Guilt free railing

The place to vent, moan, rail, cheer: whatever you’re feeling about Covid, and the rules, and life and the universe.

I’ve started this as I’m feeling scared and fed up with increasing restrictions despite vaccines. I feel that what should be a more positive time is instead bringing more and more doom.

I want the simple pleasures of life back, as well as all the big stuff.

I hate the feeling that others think you oughtn't to be stopping to chat if you pass people you know. It's like reversion to teenagedom with all the self doubt 😂.

LetItGoGo · 10/02/2021 18:33

Do you know I thought I might go postal. My thinking being I'm not catching covid for that.

WouldBeGood · 10/02/2021 18:35

I’ll need to pop in to spoil my ballot 😃

I like to vote in person, it feels like it should count more since I've made the effort to go. We usually go together, it might be the only outing as a family we get this year!

Not that I have any idea who I am voting for, just whoever is likely to pose most challenge to the SNP

titsbumfannythelot · 10/02/2021 18:43

Me too. Our kids get the day off school too 🙄

WouldBeGood · 10/02/2021 18:46

Double points for in person voting?

OP posts:
WouldBeGood · 10/02/2021 18:46

Could run a scrabble style system

WaxOnFeckOff · 10/02/2021 18:51

Double points, yes, but those doing postal because of disability or infirmities or caring responsibility get it too.

Chasingamy · 10/02/2021 18:52

So fed up of the stay within your local authority rule. We live right on the very edge of ours, and are rural. I have a toddler, there are playgrounds, good walks etc all about a 15 min drive away but can’t go to them but could legally go 2hrs to the other end of the LA. Walk round our village every day and hardly see another soul let alone another child for toddler to interact with.

Dinnafashyersel · 10/02/2021 18:53

Found you all.

I want the house to myself for an hour. I would even settle for being able to make as much mess and noise as I like for an hour of my choosing without fear of interruption. Failing that I want to be able to travel far enough for a walk without seeing anyone I know.

I haven't seen my DD1 since October so that would be nice too.

GoldenOmber · 10/02/2021 18:53

I am so SO fed up. Fed up of the park. Fed up of the weather. Fed up of the only chance to get the children out of the house being trudging to the fucking park in the cold again.

My DC are primary and nursery age and we’re both trying to WFH alongside them and it’s so endlessly exhausting and miserable. I feel like I never get any time for anything, I’m constantly running around in circles going “sorry sorry sorry” to children or work depending on which one I’m letting down to look after the other.

WouldBeGood · 10/02/2021 18:54

Yes @WaxOnFeckOff double points for them too that’s fair

WouldBeGood · 10/02/2021 18:57

@Chasingamy in all honesty I’d just go. It’s more in the spirit of the law than driving to the other side of your region.

Dinnafashyersel · 10/02/2021 18:58

Chasing snap. Cheap thrill last week when I realised the direct car route to my "for a change" supermarket straddles the border. I nearly went the long route within the LA just to be twisted.

WaxOnFeckOff · 10/02/2021 19:01

Remember folks, a few deep breaths will make everything fine... 😉

Callisto1 · 10/02/2021 19:01

Think we'll register for postal. I don't fancy taking a child along and going in shifts is just a pain. We already do everything in shifts. It's been ages since we've done a family walk.

I think I'll have to hit the gin tonight. Maybe that'll snap me out of my misery...Gin

GoldenOmber · 10/02/2021 19:01

I thought we could cross LA borders now? As long as it wasn’t too far into the next one and it was for exercise or something.

titsbumfannythelot · 10/02/2021 19:01

I think wine is more reliable.

Chasingamy · 10/02/2021 19:02

@WouldBeGood yes driving to the other side of the region would not be in the spirit of it at all! Just wish it was more like a x miles from your home (and somewhere that is reasonable for people living rurally as 5 miles gets us nowhere). It’s making me want to move to the city just to have some variety. Never thought it would matter as to how close to the boundary we lived. I’m in general a rule follower so don’t like feeling anxious just trying to visit a park. This is all tiny problems in comparison but just needed a moan so thanks for the thread Grin

Chasingamy · 10/02/2021 19:03

@Dinnafashyersel amazing what constitutes a good trip out now ha

WouldBeGood · 10/02/2021 19:08

That’s right @GoldenOmber

DH trying to work out if he had an opticians appointment at Costco whether he could do a shop while he was there, not entirely in the spirit but some nice steaks would do our mental health no end of good and he needs new glasses.

WouldBeGood · 10/02/2021 19:09

@WaxOnFeckOff yes.. just please don’t send recipes

OP posts:
WaxOnFeckOff · 10/02/2021 19:10

And obviously there are opticians available within our council boundary.

titsbumfannythelot · 10/02/2021 19:11

Just do the Costco shop at the same time, lots of others will be. Maybe get the new glasses first though for optimal steak purchasing.
