparently already do 50% more testing than average. We haven't been out of the red since Christmas.

celtiethree · 12/03/2021 15:08

It dipped down to 113 per 100,00 in Stirling earlier in the week and now back to to 141. The worst in Scotland! And they will use these numbers to decide tiers. Even if we are initially all coming out of lockdown together.

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/03/2021 15:18

I know :( There is a few days lag with the 7 day number so it reflects up to a few days ago. I noted we were lower today but just also just had a couple of higher days and if they are doing more testing again then I think it will be ages before it drops again.

Given that we were one of the consistently low areas right up until the end of the summer, it's really gutting.

WouldBeGood · 12/03/2021 15:27

Are hospitals overwhelmed?

OP posts:
tiredoftiers · 12/03/2021 15:27

Number are definitely up this week, testing is up as well, and vaccinations seem to have slowed right down.

It's not making for an attractive picture. I keep coming back to the British kid in France who tested positive and had so many contacts, but never shared it. We don't seem to be any closer to identifying who transmits it and where, I know they've said that x% who tested positive had visited a supermarket but then realistically there's no where else to go. I still would love for them to track back so to speak. Numbers should now be low enough to do this.

UnderHisAye · 12/03/2021 15:30

Apparently vaccinations are about to go up due to a boost in supply; I think Jeanne Freeman said next week or the week after we'll be able to vaccinate 400,000 in a week (which is the gov target on the online calculator).

I do feel really disheartened at the numbers ticking up again. I keep looking online as if some new piece of news is going to point to something better.

WouldBeGood · 12/03/2021 15:33

Surely it doesn’t matter though if people aren’t ill in hospital?

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 12/03/2021 15:33

Or indeed ill at all, in many cases

OP posts:
celtiethree · 12/03/2021 15:38

It shouldn't matter if people aren't in hospital but it's one of the lead measures that they use to drive the tier level - and the levels are tougher now based on WHO. Last year Stirling had good numbers but was still locked down hard, so the current high numbers does not give any cause for optimism

fandabbydoozy · 12/03/2021 15:39

what British kid in France? Confused

WouldBeGood · 12/03/2021 15:39

I’m railing a lot against this.

The approach is ridiculous

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 12/03/2021 15:39

The SG, not posters here 😂

OP posts:
WaxOnFeckOff · 12/03/2021 15:39

I agree @WouldBeGood but it's frustrating when we are being judged on numbers when we don't know what the specific issues are and that we can do nothing about it and yet the tiers will be set using them.

As flawed as the hospitalisations and death figures are, we should be using those rather than the more flawed positive test figures.

fandabbydoozy · 12/03/2021 15:40

@WouldBeGood I've got like 20 usernames now, I change between them all the time to avoid being outed etc

shouldistop · 12/03/2021 15:41

I think the reason they're using case numbers is due to worries about new variants, but then where is the end game with this? Lock us up forever?
