As the conversation is interesting and the thread is nearly full. Does it matter if Sturgeon is guilty - do you know or care? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/scotsnet/4153007-Does-it-matter-if-Sturgeon-is-guilty-do-you-know-or-care

And just to add the vile hounding of poor Charles Kennedy to literally his death by the SNPs Blackford and the cybernats

article

I suppose, thinking about it. We might have only just seen the documents, but Sturgeon will have known what is in them for a very long time and will have been making preparations for what she was going say/how she would approach any questions for years.

WaxOnFeckOff · 02/03/2021 23:40

@Bejazzled, just when you thought that you couldn't dislike that bawbag Blackford anymore...Poor Charles Kennedy. I was unaware of the specifics at the time.

Bejazzled · 02/03/2021 23:55

@WaxOnFeckOff

Hopefully everyone can now see that the emperor is naked.
And the empress...

Me neither, such a shame

The scales are falling from some people's eyes.

It was always toxic and ugly, some people just didn't want to see it.

I can't read more than the first paragraph but I'm not sure if I want to

Back in 2014, the Yes movement stood for forward-thinking optimism. Of course, there was still a nasty underbelly, mostly online – but then all political movements suffer from hate-mongers. The good outweighed the bad. Clearly, there was also ugliness within unionism too, and that remains.

Really? Hmm

I remember that at the time. There was absolutely no need for a campaign like that — it was cruel. Why not just campaign based on why you'd be good?!

He'd had the seat for over thirty years, and died just a few weeks after losing it.

A truly decent man with a horrible illness

Is there anyone in holyrood of either sex or any political persuasion that we could say was truly decent nowadays?

There must be surely?

WaxOnFeckOff · 03/03/2021 01:02

Handy for the morning.
😂😂 Perfect. I'm sure you could just string that whole lot into various sentences and mix and repeat and you'll have the entire speech.
Tamingofthehamster · 03/03/2021 06:41

I’ve just read that Wings link. It’s shocking to think these people could be running the country with such poor judgement and ineptitude. They’re like a bunch of sixth formers on a social committee.

Nipoleonthenoncommital · 03/03/2021 07:04

Handy for the morning.
If she mentions Brexit or the Tories she's fecked. The committee is no place for whataboutery and if she goes down that route, she's clearly trying to hide something.
Dinnafashyersel · 03/03/2021 07:11

Apart from Jim Sillars does anyone know if anyone else high profile within the SNP is saying don't vote SNP?

Dinnafashyersel · 03/03/2021 07:23

On tactical voting. Anas is standing against Nicola in her constituency.

Bejazzled · 03/03/2021 07:44

I am really shocked by that. Poor Charles Kennedy he didn’t deserve that treatment.
Bytheloch · 03/03/2021 08:04

Sligtly worrying when you take a Twitter snapshot, there’s people Scottish actors in particular leaping to her defence. Folk interpreting this as just the tories calling for her resignation, not understanding the bigger picture. Lots of gushing about NS handling of pandemic Hmm as though that relates to the inquiry etc.

WouldBeGood · 03/03/2021 08:07

It’s actually even worse that she knew about all this and that it could come tumbling down at any time whilst leader through the pandemic.

And then to criticise the Tories for their motion “in a pandemic”.

None of this demonstrates great leadership nor any concern for her country.

WouldBeGood · 03/03/2021 08:09

I saw a lot of the disillusioned Nationalists on Twitter pretty disgusted with Humza.

I feel very naive. I had no idea and this makes me feel quite sick.

Poor, poor man.

Happinessisawarmcervix · 03/03/2021 08:17

The Kennedy documentary on BBC Alba was really interesting in that Charles’s campaign manager said he’d never seen the like of the abuse handed out in the 2015 election, and (as I understood his remarks ) attributed a lot of it to the referendum - the idea that if you didn’t back independence you were a traitor to Scotland.

We seem to have lost the ability to disagree with respect.

And there’s something about losing our sense of history - the abuse handed out to Charles didn’t respect the principled position he took opposing the Iraq war, for example. And the abuse SNP people are heaping on Salmond totally overlooks the role he played in making the SNP the party it is today - the post-2014 members think Oor Nicola did it all on her own.

Politics needs young people, but they need to understand the contributions of those who fought the fight in earlier years.

WouldBeGood · 03/03/2021 08:31

And Swinney concedes they have not lodged everything: nothing for the November
