As the conversation is interesting and the thread is nearly full. Does it matter if Sturgeon is guilty - do you know or care? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/scotsnet/4153007-Does-it-matter-if-Sturgeon-is-guilty-do-you-know-or-care

@Amortentia 👏🏻 absolutely. Sadly this is Scotnset. The comments are actually quite tame on this thread compared to normal.

I've only dipped in and out as working but I think she's presented herself well. Jackie Baillie on the other hand would fit right in here!

LexMitior · 03/03/2021 12:04

The whole matter is an embarrassment. Of course the Scottish Justice Secretary should not be providing a live commentary on these proceedings.

This is a circus

kurtrussellsbeard · 03/03/2021 12:05

@daisyfraser yes men are it's just a shame that the word itself is heavily gendered. It think that's the point the pp was making.

Amortentia · 03/03/2021 12:05

@daisyfraser

Amortentia You're a fan of Sturgeon. MRDA... If you're not happy here you might be more at home on the National. No-one's making you read this

Still awaiting why you feel referring to Marr's ego is good use of the committee's limited time.

Many of the criticisms raised in this thread are not grounded in fact. there are issues around the functions and processes of Scottish institutions and those that work within them being raised here.

You're the one trying to defend your bias and misogynistic language by accusing me of slavishly trying to defend Nicola Sturgeon.

StarryEyeSurprise · 03/03/2021 12:05

@Amortentia The Daily Mail has nothing on threads such as these.

sessell · 03/03/2021 12:06
@sessell that is what I am thinking and I don’t get it why she would say they are both liars Aberdein and a QC! Who is she protecting and why? Can anyone explain this please?
The SG has been fast and lose with complainers privacy throughout. By redacting then having to un-redact parts of evidence to the inquiry, they made the name of the official easy to find. (there are legal issues re naming them here.) But question to others here - is protecting that individual the only reason for NS being prepared to damage herself so badly on this point?

LexMitior · 03/03/2021 12:06

Back to the Committee eh? Save the linguistics for another day?

Amortentia · 03/03/2021 12:07

@daisyfraser

Amortentia You're being disingenuous here. Just trying to close down a discussion. Men are perfectly capable of being bitchy.

'bitchy
/ˈbɪtʃi/
adjectiveINFORMAL
malicious or spitefully critical.'

I'm baffled, why do you think I have the power to shut down anyone because I pointed out your use of misogynistic language?
IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 03/03/2021 12:08

I can't possibly think of anyone worth damaging herself this way. Her husband maybe? I do believe she was gutted this came out.

StarryEyeSurprise · 03/03/2021 12:09

Yes - Jackie Billie couldn't put forward her new conspiracy theory without laughing.

daisyfraser · 03/03/2021 12:09

Was not aware this is a thread on the gendering of insults. It's a thread about Sturgeon's testimony
Are we about to be hijacked by people trying to police, deflect and shut down our discussion?

If you disagree with the tone of the thread you would be better off being somewhere you feel less 'offended' rather than trying to point out where people here are going wrong.

kurtrussellsbeard · 03/03/2021 12:10

@LexMitior

Back to the Committee eh? Save the linguistics for another day?
Yes but this is important as well. Language like this sticks out like a sore thumb . It's particularly apparent in this thread where there are so many very knowledgable and insightful posters who incidentally tend not to need to resort to name calling.
daisyfraser · 03/03/2021 12:10

Arrrgh!! I fell into the trap!!
Back to business

kurtrussellsbeard · 03/03/2021 12:11

I'm fine here @daisyfraser. Like I said there are some really knowledgeable posters on here who have really helped me understand things better.

mrsrhodgilbert · 03/03/2021 12:11

Watching this from England and not very knowledgeable about the background I’m afraid. A senior official has been mentioned many times, who’s identity is being protected, is his/her identity actually known by everyone there?

WouldBeGood · 03/03/2021 12:11

@LexMitior

Back to the Committee eh? Save the linguistics for another day?
Yes, please. It’s so interesting and I’ve been out so catching up
littlbrowndog · 03/03/2021 12:11

Oh the WhatsApp messages now

daisyfraser · 03/03/2021 12:13

Ooooohh she's losing it. Cannot answer the text message question

StatisticallyChallenged · 03/03/2021 12:13

I'm a bit behind but she has just tried to deflect the breach of confidentiality on to Alex Salmond. They were just talking about GDPR, total deflection.

TheShadowyFeminist · 03/03/2021 12:13

Dodging the answer.

Salmond describes the messages as shocking. She's avoiding mentioning the content.

Amortentia · 03/03/2021 12:13

@daisyfraser

Arrrgh!! I fell into the trap!! Back to business
What trap? You were questioned about the tone of your posts. Now it's a conspiracy against you?

I actually know quite a bit about this committee process and thought I'd be able to engage with others about it. But you don't seem keen on anything other than your own biased views. 👋

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 03/03/2021 12:14

Why is she stopping her from answering.

littlbrowndog · 03/03/2021 12:14

Stopped answering

daisyfraser · 03/03/2021 12:14

'charged with a number of serious sexual offences - caused ME pain'
What has that to do with the messages?

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 03/03/2021 12:15

I actually think she made a fair point about the communications after he was charged. Of course people would be talking about it. It is a big deal
