Looks like railing is still needed.

Here is the judgment feee zone to do it.

I think it was to update according to how the figures are going?

It’s looking not unlikely she might not be in post next Tuesday though

Who do you think will be ?

WouldBeGood · 02/03/2021 23:03

Who knows? I just think she surely will have to resign

I put this on another thread, but for comparison, this is what Henry McLeish resigned over:

Resignation
McLeish resigned as First Minister in November 2001, amid a scandal involving allegations he sub let part of his tax subsidised Westminster constituency office without it having been registered in the register of interests kept in the Parliamentary office. The press called the affair Officegate. Though McLeish could not have personally benefited financially from the oversight, he undertook to repay the £36,000 rental income, and resigned to allow the Scottish Labour Party a clean break to prepare for the 2003 Scottish Parliament election.[8] McLeish did not seek re-election.

WouldBeGood · 02/03/2021 23:11

I don’t know how she could stand up and pontificate on the importance of obeying the rules

OP posts:
Lockdownbear · 02/03/2021 23:44

I agree that she should go but she isn't going to resign without a serious shove and i just can't work out who'd replace her.
SNP seems to be ruled like no other party.
Now and then you'll hear about the Tory backbenchers voicing their complaints when there is disagreement with the government. That challenge isn't a bad thing.
I don't think i have ever heard the SNP back benchers challenge anything in Holyrood.

StatisticallyChallenged · 03/03/2021 00:09

For all their many faults the tories are mostly more tolerant of dissent. Exception to be found but just in general. The SNP at Holyrood especially seem totally under control

WaxOnFeckOff · 03/03/2021 00:11

Dissent when it matters is almost always a good thing.

Lockdownbear · 03/03/2021 00:21

Yes that's what I mean they aren't frightened of standing up and being counted.

Do labour tolerate dissent from the backbenchers?

The total power at Holyrood is not good.

Nipoleonthenoncommital · 03/03/2021 06:53

Whilst I think she absolutely should resign, I can't see it happening. I really hope I'm wrong.

Dinnafashyersel · 03/03/2021 07:41

Humza all over the news last night. The strategy is to front it out and let the electorate exonerate her whatever the verdict of the Committee or Parliament.

Not sure they've thought about the credibility gap going forward even if that works.

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 03/03/2021 07:46

I suppose logically, if she drops loads of votes in the election she'll resign and that'll be a good time to elect a new leader as the virus numbers will hopefully be quite a bit lower. If the election happens.

Dinnafashyersel · 03/03/2021 07:50

On the railing front. Texas following Florida in opening up.

Lockdownbear · 03/03/2021 08:00

How are Texus and Florida managing the covid numbers?
I thought only Israel where ahead of the Uk in the vaccine race?

jabbathebutt · 03/03/2021 08:00

what time does it start today?

Dinnafashyersel · 03/03/2021 08:02

Oh and Mississippi also. They're Governor puts it:
"starting tomorrow, we are lifting all of our county mask mandates and businesses will be able to operate at full capacity without any state-imposed rules. Our hospitalizations and case numbers have plummeted, and the vaccine is being rapidly distributed. It is time!"

I suspect this narrative will become increasingly difficult to resist as long as the trend in data continues downwards.

WouldBeGood · 03/03/2021 08:03

Florida hasn’t had lockdown and has similar deaths to California which has had a very strict one.

Dinnafashyersel · 03/03/2021 08:03

(bit of niche posting as I have friends in both States)

WouldBeGood · 03/03/2021 08:03

Oh, I saw that @Dinnafashyersel - so jealous

Our friends live in North Carolina and spend weekends in South Carolina. They basically said it's normal there. You just wear a mask to go up and order your drinks.

Lockdownbear · 03/03/2021 08:09

@WouldBeGood

Florida hasn’t had lockdown and has similar deaths to California which has had a very strict one.
That's a real weird one. And ties to the guy who says lockdown don't work.

I really do think people will be analysing data and interventions from Covid for years.
The starting point, age, health, obesity, the health care system, the density of population, the interventions, WFH, lockdowns, and various restrictions, number of people able to meet etc.

Dinnafashyersel · 03/03/2021 09:10

Mark Woolhouse pushing back against the Dentist.

"If the phrase 'data-driven not date-driven' has any meaning, then it must allow for the schedule for relaxing restrictions to be brought forward if the data are better than expected and not just putting the schedule back if the data are worse than expected."

(for anyone not following the gossip. He is the actual Prof of Epidemiology at Edinburgh Uni as opposed to Zero Devi and Jason the Dentist and Jason rubbished his analysis at last Friday's press briefing)

WouldBeGood · 03/03/2021 09:11

Mark Woolhouse is a voice of reason, and an actual expert. I have no idea why they seem to be in thrall to Zero Devi and the Dentist 🤷🏻‍♀️

OP posts:
Lockdownbear · 03/03/2021 09:45

Probably because they toe the party line. Rather than

Lockdownbear · 03/03/2021 09:47

Sorry hit post too soon.

Rather than speak out like Woolhouse.

BTW Has anyone came across the name Woolhouse before?

Any updates from Groovee? I really hope MrG is ok, 🤞
