I'm stunned by it all, it all seems so strange and such an odd hill for her to die on.

Still from my perspective today is looking a lot better than yesterday Grin. Concrete plans to get DS14 back to school and Scottish Independence plans imploding - and totally self generated- for the next few years.

It's amazing how politics can turn in a heart beat, couple of months ago and the SNP position was unassailable, and nothing external has changed.

WouldBeGood · 03/03/2021 09:21

@rookiemere the mood has definitely lifted here now DS and I have a date for his return!

anon444877 · 03/03/2021 09:24

my DH is now totally convinced he's getting abroad this summer, if he had a tail it would wag. Still think we'll get to next Tuesday and it'll be a damp squib as my expectations have been crashed too many times!

rookiemere · 03/03/2021 09:28

I think abroad is a separate matter and - much as I'd love to be going to Majorca in August- I can see the point of a bit of joined up UK caution- if such a thing exists.

I'd hate for us to be locked up again and feel I'd like to get most of adult population having at least first jab before introducing any new variables to the equation. Mind you vaccination is going so fast that could be done before July.

anon444877 · 03/03/2021 09:35

I'm not sure I have faith left that a bit more caution will prevent new variants or a winter lockdown - not least as a flu spike is now predicted for next winter. I do think dr Pangloss is still in operation though and will be finding the last back up option available this week.

jabbathebutt · 03/03/2021 09:38

Spain seem desperate to get us back and I'll go if we don't have to test / quarantine / wear face masks everywhere in the hotel or beach.

I'm early 40s so we were learning about devolution when I was doing my SG and Highers.

I also studied politics as part of my degree - we had to do 5 subjects at Strathclyde in our first year so politics was one. I dropped politics after 1st year because it was all about the bloody SNP and devolution could lead to independence.

I did have a lot of admiration for Donald Dewar though.

anon444877 · 03/03/2021 09:41

I learned about devolution in politics A level before new Labour came in and remember being a big fan. I'm still a fan but there is a question to answer about stoking nationalism and the way it's been setup.

Really? I did a politics degree and there wasn't much about devolution in it; although I did choose to do my dissertation about it to be fair.

🤣 great comment @anon444877

rookiemere · 03/03/2021 10:01

@anon444877 who's Dr Pangloss and why's he organising your holidays ?

Scottishskifun · 03/03/2021 10:09

As much as I would love a holiday abroad its not worth the new costs at the moment for a family. Cost of test before you fly, cost of test to return followed by cost of tests when quarantining at home so its about £400 per person minimum in tests!

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 03/03/2021 10:19

I'm just hoping to get up north to see my family. (If I could get to the pub while I was there that would be a bonus.) I think if we're not released from scabby Glasgow by then I'll just go anyway.

anon444877 · 03/03/2021 10:38

well quite rookie - my DH is dr pangloss, hopeless optimist about trips abroad this year. I have got to wrest control of holiday booking for 2021 from him. I would at least like to go somewhere!

GirlLovesWorld · 03/03/2021 10:49

I don't want a holiday that involves masks and distancing and tests either. We'll just kick about here over the summer and countdown until next Summer!

rookiemere · 03/03/2021 11:18

Ah @anon444877 I now know who Dr Pangloss is, I may start calling DH that Grin.

dancemom · 03/03/2021 13:47

A further 543 positive tests were reported in past 24 hours, with test positivity falling to 2.6%

There are 750 people in hospital, which is down 34.
There are 69 people in intensive care, down two from yesterday.

Thanks @dancemom been over on the other thread but kept checking for your update.

GirlLovesWorld · 03/03/2021 13:49

2.6% - wow, that's great Smile

dancemom · 03/03/2021 13:53

I got distracted on the other thread too!

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 03/03/2021 13:57

2.6%! That's amazing.

I wonder if the asymptomatic testing centres will make people take more risks? My first thought was that if I take a test and am negative I can go and see family. DH wont let me anyway.

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 03/03/2021 13:57

Just noticed 2.6! Wow that's incredible. Could it be we are allowed oot son 🤞

museumum · 03/03/2021 14:13

Test positivity as a measure really confuses me as surely it depends on who goes to be tested - you’d expect a higher % when the messaging is really strict on “tests are for the key symptoms only” and a much lower % when it’s easier to get a test with vague or no symptoms.

fluffyugg · 03/03/2021 14:16

2.6% is great. Bit concerned by 34 untraced passengers not traced on the Aberdeen flight yet...sounds like it was a busyish flight after all if they've managed to contact 20 odd Confused

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 03/03/2021 14:16

I don't get it either @museumum but know ScotGov bang on about it all the time as a marker so taking it as a plus

WaxOnFeckOff · 03/03/2021 14:17

Yep, I've banged on plenty about how this figure is so easily manipulated by testing availability etc.
