I have no idea as I have asthma but it's not severe I'm sure if I ended up in hospital they would say ah well she has a underlying health condition but according to vaccination role out I don't!

Interesting to see the slow roll out argument now England has just confirmed they have completed all care homes....... We are behind, its obvious we are behind and need to ramp it up quicker why can't they just say that!

titsbumfannythelot · 01/02/2021 13:05

Have just skimmed the bbc headlines. What do we think she means by 'other measures'- trying to second guess the soundbites is bloody tiring.

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 01/02/2021 13:10

@titsbumfannythelot what I took from the other measures is more mass testing and tighter border control than England. She's getting hammered about the slow vaccine roll out today .

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 01/02/2021 13:10

schools update tomorrow, so see what she's got to say.

Trying to be positive, I think home schooling is at least giving DD an insight into independent study which is a good tool for FE/HE study that she may progress too.

WaxOnFeckOff · 01/02/2021 13:12

I think there will be a travel ban and increased "border" controls (but no idea how that would be policed)

Reporting of what she said about slow vaccine. Not great. Maybe we need advice from England as to how to do it?

This is what I don't get..... We have the supplies, we have the people ready to go, yes Island communities are more tricky but why has it taken 4 weeks to set up large vaccination centres in Edinburgh and Aberdeen...... When my mum in England tells me that a vaccination centre has been set up in 2 days where she is......

It makes no sense these are major cities and its not like there aren't army bases up here!

IsurviveonCoffeeandWinein2021 · 01/02/2021 13:17

I don't understand it either. I know loads who have had it due to job but my granny who is in her 70's hasn't got a letter yet and she was a shielder but my great auntie has hers. They are the same health board. It's so frustrating

user1487194234 · 01/02/2021 13:20

Surely the SG should be throwing everything at ramping up the vaccination programme.
Why aren't they,Why can't Nicola tell us that rather than banging on about what she might tell us tomorrow

If we were doing better than England it would be the first thing she would say every day

anon444877 · 01/02/2021 13:20

haven't we been on a travel ban since at least November anyway? How long is it since we've been restricted to our own councils?

Are they going to find ways to enforce the rules they already have perhaps...

Must focus on work and stop hoping schools are going back :) it's like a bigger kind of pre-Christmas excitement.

WaxOnFeckOff · 01/02/2021 13:25

looking at the travelling tabby stats, saying it's Sundays is a bit of stretch. This week we did more on Sunday than we did on Monday and about the same as Tuesday and Thursday - in fact Sunday was only a couple of hundred less than the 7 day average.

It's the average that is way down in comparison and the gap is getting wider, it's disingenuous to blame it on Sundays.

OP posts:
Iwillneverbesatisfied · 01/02/2021 13:26

other measures could be keeping the 5 mile travel restriction, continuing with face masks and social distancing, maybe face masks outdoors

I meant more of a long term thing about going abroad or into England even when they start to relax things here.

I'm just speculating. I'm on holiday and would have been nice to go out for lunch.

double/triple/quadruple face masks?

rookiemere · 01/02/2021 13:28

Well maybe if England continues with their fast vaccination rate, then they'll not be wanting us there, rather than the other way round.

My fit skinny physically healthy 76 year old dm gets hers tomorrow in Fife. Inlaws with various health issues who are older in Angus have heard nothing.

WouldBeGood · 01/02/2021 13:36

@Dinosauratemydaffodils my dad in Angus, still not done.

I do not understand either why it’s not just a full on focus on vaccination just now by the SG.

Mass testing is certainly not a priority.

anon444877 · 01/02/2021 13:36

Sorry you've got a day off early feb with everything closed wax.

Coquohvan · 01/02/2021 13:43

No worries @Wax moving back up to us soon. NS knows she’s messed this up, fed up with here pathetic excuses. It’s not as if been she’s blindsided by getting vaccines early, just incompetence and stubbornness on SG part. As for her being pedantic about the England care homes, they said they have offered them to all care home residents. She questioned that they have been offered and done. I’ve always heard it in every news programme, England have always said offered a vax as in, here it is plz take it.

NotAnActualSheep · 01/02/2021 13:44

Thanks for the new thread wax. I fell of the last one as it was moving so quickly!

It sounds as if there will be extra quarantine hotel stuff coming tomorrow, as boris' proposals "don't go far enough". And everything crossed for schools, at least early years, which would give everyone else a bit of hope. It's ridiculous that the numbers in Edinburgh are in the 70s per 100,000, with

NotAnActualSheep · 01/02/2021 13:46

In home school news, DS has to write 10 questions for NS to answer (social subjects, politics in Scotland). I've had to take myself off to another room.

Joanna Cherry just tweeted to say she's been sacked from the SNP front bench.

I'm used to it, last year all my holidays bar October (when we had a few days pre-booked trip to the Lakes and had dinner out with an actual alcoholic drink!) have been in lockdown and suspect the same again this year as main holidays are 2nd half of June. I need to spread my holidays out so here I am with a couple of days off and nothing to do but argue the toss on the internet :o

Well, I have plenty housework to do but I'm procrastinating.
