Does it matter if Sturgeon is guilty - do you know or care?

Evidence of a conspiracy to frame Alex Salmond has been building. There are compelling reports in the Times, Herald , Sky News and across the internet. But there is less reporting in Scotland and a lot of people seem to not know or care. I'm Scottish but I don't live there. I've been hooked by this as a story of power and corruption. I'm on the fence re independence, just don't know enough so don't have an axe in that debate. I've never been an SNP member. But I do care about justice and that no-one should be above the law, especially politicians when they are seeking to imprison their potential rivals.

After reading this affadavit from Craig Murray which brings it all together and is incendiary I'm pretty convinced there has been a conspiracy and that Sturgeon and her collaborators should face justice. Although the justice department (Crown office) also seem to be mired in this. Here is the affadavit www.craigmurray.org.uk/archives/2021/01/my-sworn-evidence-on-the-sturgeon-affair/

I've shown this to a few people and have been shocked that a couple have said, yes it stinks but I like Sturgeon. I'd be interested in the views of Scotsnet. How much do you know about this? Do you care? Is it OK for our politicians to imprison their rivals, like Putin and co do, if you like their other objectives. Has Scotland become a corrupt nation? Is that OK?

There isn't any advantage. None.

I've never in my 61 years on the planet and the 45 odd years I've been aware of separatism been convinced of any single advantage. And in those 45 years I've gone from fairly left wing to moderate Tory- separatism made no sense at any point.

Whatdoyoudowhendemocracyfails · 04/02/2021 20:57

Did the OP ask for views on independence? Or did you two just decide it was time to come and tell us all again in case we’d forgotten your views from the million other times you’ve shared them on irrelevant threads?

Whatdoyoudowhendemocracyfails · 04/02/2021 20:59

OP - which castle is better, Edinburgh or Inverness?
B & B - separatists are barking, Scotland is better off in the union.
Everyone else - Confused

Sarahandduck18 · 05/02/2021 00:06

Peter Murrell has to go.

Why doesn’t she see this?

WouldBeGood · 05/02/2021 07:57

I think because if he goes the carefully constructed and tightly controlled power base will tumble, like if you take the wrong piece of Jenga out.

The party is run by the two of them.

PinkyParrot · 05/02/2021 08:22

It is also a racing certainty that post Independence Scottish politics would fracture into a morass of ever more niche special interest groups with potentially even less social cohesion and forward vision than now. That is even after you sort out the severance deal with England, Wales and NI and the way forward in relation to the EU.

Yes, imv Scotland is not a united country. Ime oil companies in Aberdeen had little concern with dairy famers in the SW. The Highlands and Lowlands not really of interest to the central belt. Edinburgh and glasgow out competing each other. And there are many many incomers in the tourist areas, running hotels etc.
I thought snp would unite but it seems to be the opposite. Named person, freedom of speech, etc what the hell can't they see we need jobs and good incomes. Then they cna build a better infrastructure - omg the potholes - perhaps a more fairly divided parliaments between teh different parties might achieve that but they are certainly NOT at the moment. We in my area are being covered in windfarms built by the Chinese, Danish and put up by foreign labour. It's ridiculous.

WouldBeGood · 05/02/2021 08:55

Yes, @PinkyParrot. Scotland is very central belt centric. I lived in rural D&G for many years and the poverty and lack of infrastructure is just incredible now I live in the central belt. I remember I couldn’t believe all the brand new schools in tiny villages up here, for example!

I think it’s really difficult to understand as well how interlinked the border regions are with England too, if you’ve lived in central Scotland all your life. A day out shopping would be in Carlisle, half an hour away not Glasgow, two hours in a roundabout train. And the focus on stuff like sectarianism and football is just bizarre in a rural area.

WouldBeGood · 05/02/2021 08:56

@Whatdoyoudowhendemocracyfails I’ve gone off the point too.

But I like Stirling Castle 😃

Sarahandduck18 · 05/02/2021 11:38

If Scotland wasn’t being forced by Westminster to pay for HS2, crossrail, the London Underground, the Olympics we’d have spent that money improving the infrastructure in Scotland.

Not having good enough infrastructure is why we need independence not a reason to stay in a failing union.

WaxOnFeckOff · 05/02/2021 12:07

I could also argue that I don't use the bridge over the forth, the A9 and didn't go to the Commonwealth games. Or complain that the council is fixing potholes on a road I don't use.

Do you think Scotland gets no benefit from those things you've mentioned?

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/02/2021 12:09

Last time I checked the stats Scotland was being proportionately funded. We just have the Edinburgh trams , the M74 extension, borders railway, the Commonwealth Games...

We can't pay for better infrastructure if we're skint.

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/02/2021 12:09

xposted there @WaxOnFeckOff

There is something going on on Twitter today about the integrity of the committee reviewing the case. I think it was David Wallace Lockhart that tweeted but I can't really understand it to be honest.

titsbumfannythelot · 05/02/2021 12:20

If I have read this correctly, then it suggests that govt is intervening in publication of material and making role of committee difficult/ untenable

Well nobody could've seen that coming...it was announced a couple of days ago that Salmonds submission wouldn't be published so I guess that may have set things off.
titsbumfannythelot · 05/02/2021 12:48

Apparently Salmond can still refer to the evidence in question though. So basically it'll become written record anyway. I think.

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 05/02/2021 12:52

Thanks @titsbumfannythelot I did think that but was not sure. So basically the government are censoring stuff they don't want out there? Is that allowed?

Christ this stinks to the high heavens. Does anyone know what would happen if both Murrell and Sturgeon are forced to resign? Would it be a leadership contest. What if they refuse to resign what happens there?

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/02/2021 12:55

Not according to Wings titsbum - he apparently isn't allowed to refer to various things including his submission to Hamilton (which is in the spectator almost unredacted, link on Wings on 4th Feb).

WaxOnFeckOff · 05/02/2021 12:57

I'm pretty sure if all that's being said is true they should be facing criminal charges so maybe resigning is the least of their worries.

Saw that covid Maggie was in court briefly the other day for her charges.

titsbumfannythelot · 05/02/2021 13:01

Not sure if the Hamilton submission is what ACH is referring to in the tweet below. What a mess.

Does it matter if Sturgeon is guilty - do you know or care?
titsbumfannythelot · 05/02/2021 13:02

Not looked at wings though, a website I thought previously I'd avoid at all costs!

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/02/2021 13:33

Likewise - I'm trying to avoid putting too much faith in his analysis but he seems to link to decent info

titsbumfannythelot · 05/02/2021 15:18

The last paragraph could have been written about any issue and the snp leadership, imo.

WouldBeGood · 05/02/2021 15:29

@anon444877 that is interesting.

What a massive mess
