Does it matter if Sturgeon is guilty - do you know or care?

Evidence of a conspiracy to frame Alex Salmond has been building. There are compelling reports in the Times, Herald , Sky News and across the internet. But there is less reporting in Scotland and a lot of people seem to not know or care. I'm Scottish but I don't live there. I've been hooked by this as a story of power and corruption. I'm on the fence re independence, just don't know enough so don't have an axe in that debate. I've never been an SNP member. But I do care about justice and that no-one should be above the law, especially politicians when they are seeking to imprison their potential rivals.

After reading this affadavit from Craig Murray which brings it all together and is incendiary I'm pretty convinced there has been a conspiracy and that Sturgeon and her collaborators should face justice. Although the justice department (Crown office) also seem to be mired in this. Here is the affadavit www.craigmurray.org.uk/archives/2021/01/my-sworn-evidence-on-the-sturgeon-affair/

I've shown this to a few people and have been shocked that a couple have said, yes it stinks but I like Sturgeon. I'd be interested in the views of Scotsnet. How much do you know about this? Do you care? Is it OK for our politicians to imprison their rivals, like Putin and co do, if you like their other objectives. Has Scotland become a corrupt nation? Is that OK?

It is a huge mess

I do wonder if the ISP might be courting Cherry. They released a video on twitter at the time this was happening which opposed woman-erasing language.

Graffitiqueen · 05/02/2021 15:40

@Sarahandduck18, we get barnett consequentials for crossrail and hS2. Not sure about the London underground, but as it's a local infrastructure project similar to crossrail I think the same categorisation would apply and there would be consequentials.

WouldBeGood · 05/02/2021 16:26

@StatisticallyChallenged yes, I wondered that too.

They would then be the party for Indy supporting feminists.

I wonder if she will wait to see whether NS and PM survive this scandal?

StatisticallyChallenged · 05/02/2021 16:42

I suspect so - I don't know what the timeline is for declaring list candidates but if the party continues as it is it would make sense for her as I would bet on attempted deselection next time anyway

BBCONEANDTWO · 05/02/2021 20:46

There's a petition to try and stop the SNP for pushing for independence.

Quite a lot of signatures too, if it gets to a certain number it gets debated in parliament -not sure if that's a good idea.

More sleaze as NS refuses to comment, when asked, on the investigation into Derek Mackay after the messages to boys scandal a year ago. She wouldn’t say whether it was still ongoing it whether he was still suspended.

beepbeeprichie · 06/02/2021 12:02

@WouldBeGood he’s still been able to claim a disgraceful amount in expenses in the last year, regardless of his status!!

WouldBeGood · 06/02/2021 12:03

Yes. It’s just all so sleazy

Tamingofthehamster · 06/02/2021 18:19

If there was independence, how would we decide on the HoL equivalent? Because it’s terrifying to think we don’t need a second house, even if you don’t agree with who makes it up. You need government decisions to be scrutinised independently.

WouldBeGood · 06/02/2021 19:02

Yes @Tamingofthehamster I agree, there needs to be a two tier government.

I don’t know if there are any proposals for this in any plans for independence?

jabbathebutt · 06/02/2021 19:49

looks like AS doesn't want to give evidence anymore which could mean NS and PM getting away with it. Pair of fannies both of them.

littlbrowndog · 06/02/2021 20:41

Looks like a purge going on at moment

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/02/2021 20:54

I think AS doesn't want to give evidence because it appears he's going to be super limited in what he can say. I'm not sure I'd want to if all this is true - if I actually had evidence I'd be wanting a better avenue than it appears this panel is.

littlbrowndog · 06/02/2021 21:53

Neall hanvie been sacked

WouldBeGood · 06/02/2021 21:59

It is a purge

WaxOnFeckOff · 06/02/2021 22:00

It looks like, in the end, they'll probably all get away with it. Government is corrupt, the committee is corrupt (and therefore too much is being hidden) and CPS are corrupt and implicated. Sadly it seems that there is too much to bring down once they start to pull the blocks out the Jenga tower - I hope I'm wrong though. I think it's just going to be Salmond and his side making as much noise about it as they can and hopefully the mud sticks.

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/02/2021 22:52

The Hamilton probe may be less open to pressure, perhaps?

Twiggywinkle13 · 06/02/2021 23:11

If people truly cared about things of this nature Boris Johnson wouldn’t be the prime minister.

For transparency I vote SNP, I support independence. I don’t particularly care who leads the SNP as long as it brings Scotland independence as people will then vote for who they want after that. I am indifferent to Alex Salmond, I quite like Nicola Sturgeon.

I think that Craig Murray’s affidavit is making a lot of accusations that he cannot back up.

In saying that, one of the reasons this particular Tory government infuriates me is that they never have to face the music for their corruption, which frankly is on a bloody massive scale in comparison. If NS really did foil this whole thing, she should suffer the consequences. I don’t think however that she did. I think that AS doesn’t like that he was finally found out. It is notoriously difficult to convict in any case of the nature of his, even more so when it’s someone who had such great power.

littlbrowndog · 06/02/2021 23:39

Tiggywinkle

What’s that then weesht till we get independence?

WaxOnFeckOff · 06/02/2021 23:57

I think it means it's ok if the government is corrupt as long as it's the one you voted for?

Bumped and signed.

The Sunday Times reports more infighting and sackings.

Apologies- I see you had already posted about Neal Hanvey.

PinkyParrot · 07/02/2021 07:45

If an member lies to parliament then they must hand their resignation to NS - this applies to her too.

The AS thing has run and run so I suspect she did lie to parliament .

WouldBeGood · 07/02/2021 10:53

Personally I won’t vote for corrupt politicians, of any hue.

Just because Johnson is dishonest doesn’t mean it’s acceptable for others to be.

Dinnafashyersel · 07/02/2021 11:28

Keir Starmer flat out lied to Parliament this week and had to produce an apology to Hansard. It was deliberate as it was a repeat of a lie in a radio interview he had already been pulled up on.

They all lie all the time and they are all corrupt to an extent. The problem with the SNP atm is that there is no toleration of internal dissent to mitigate it and hold themselves to account. There also seems to be a fair amount of institutional capture going on. This is an inevitable risk in a country like Scotland with a culture of emigration.
