Oops and wrong thread also I think . I am a Numpty Blush.

@Lockdownbear

It had to happen sooner or later. Does that mean NS needs to get of her soapbox and self isolate?

I don't know if it was a spoof / photoshopped image or not but I was shown a photo of NS, and about a dozen other people all crammed in around a telly at Holyrood watching AS giving statement.

Depends on contact tracing and locations.

She will probably have a test done as precaution even if she isn't a contact as for large workplace outbreaks they do testing to pick up asystomatic cases.

Icannever · 07/03/2021 10:24

I booked a test at the community testing site you don’t need symptoms for. There were 475 spaces left for today 😀

mibbelucieachwell · 07/03/2021 10:43

fandabby.

You'll get a letter in a blue envelope with your appointment on it. You don't need to do anything except turn up with your letter unless you can't make your appointment in which case there are instructions in the letter for how to rebook.

speedtalker · 07/03/2021 11:24

Ooooh, I'll be so grumpy if a Holyrood outbreak involving MSPs travelling pushes Edinburgh's levels below a tier with fewer restrictions!

fandabbydoozy · 07/03/2021 11:28

when do we find out tiers again? I keep forgetting.

rookiemere · 07/03/2021 11:30

Is it end of April for the retiering?

Not holding my breath, also in Edinburgh. Have given up on it all, no hope and nothing to aim for. We're planning to break across the border for a day in the Easter holidays to see relatives.

Scottishskifun · 07/03/2021 11:31

@fandabbydoozy

There is due to be "more information" on how the tiers will work, what they will include etc in the next 2 weeks but we won't know what tiers areas are going into til the week before I suspect.
Scottishskifun · 07/03/2021 11:32

Sorry wasn't very clear April will know most likely the tier each area will go into.

dancemom · 07/03/2021 14:30

I just want to be able to go abroad without quarantine or testing.

Unlikely to happen before october week according to JL though.

rookiemere · 07/03/2021 15:23

I've just rearranged flights for DH and I to have a weekend to Dubrovnik start of October. It can be moved - Easyjet flights and cancellable hotel - but surely to goodness by October it might be possible.

TeacupDrama · 07/03/2021 15:51

here in Argyll cases are 17.5 per 100k which in old tiers was tier 0 and even now would be tier 1, I do not think anywhere in Scotland would be above 3 and most would be in 2

Scottishskifun · 07/03/2021 15:57

Unfortunately level now for tier 2 threshold is 50/100,000 which puts most of Scotland into tier 3! A few places are new tier 1 but not many, Northern Isles not a clue so low should go into zero..... A few places are tier 2......

Reality is they are unlikely to follow that will give a "we are doing this as a precaution" or will lump places together such as Dundee and Angus or Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire...... Better for the cities as will bring their rate down sucks for the more rural places as will boot them up a level!

RaspberryCoulis · 07/03/2021 16:30

Compliance is definitely on the wane, isn't it? Lots of people out and about and socialising. Drove up to Drymen yesterday and the drive-thru coffee cabin place at Carbeth was HEAVING. All good with me, people have clearly had enough and are doing what they can.

Also companies appear to ne doing what they can to survive. I posted last week that my hairdresser was coming. Also we've had money put aside for a bathroom renovation for about a year, contacted the company last week assuming they wouldn't be working but they are. So we're having someone round to talk about that this week too.

I agree with a lot of the stuff about blended learning - teachers can't be in 2 places at once. So if they're teaching a certain %age of the class, they can't be online for the rest of the class. It's really not "blended learning".

I have a S1 and yes in an ideal world I'd want him in 100% as of the 15th. But the Scot Gov have been clear that's not an option. I think on balance it's more important for my older children in exam years to be in full time asap and if that means S1, S2 and S3 have to wait until Easter, then so be it.

Scottishskifun · 07/03/2021 16:39

The outdoor rule change was ridiculous in the first place if you get it the person in your house is highly likely to get it! We went for a walk last week with friends..... I walked 3 metres ahead chatting to my friend and my DH did the same..... End of walk we both got into our respective cars! No difference in 1 or 2 people or even 4/6 it's the number of households.

But yep people are fed up with being told they are "breaking the law" by seeing 2 people at once or checking up on their mum etc.

Scottishskifun · 07/03/2021 16:41

Although your hairdresser should be very careful as they can get served with a prohibition notice which then puts their ability to receive any grants or business support from the govt! My DH does covid compliance as a job and they have issued several of these. If they ignore they end up in court.

WouldBeGood · 07/03/2021 16:42

Yep, town was hoaching today when I drove through.

WouldBeGood · 07/03/2021 16:42

I still want my s1 in full time. It should be the case.

TeacupDrama · 07/03/2021 16:47

compliance is dropping because people don't see Government as being capable of tying own shoe laces never mind following science, and making reasonable judgements re risk

GirlLovesWorld · 07/03/2021 17:01

My friend who is 40 with no other factors just got a call this afternoon offering her the vaccine tomorrow. That's Dundee.

I think it goes by GP surgeries maybe; my parents got their jab a week before my ILs despite being a full decade younger.

Windyone · 07/03/2021 17:08

@Scottishskifun City of Edinburgh is at 43/100,000 if I understand the numbers correctly which is tier 2. So by the end of April they will hopefully be much lower but I can’t imagine the SG will let us go into a low tier 🙄

Scottishskifun · 07/03/2021 17:21

@Windyone yep my area is old new tier 1 I am extremely doubtful that we will go into this!
The tier system made some sense on paper (not holding Shetland based on central belt numbers for example) but reality is they never actually stuck to it! I am in no doubt it will be the same this time around and the excuses we will hear is......
It's too soon
We are being precautionary
The new variant
Putting schools first
It's "better for businesses" to do it this way
It's too close to x area which is high
X area is linked to Y area (despite case numbers being very different)
Or all of the above!

Would love to be proved wrong but I highly doubt I will be!

rookiemere · 07/03/2021 17:59

Cramond Island was absolutely heaving this afternoon. In fact I made DH cut our walk short as I found all the people being around annoying. DH reckons it is because I am unused to being in crowds any more, but I reckon it's because I'm not overly fond of too many people.

DS14 is unable to play football any more as the goals have been locked up at the council pitches they were going to. I mean I get it's illegal and all, but why do it now as opposed to last June or in January?

WouldBeGood · 07/03/2021 18:06

That’s horrible about the football goals @rookiemere!

What a message to send to youngsters about keeping fit and healthy. Really sad, and totally counterproductive when we do know the dangers of unfitness and obesity.
