@TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong

Got my jab yesterday... somewhat bemused as to why I got it so soon (48, no health conditions) unless there's a "fat list" somewhere and we fatties are being called in case of complications....I heard some anecdata that you're more likely to react to vaccine if you've had Covid (I had it back in November but v mildly despite the fatness).

I got Pfizer and have a sore arm, slight headache and am v tired today but nothing unmanageable... colleague got hers last week ( younger and v slim and equally confused as to why she got an appointment so early), but had AZ and was wiped out... said it was like having the beginning of Covid all over again... my Mum had a similar reaction (although she hasn't had Covid as far as she knows ).

We both work in a school and initially thought that might be why we wee invited, but no other colleagues have had there's and some are older and have health issues that I'd have thought gave them priority 🤔

Strange, my husband's cousin got his last week. Early 30s and no health conditions. He's a PE lecturer at Glasgow Caledonian. Must have been a computer error.
StarryEyeSurprise · 06/03/2021 18:43

Great so many are getting theirs though! Grin

jabbathebutt · 06/03/2021 18:57

are university staff getting vaccinated earlier because I've heard nothing

ItsIgginningtolooklikelockdown · 06/03/2021 18:59

No occupations other than health and social care are being prioritised are they

No. Especially since he's wfh and I'm in school!

DH had AZ a couple of days ago, has been very very tired, slept away 2 afternoons and still been early in bed. Arm sorer than he expected. No other symptoms other than possibly a mild headache. His work mate had mild symptoms with first jab but 2nd one has made him quite unwell. We think DH and i had covid last March but his work mate has never had any symptoms. DH was already isolating because of me when he started showing symptoms (7 days after me).

kurtrussellsbeard · 06/03/2021 19:23

Even with the side effects I'm still so excited to get it. Will feel like a real watershed moment.

florafoxtrot · 06/03/2021 19:26

My parents got theirs this week. They are in 60-64 age group. Just got a call to come in for spares doses though. BILs got theirs too as unpaid carers for my nephew. And two pals working in healthcare got theirs second doses. Do hope we can start to hit the high numbers again soon though.

Coquohvan · 06/03/2021 19:39

DH & I had Pfizer no side effects at all. The data thread has very good for all things COVID Vaccines & school testing - especially discussing false positive data
Could be that Pfizer 2nd doze has more side effects whereas AZ 1st one is.
As there isn’t enough data to back this up it’s purely anecdotal at this stage.
Our daughter 30 got AZ few days ago, no health issues no side effects. All very weird how she got her app.

randomsabreuse · 06/03/2021 19:47

DH (40s, group 6) was done with AZ on Wednesday. He spotted our neighbour's car at the centre so assuming it's being done by GP practice or postcode within group 6 rather than age. DH had AZ, sore arm and feeling a bit crap have been the main side effects - he wasn't off work though... He's got a colleague in Stirlingshire with similar type of vulnerability, she was done about 3 weeks ago.

For a randomly generated appointment it could not have been more convenient - late afternoon, very near to his place of work and on a day when I needed to collect him anyway (thanks to car malfunctions earlier in the week). I'm guessing our local centre is being used for people less able to travel.

Definitely
WaxOnFeckOff · 06/03/2021 20:11

I think vaccine roll out is broadly similar across all 4 nations but NI are a little behind. Wales has many more second doses done than anyone else.

I think the variations across England account for the differences in the ages of people being done. Most areas are a few points ahead of average but London is well below at only 24.9 first dose. I'd imagine that will be due to a younger population.

Scottishskifun · 06/03/2021 20:17

@WaxOnFeckOff they are struggling in London due to multicultural mix and lots of misinformation so minority groups and communities refusing it. It's a big problem which they are trying hard to rectify with advertising but also community leaders etc.

That's a shame. to be honest I have very little contact with medical services as I'm pretty healthy and I am now a little wary about injecting stuff into my body, but I'm still going when i get my appointment. I only discovered I was allergic to penicillin at the end of last year as I've not had any antibiotics since primary school so it's shaken me a little (it wasn't an anaphylactic reaction but a massive itchy rash etc which took weeks to go and my knees and thighs are still a weird bluey/purply colour - a bit bizarre. this time 6 months ago I wouldn't have any slight hesitation.

So, it's not really about what i think of the injection, it's more about me being ever so slightly unsure about my own body reactions now.

Yup!

Saw the papers today about an outbreak at holyrood this morning! Think they need to examine their own ventilation system and policies in place!

Icannever · 07/03/2021 09:19

Does anyone else think they’ve caught coronavirus every time they feel ill these days? Or is it just me?
I’ve had none of the symptoms you test for but I’ve had an awful headache and stomach issues which I initially thought were just linked to my period but they’ve not gone away after a few days.

Lockdownbear · 07/03/2021 09:20

It had to happen sooner or later. Does that mean NS needs to get of her soapbox and self isolate?

I don't know if it was a spoof / photoshopped image or not but I was shown a photo of NS, and about a dozen other people all crammed in around a telly at Holyrood watching AS giving statement.

Lockdownbear · 07/03/2021 09:28

Icannever Headache and stomach/ diorreaha (spelling sorry) the runs. Can be coronavirus, I'd book a test just to check.
I'd tick the box that says you have a cough and get it checked.

Before Christmas those were the main symptoms that my neighbours had and I'd been told before that they were symptoms to look out for.

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/03/2021 09:29

I saw that but my take was that it was a genuine gathering at some point, probably a pre covid thing and the image on the telly was photoshopped.

Lockdownbear · 07/03/2021 09:33

We did wonder and said surely they wouldn't be that stupid. It would have been interesting to compare the clothes, if find another photo of them on the day the picture was supposed to have been taken.

Cismyfatarse · 07/03/2021 09:39

It is photoshopped. I think the original was from the Euro referendum and it had someone else on the TV.

Lidlfix · 07/03/2021 09:41

Going by some of my wider acquaintances on social media and the pics they are sharing it's not photo shopped. Right down to the flares they had packed. And they are preparing for today.

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/03/2021 09:46

I think we are at cross purposes lidl. The photo we were talking about was of meant to be nicola and the crew sitting in bute house watching Alec give his evidence.

Scottishskifun · 07/03/2021 09:47

@Icannever it's worth booking a test the zoe app has found an additional 7 other symptoms including headaches, sore throat and upset stomach. It was the people behind the zoe app which got loss of smell added as they provide data to the govt weekly.
