Yep @RaspberryCoulis as long as I have my mat, no friends or outings needed!

Coquohvan · 31/01/2021 20:56

So happy for people on here for their parents being vaccinated yah.

MissEliza · 31/01/2021 21:10

It's weird how you feel happy for people when they get the vaccination and how pleased they are too. I bump into quite a lot of oldies when I'm out dog walking and they always make sure to let you know when they've had it.
Meanwhile dd (12) is going for her HPV jab at her school tomorrow and is not at all excited. I remember when we got jabs at secondary school we all gave each other moral support while standing in the line outside the nurse's office. She won't have that. I do feel sorry for her but she's made of tough stuff.

Cismyfatarse · 31/01/2021 21:38

Love the new Fred.

J&J are the people doing the vaccine trial I am on. 2nd dose soon (it is a one dose vaccine but they are trialling 2 doses). Fingers crossed I am on the good stuff.

Hope February is more cheerful and we get some good news.

Dinnafashyersel · 31/01/2021 21:49

Walked past all the signposting and flags for our shiny new vaccination centre earlier. DM and all her fellow 70+ friends have their appointments so fingers crossed for the big ramp up.

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 31/01/2021 21:51

PIL have both been done. Both late 70s. DF hasn't though, also late 70s, same LA.

rookiemere · 01/02/2021 07:29

Thank goodness January is over.
Cannot wait for the big vaccination centres to be open. So depressing seeing Scotland's vaccination rates compared to Englands. Let's hope for a better February.

Y0uCann0tBeSer10us · 01/02/2021 08:10

Yes, it's very depressing to see us stuck on about 24k a day and in last place. I'm hoping that the opening up of the mass vaccination centres and getting the army involved in the logistics will help us make up some ground. Papers this morning are reporting that England has now offered vaccine to all older care home residents AND their rate of vaccination is about twice ours, which kind of blows that excuse out of the water. Tbh it never quite made sense, as GPs were sitting ready just waiting for stock, so they could have been done in parallel.

RaspberryCoulis · 01/02/2021 08:10

When will they tell you which group you're in, @Cismyfatarse? I saw a GP being interviewed on the telly who said she'd been in a vaccine trial with her DH, she was called for a vaccination because of her job, she had to call up the company and ask which group she'd been in so as not to be vaccinated twice. But her DH still doesn't know.

Fingers crossed for you, I signed up too but have never been contacted.

Coquohvan · 01/02/2021 08:16

Hope Cpt Tom gets better, he is such inspiration. Tomorrow will be a better day.

LizzieMacQueen · 01/02/2021 09:03

My worry is that once we've got the infrastructure in place to vax the under 60s, we'll be told by WHO to stop until the rest of the world catches up. Life in limbo.

littlbrowndog · 01/02/2021 09:09

Great to hear about the jabbing for parents 👏👏👏👏

Hope we get the nurseries open soon please

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 01/02/2021 09:10

I don't think the WHO would do that @LizzieMacQueen but yes to the rest of the world catching up, which would mean restrictions still in place regarding travelling.

cdtaylornats · 01/02/2021 09:12

If we weren't getting our full allocation of the vaccine then Sturgeon would be on TV every minute decrying Westminster. The fact she is missing from the media suggests that distribution within Scotland is the problem and she is hiding from questions.

rookiemere · 01/02/2021 09:20

Well exactly @cdtaylornats . The recent letter we all received in Scotland was very cleverly worded and if you didn't know the facts, you might assume that the issues with the distribution chain lay South of the border.
But I'm trying to be more positive so hopefully these big vaccination centres will get the process speeded up.

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 01/02/2021 09:25

any thoughts on what tiers each LA will be in when we come out of full lockdown (when is that meant to be? end of Feb?)

Will West of Scotland still be in tier 4, with the likes of A&B in tier 3? etc?

LetItGoGo · 01/02/2021 09:34

.

Cismyfatarse · 01/02/2021 09:46

@RaspberryCoulis My science pals tell me I won't be told until the trial ends. But the trial people told me that when offered a vaccine appointment they would unblind me.

I am 51 so appointment in May (or October, as in Scotland...)

Lockdownbear · 01/02/2021 09:50

WHO are trying to put the pressure on the first world countries to share vaccines out. However I can't see them bowing to the pressure especially with the recognition of Long Covid, without meaning to be harsh.
The dead are gone, long covid could leave a significant number disabled.

However until the rest of the world is vaccinated nobody is safe and international travel will be a distant memory.

I don't actually think they'll be a return to teirs. It seemed a good idea, probably copied from a country with spread out population, that just didn't really work in the central belt. It is far too interlinked but they couldn't abandon it completely hence ignoring the levels that they set out.

Scottishskifun · 01/02/2021 10:05

I don't think they will return to tiers system in the same form partly because some areas might show low of tier 1 but they won't want to open it all up again at the same time.

I think it's going to be slow and gradual with one bit opening followed by monitoring Sad

rookiemere · 01/02/2021 10:14

I can't see a return to Tiers any time soon as it reveals the unpalatable truth that the Scotland numbers have been consistently driven by Glasgow - for whatever reason that might be - and of course if your core voters lie in that area you don't want to be seen to be singling them out for different treatment when you have an election definitely happening in May, although we know not when our DCs are going back to nursery, school, hospitality is reopening etc. etc.

Gawd I'm really sorry for lack of impartiality there, I know Boris is mucking it up differently, but I'm just so angry that an election can be diarised when nothing else can.

RaspberryCoulis · 01/02/2021 10:18

Tiers, levels, zones, alert areas - who the fuck cares any more? It's changed 100 times, they keep changing it, moving the goalposts, shifting timescales. "These are the criteria for tier 3" - oh but actually, X and Y have happened so into Tier 4 you pop. And East Dunbartonshire / East Renfrewshire, you are too associated with those manky Weegies so into Tier 4 you pop too. And do not question us on this because PEOPLE ARE (sadly) DYING.

Had enough now, another day where numbers of cases are falling and we're not jabbing quickly enough. Another month at least of kids being at home doing a few lessons.

runningpink · 01/02/2021 10:31

I also hope they don’t go back to the tiers as they were pointless, inconsistent and Nicola didn’t stick to the guidance around them. Level 1 but wait you can’t do xyz yet, or cases in line for level 2 but no we won’t change you type stuff.

Although what the alternative is I don’t actually know. Can whatever we get be any worse?

WaxOnFeckOff · 01/02/2021 10:38

In Stirling we never ever got the level we should have had so it's all pointless. I can't see it going back to that. We now seem to have one rule for mainland and another for islands and then the islands get treated to mainland restrictions from time to time.
