It's like a bloody toddler insisting they are going to dress themselves rather than use the support there to help them.

@anon444877

Those armed forces that are helping, the same ones they aren't planning to pay for in the glorious golden future?
I have it on good authority these lads are making their way to a testing station near you.

wouldbegood fully accept outside the trunk roads infrastructure has its "limitations". My English friends did somewhat regret rejecting my advice about not taking the A82 all the way from Inverness to Glasgow.

I have loads of Scottish / British army friends. I'll leave you to imagine their thoughts on the SNP equivocating on their role in Scotland. They're still a bit touchy about the attempts to disenfrachise half of them in 2014.

anon444877 · 03/02/2021 15:14

Grinmust volunteer!

Dinnafashyersel · 03/02/2021 15:21

Raspberry still not forgiven the army boy who stood me up on my 18th cos he was delayed on his way home. Probably best to find out early if you're not cut out for it.

My cousin's DH is airforce. She is made of far sterner stuff than me.

StarryEyeSurprise · 03/02/2021 15:25

The army has been asked to help throughout though hasn't it? It helped set up the Louise Jordan amongst other things.
Our troops from Leuchars helped set up vaccination centres across Scotland last month.

Army helped in Scotland with identifying and set up of vaccination centres not administration of vaccines. England on the other hand have been using Army personnel to help deliver vacancies since the 7th of Jan (going by UK briefing confirmation dates).

So the big question is why has it taken nearly a month for Scotland to set up the same? I'm not usually political but this reeks of political tennis to me which for something so god damn important it shouldn't!

WouldBeGood · 03/02/2021 15:46

I genuinely don’t understand why she couldn’t tell us this happily today, if it’s not a political thing for her.

Anyway, I’m quite looking forward to my jab now 😃

StarryEyeSurprise · 03/02/2021 15:53

So the vaccination centre Johnson visited didn't have army personnel vaccinating last week then? Not sure why he had the photoshoot there then or was it just to show the tent was there..

Dinnafashyersel · 03/02/2021 15:59

Massive difference in tone with UK Gov messaging on vaccine roll out. Carping from the sidelines and making excuses is not instilling confidence or showing much appreciation or support for those getting on with the task in hand.

Nadhim Zahawi:
"The magic 10,000,000 reached. That is ten million of the most vulnerable and those who look after them. Well done to the best team in the world!
@NHSuk big shout out to the thousands of nurses who have been at the heart of this deployment."

anon444877 · 03/02/2021 16:06

10m done - well that is amazing. Bloody wonderful news.

StarryEyeSurprise · 03/02/2021 16:08

That's brilliant, no?
My dad got his this afternoon- same set up as the flu jag . Said it worked really well both times.

ladylunchalot · 03/02/2021 16:10

I'm getting frustrated at still not being able to pick up shifts at the vaccine clinics. Had my interview 3 weeks ago, got offered Bank shifts which I wanted as I'm internal. Sent away various paperwork even though I am NHS staff and still nothing. Not even the paperwork to set me up on Bank. No bloody wonder it's so slow. I'm not alone, there are 2 trained vaccinators where I work who are in the same position.

Sootess · 03/02/2021 16:12

10 million! Wow.......just wow

WaxOnFeckOff · 03/02/2021 16:12

Oh yes, was saying today to a colleague, no-one is complaining about the hard work and dedication of those who are out doing the actual injections. It's the rollout and excuses and trying to make us believe what we can all see is instead not what our eyes see and instead something completely different.

If there is a specific justified reason why Scotland is going to go slower on roll-out, just state that upfront and I'm sure most folk would understand.

ladylunchalot · 03/02/2021 16:18

@WaxOnFeckOff it's certainly not the willingness of staff as we're all champing at the bit to do our extra shifts, just higher up the food chain that seem to be stalling.

Groovee · 03/02/2021 16:18

@WouldBeGood

Oh! News! The Army are to help, starting tomorrow 😊
That will be a number of our parents who have been on standby.
Groovee · 03/02/2021 16:19

@StatisticallyChallenged

So why the fuck had we not called them in before then??
A lot of our parents have been on standby waiting on this since school returned 🤷🏻‍♀️
Sweetpotatoaddict · 03/02/2021 16:27

It seems a lot of people are ready and willing to immunise but not being utilised.

I also wonder if roll out through some areas is low at present is literally because the life expectancy is tragically lower than the priority criteria for the groups being vaccinated at present. Thus increasing healthcare inequality, its so sad.

WouldBeGood · 03/02/2021 16:28

@Groovee that’s good!

I really hope they get things moving. I think they will

That’s a really interesting point. It’s brought me up short, it’s so sad.

It might be a really good reason for doing lower age groups in those areas. Though hard for a government to admit necessary

kurtrussellsbeard · 03/02/2021 16:33

How many vaccines have we been allocated does anyone know? And what's the timeline for our next lot? I wish it was all a bit clearer.

kurtrussellsbeard · 03/02/2021 16:33

Although to be fair I've been busy and haven't actually tried to seek out this information. Apologies if it is freely available!

Sweetpotatoaddict · 03/02/2021 16:34

It's something that has been in my mind since they announced the groups, sadly areas of deprivation have lower life expectancy, and have also been shown to have been disproportionately effected by covid.

It is so so sad.
