@GirlLovesWorld

Well obviously there are regional variations, there are articles in the paper today about regions of England that haven't even vaccinated all of their elderly yet.

Neither my parents or in laws were invited by letter, they just had a call from their GP saying 'can you make it tomorrow'. Same as my brother actually.

Yes, I think phone calls are always used here as it's quickest. I really don't get the whole ' We need to be able to book online' argument.

You get phoned, you go . If you really can't go at the date and time given, you let them know and re- arrange.

OldRailer · 06/03/2021 17:16

I don't care what method they use. I thought it was phone from gp and letter ( plus website alternative in England ) for hubs.

hilbil21 · 06/03/2021 17:16

Yeah it was AZ x

OldRailer · 06/03/2021 17:16

The online booking will be efficient though at saving so much rebooking.

Scottishskifun · 06/03/2021 17:22

I think if you let people pick a time which works for them then it reduces rebooking time. Also reduces no shows as people have booked it themselves rather then getting a letter. Unless people actively call up to cancel or refuse then appointments are wasted which could be given to someone else.

Cismyfatarse · 06/03/2021 17:23

I am not expecting to be at the top of the pile. I am 52. But DH is 59 and an unpaid carer for his mother. So he should have at least had it booked.

Here's hoping that his job as a vaccinator, which has taken weeks since it was first offered to turn into a shift, will give him a dose.

It is too slow. Much, much too slow.

And why do we have to wait for an assigned appointment? Are we not to be trusted to book an appointment at a time we can actually go.

GirlLovesWorld · 06/03/2021 17:25

I don't know which one is was actually!

speedtalker · 06/03/2021 17:26

Other people getting vaccinated helps you too.
So try not to get stressed about when your are getting done. As long as people are getting the jab, the safer we all are 🤞

kurtrussellsbeard · 06/03/2021 17:26

Very true @speedtalker!

GirlLovesWorld · 06/03/2021 17:27

How is it much much too slow when we're second out of the four nations? Do you mean it's too slow in the UK overall?

fandabbydoozy · 06/03/2021 17:27

do we get a letter telling us our appointment date and time or telling us to go online and book one?

kurtrussellsbeard · 06/03/2021 17:27

I've heard the side effects are a wee bit rougher with AZ but totally anecdotal.

It's a bit too early to say. There also seems to be if you have had covid then people are reporting side effects.

A lot more vulnerable people were given Pfizer so if shielding etc less likely to have been exposed.

Zoe study is taking data in from its app users so should have more information in the next few months.

I've read that quite a lot over the past day. Everyone round here now seems to be getting the AZ one and most people have had some sort of side effect. Still delighted to have had it.
TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 06/03/2021 17:49

Got my jab yesterday... somewhat bemused as to why I got it so soon (48, no health conditions) unless there's a "fat list" somewhere and we fatties are being called in case of complications....I heard some anecdata that you're more likely to react to vaccine if you've had Covid (I had it back in November but v mildly despite the fatness).

I got Pfizer and have a sore arm, slight headache and am v tired today but nothing unmanageable... colleague got hers last week ( younger and v slim and equally confused as to why she got an appointment so early), but had AZ and was wiped out... said it was like having the beginning of Covid all over again... my Mum had a similar reaction (although she hasn't had Covid as far as she knows ).

We both work in a school and initially thought that might be why we wee invited, but no other colleagues have had there's and some are older and have health issues that I'd have thought gave them priority 🤔

TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 06/03/2021 17:50

I'd also heard AZ was worse for side effects (again, anecdata)
