@rookiemere after two months (3?) of no exercise I think I’ll be struggling to breathe, never mind MN 😂

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 04/02/2021 12:43

We're in East Dun. DH got an appointment letter this morning for his first jag: 10th Feb at SECC, but he can change it to a date from 3rd Feb if he wants.
He turned 65 last year and has no health conditions, so we were a bit surprised. We've said all along there are many people more deserving than him or me, but he'll go anyway.

blowinahoolie · 04/02/2021 12:47

Not getting freedom to exercise has been very depressing, tbh. Especially if used to getting out for walks, or gym, or whatever you do regularly. Only walking at toddler pace locally not quite the same thing. I don't think of this as exercise. Still, all going well with infection rates in a few weeks, there is hope of returning to some freedoms with wee ones away out to nursery...🤞

Another good day for vaccination numbers (although not so much for relatives in Edinburgh..). Better late than never I suppose! Hopefully this is genuinely the start of an acceleration and not just a blip as we have a lot of catching up to do.

titsbumfannythelot · 04/02/2021 12:55

Will your work be flexible about wfh @jabbathebutt?

anon444877 · 04/02/2021 12:59

I'm worried about wfh options drying up too, so much nicer (when the kids are back!) and if offices are converted to residential, could help housing stock too.

Of course in an ideal world there would be more green space as well.

So many more families could have dogs if one parent wfh, which is great for mh, your immune system etc.

jabbathebutt · 04/02/2021 13:03

@titsbumfannythelot I'm vulnerable and my doctor says I need to WFH but my manager was like "oh but we're covid secure"
errr not for me you aren't. Covid secure actually causes me more problems, not less.
She doesn't seem to understand that. She keeps saying oh we are all working from home, aye but youse aren't vulnerable and when you go back, I still might not be able to!
I'm in a union though that I could potentially call on if I need to.
Really need all restrictions removed for me to be safe, not just some of them. Got 7 disabilities and health conditions.
It was difficult enough pre covid but all those rules just aren't compatible with some disabilities (eg people with mobility problems, visual impairments, learning disabilities)

makingitupaswegoon · 04/02/2021 13:12

Sorry I don't see Scotland as doing brilliantly with the vaccines - still no letter / appointment for DF late 70s with underlying health conditions - Fife - and Edinburgh a mess also.

jabbathebutt · 04/02/2021 13:25

DM cant understand why her BF who is CEV along with her DH too, havent had theirs. the BF is 69, her DH is 72 and they live in same area as us but a different GP practice. So maybe its down to the efficiency of the practice and not postcode or age? Our practice is very good.

Lockdownbear · 04/02/2021 13:27

That's mental that East Dun are getting 60s somethings done before Lanarkshire has got the 70s done.

I see the vaccines getting better but I don't see it being great.

SG always use rural as an excuse. What percentage of Scottish people live in truly rural areas?

blowinahoolie · 04/02/2021 14:01

"What percentage of Scottish people live in truly rural areas?"

The real question is how many rural areas are there, which impacts on logistics of getting there to vaccinate. The number of residents in each rural area is not too much of the issue here...

titsbumfannythelot · 04/02/2021 14:13

I hope your work/ union get it sorted for you @jabbathebutt.

I never realised how much I relied on lip reading until masks were introduced and I have no hearing issues. I hope workplaces put in additional support for people or allow the wfh to continue where it would help employees.

jabbathebutt · 04/02/2021 14:21

most people in rural areas can still get their post, a phone call, an email so FFS they can still be told about their jag dates.
Getting there can be difficult, I know that, but from my experience of working with customers in rural area, the main challenge was the time it took to get to an appointment rather than the HOW.
So if you give them enough notice, I'm sure they can figure out a way to get their jags.
More BS from the SG.

Sootess · 04/02/2021 14:36

according to this from Scotland gov in 2017 only 6% of population live in remote rural, so there should be no problem with accessing 94% of the population

Coquohvan · 04/02/2021 14:51

Yes yes to gyms opening and not to leave them till the last to open as previously done.
DH & I both got our vax letters today, 9/2

Cismyfatarse · 04/02/2021 15:06

What surprises me is how low the vaccination figures are in Fife. They BBC had it broken down by area. Fife, as compared with Highland, for example, is not extremely rural and there are good sized towns and infrastructure.

Yet, very low figures indeed. Will find a link.

Cismyfatarse · 04/02/2021 15:11

DH's theory is that Fife and Lothian don't vote SNP so they are being given fewer vaccines to kill off the No voters.

He is a mad conspiracy theorist!

Scottishskifun · 04/02/2021 15:17

It's good that they are accelerating as long as they sustain the level!

I hope they also start to really examine and target specific hotpots. Glasgow numbers are still high its not just because its the most populated city and can't solely be down to poverty aspects when Edinburgh and Aberdeen are down the bottom and there are some very very deprived areas in both of those and Dundee is improving as well which has deprived areas.
It's not fair on people or businesses in Glasgow I would love to see real action being taken in communities.

I live in a now low part of the country which looks as if its improving quickly.

anon444877 · 04/02/2021 15:42

Global covid vaccinated numbers exceeded global confirmed cases per the FT - big milestone.

blowinahoolie · 04/02/2021 15:48

cis Fife is fairly rural compared to many other regions of Scotland, or am I missing something?🤔

blowinahoolie · 04/02/2021 15:49

All relatives in the Kingdom haven't received their letters yet so no idea when they are being vaccinated🤷

makingitupaswegoon · 04/02/2021 15:53

Glad to know it is not just my DP (Fife) who haven't got a letter but it is a bit rubbish as there are a large number of urban areas in Fife - I don't think it is particularly rural.

Cismyfatarse · 04/02/2021 16:02

More rural than Highland? Orkney? Dumfries and Galloway?

WouldBeGood · 04/02/2021 16:03

Hurray! My dad eventually got his today! Astra Zeneca
