Looks like railing is still needed.

Here is the judgment feee zone to do it.

I don't think your home tests feed into the figures sadly @Lidlfix but knowing you are negative already and going for a "real" test is genius. I'm the same, I never leave the house and DH who does go out to work, tests like you. We could all go for an asymptomatic test and boost the negative figures to get us out of this.

OldRailer · 03/03/2021 20:16

The article from the lung specialist is so dismal.

OldRailer · 03/03/2021 20:16

Quoting the lung specialist that should be.

Lockdownbear · 03/03/2021 20:27

I don't think people will stand for it either.
There has been comments that the UK doesn't demonstrate or have riots in winter and i think there could be serious issues if the country isn't living come the better weather.

Chasingamy · 03/03/2021 21:23

That article is so depressing. If they take that stance once the majority have been vaccinated I think I will seriously consider moving to England.

Groovee · 03/03/2021 21:29

@WouldBeGood

Will it be difficult for you *@Groovee* financially and childcare and stuff as well as the obvious worry? I hope not. Obviously it can’t be helped and he needs to recover properly but it can’t be easy. I think you have your jag tomorrow? One less worry soon.
So far he's on full pay and I can pick up more hours. The kids are 21 and 18. Both have sneakily paid for the food shop. I suspect my FiL has given them money to ensure we are ok. We do have income protection if we need it.

It's his love of daytime telly! I just cannot handle it 😂😂 also he's here ALL the time and I get no space. I love and I get asked why I am moving. I find working gives me respite.

On another note, vaccine day tomorrow. Having to drive myself now.

WouldBeGood · 03/03/2021 21:43

Glad that’s not a worry then as well as Illness.

Yes, I can see that would be so claustrophobic. I’m glad I don’t live with DP at this time! Your dcs sound great. And FIL.. DP took himself for the jag and was absolutely fine. And it would be fair to say he’s not brave about these things 😂

Groovee glad you don't have money worries or the issues of young children too worry about.

The here ALL the time thing I totally get. I found myself chilling outside the shops last week. Just 10mins peaceful bliss in my wee car. Nobody rabbitin, no bickering, no hearing half a phone call, just blissful music!

DeepfriedPizza · 04/03/2021 09:10

They’ve set up an Asymptomatic Testing Centre near me for people to drive to and be tested if they have no symptoms 🤷🏻‍♀️

There's one near me too. I am about 50 meters away from the geographical cut off point. I walk by it with the dog most days. There's never anyone there. It's in a really low income area and I've heard that people don't want to get tested without symptoms as they'd have to stay at home and lose wages.

rookiemere · 04/03/2021 09:14

You'd have to be particularly civic minded or bored to go for asymptomatic testing.

Groovee · 04/03/2021 10:03

Delivered clean clothes to Mr G. Now on Twitter doing the World Book Day tweets.

I need to get better at the housework as the place is a mess.

Groovee · 04/03/2021 10:04

See I'd quite happily let someone else do the tests for me for work. If there was a wee place set up I'd go.
Lidlfix · 04/03/2021 10:19

Civic minded is exactly how people in the villages near me who had mobile screening units set up during spikes previously viewed asymptomatic testing. And turned up in droves. Residents were keen to ensure they weren't asymptomatic and potentially spreading unwittingly, these are villages with significant deprivation too. Both times the Health Board concluded nothing to note.

Another moment when I realised Mumsnet/Scotsnet does not always mirror reality.

OldRailer · 04/03/2021 10:26

I know where my brother lived plenty turned out. It depends on how at risk you feel and how much you fear passing it on. I know some of his local bus drivers went for example.

OldRailer · 04/03/2021 10:28

I would tend not to right now as we are not mixing in any meaningful way. But if it was rife round our area I might feel my 15 minutes in the coop warranted it. When my teenager goes back to school I would participate.

Lidlfix · 04/03/2021 10:34

According to the Zoe app Stirling has increased by 904 cases in a week. I generally just use the app to report but that was a bit of a shocker. If PHS offer community screening (despite my lack of doing anything other than walks) I will go. Hone my swabbing technique for return to the classroom.

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/03/2021 10:40

Stirling sitting at 19th in the whole UK with Falkirk at 14 yesterday.

Fallin, Plean, Cowie, town Centre, hillpark and Cornton topping the Stirling table.

WaxOnFeckOff · 04/03/2021 10:42

Stirling hasn't been out of the Red since Christmas. Looks like we'll be locked up forever.

Sootess · 04/03/2021 10:57

I noticed those high numbers! What's going on in Stirling and Falkirk???
Big outbreak in workplace/prison? Anyone know?

Lidlfix · 04/03/2021 10:58

Thanks for giving me a walks to avoid in Stirling map WaxGrinMobile screening back in some of the villages this week . Just clinging to hope that by the time the tiers are brought in that the rates have come down.

A low point of my career was trying to console an awesome pupil at 2 metres both of us wearing masks as he'd just been identified as a close contact (along with scores of pupils) and sent home to isolate . My seniors are desperate to be in class as assessments loom, my juniors are desperate to be in class to see each other. Returning to then have to isolate will be awful . But there have been cases in most Stirling hubs so it feels horribly inevitable.

This is not me saying schools shouldn't be back just looking at the reality of life in a hot spot.

OldRailer · 04/03/2021 10:59

Tbh east and central areas have had low rates of community transmission. What community immunity there is from infections must be very much concentrated round the urban West.

WouldBeGood · 04/03/2021 10:59

I don’t really think there’s significant asymptomatic transmission so not doing it.

Each to their own.

Transmission doesn’t matter anyway if vulnerable vaccinated.

OldRailer · 04/03/2021 11:01

That sounds so difficult Lidlfix.

OldRailer · 04/03/2021 11:03

It might catch people before they get ill enough to notice. It's worth a punt in an area with high transmissions.

Dinnafashyersel · 04/03/2021 11:05

I do no housework Groovee - can't possibly disturb the zoom calls dontcha know. Good job I have a bench in the communal front garden for 5 minute's peace or I would be demented by now. Very seldom actually manage to sit there for 5 whole minutes without ending up chatting with the neighbours (it all counts as essential building maintenance if the Covid police ask)

DD3 worked out my cunning plan today. She loves words but I get her to do all the totalling when we play scrabble and today she had to calculate average scores. Turns out we were doing Sums.
