Then when you've stick to rules you're informed that you didn't have to. Hmm

I'm in this position with elderly relatives. No they don't need us for everyday care and support but what was acceptable for weeks during a new disease pandemic seems far less so now a year on.

Dinnafashyersel · 04/03/2021 11:17

what was acceptable for weeks during a new disease pandemic seems far less so now a year on.

This is so true across the Board. What started out as Guidance from Gov to strive together to keep us all safe has slowly morphed into Dictatorial Edict into every aspect of private life and official endorsement of vigilante enforcement.

ProvisionallyAnxious · 04/03/2021 11:36

I was saying to my husband last night that it's kind of unbelievable that we are in a situation where (with a few weeks' exception) we have not legally been allowed to host people in our own home for almost a year. It is an incredible sacrifice of personal liberty which was indeed probably justified during the peak of the pandemic. That we have a government saying this could continue into -- what, June, July, later? depending on the tier we fall into just blows my mind.

Scottishskifun · 04/03/2021 11:41

@ProvisionallyAnxious

I have friends whose babies were born in lockdown (and are now almost 1 so soon outside the exemption!) and they are furious NS presented it as clarifying what was always allowed. They feel taken for fools.
Yes definitely agree! My friends were trying to do the right thing only to be told oh we always said that.... Ummmm no not really!

I have had some friends suffer from PND because of lack of support and them not wanting to break the rules. Much of which and potential extent level could have been avoided if they had been clear in the first place.

New positive lab tests rose by 500 which is 2.5% of all tests. There are 726 positive patients in hospital (down 24) with 69 of those in ICU (down one)

Thanks @dancemom 2.5% that's good. Is 500 slightly up from yesterday? I can't remember. Does it say how many deaths?

I really appreciate your posts - sorry to ask questions! Feel free to ignore Smile

Lockdownbear · 04/03/2021 13:01

I think the new parent thing is horrendous. How they possibly could forget to publicise that?
I actually don't believe they forgot. I think they just didn't think about it and are trying to cover up their mess.

Another group who'll be completely off the radar is children moving to foster / adoptive families.
Bringing a walkin, talkin child into a family is a weird enough experience, without them only being able to talk with their new Grandparents and Aunties in a park or via the phone.Confused.

Scottishskifun · 04/03/2021 13:02

24 registered deaths

It’s insane, isn’t it?

I was listening to a piece on Radio 4 just there about a man whose daughter has cerebral palsy and they’ve barely been out of the house in a year, all of her speech and physical therapy put on hold and she’s really regressed. Another contributor to the programme was saying nobody is thinking about how kids with additional needs will return to school properly because a lot of the restrictions will continue to make it very difficult for them, and there are a great number for whom physical distancing isn’t really possible. This person was saying these kids’ education and therapy is likely to be affected for ages because vaccination for children isn’t on the agenda yet.

Honestly, it’s too much now. We’re vaccinating millions of people and society needs to start functioning again. The people who’ve given up treatment, therapy, education to ‘protect the NHS,’ well, they need to have their needs met now.

And another suicide on the railway near me. Sad Says between Perth and Stirling but affects services to Dunblane from Edinburgh so will be between Stirling and Dunblane.

It was 543 yesterday and 2.6%

20-something deaths, can't remember exactly. Think that might be the lowest number for a wee while (on a weekday).

kurtrussellsbeard · 04/03/2021 13:08

@GirlLovesWorld thank you.

The numbers are so encouraging.

dancemom · 04/03/2021 13:10

Twenty-four further deaths - of people who tested positive in the last 28 days - have been registered.

523 yesterday so just down from that

There was a suicide attempt last night at Aberdeen Harbour and a friend prevented one on the cliffs by us last week.

I think when the yearly data comes out it's going to be mortifying and it won't capture those who were stopped so even that won't be a true reflection.

dancemom · 04/03/2021 13:11

The stories I hear at my work are just heartrending, even for a cynical old woman like me.

The way we are treating people just beggars belief.

GirlLovesWorld · 04/03/2021 13:21

I agree @Scottishskifun I know/know of six people since last June - and before that I'd never known anyone to die by suicide. If my experience is in any way typical the number of deaths is going to be horrifying.

Plus I live near a bridge and you wouldn't believe how many nights we sit listening to helicopters searching for people.

kurtrussellsbeard · 04/03/2021 13:25

It's awful. The mental health provision has always been absolutely appalling and to say this situation has exacerbated it is the understatement of the century.

Scottishskifun · 04/03/2021 13:39

@kurtrussellsbeard

Yep and mental health provision in the Scottish budget for 2021-2022 has only increased by 22 million which sounds a lot but when you compare to the 32 million increase for mental health between 2019 and 2020 to me it's absolutely appalling!

The pandemic has had severe consequences on mental health yet the real uplift provision in money is reduced!

Chapter 5 of the budget there is a table if anyone is interested I find it shocking

GirlLovesWorld · 04/03/2021 14:11

Is anyone else having bother with the dashboard? It's just showing as a blank page for me, on phone and laptop.

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/03/2021 14:13

Anyone else have problems getting the daily dashboard up on the Public Tableau site?

Them publishing at 2 is when I can see how many cases there are locally, otherwise it's Tabby at 3 if he can get the data plus there are things I prefer about each site.
