Thanks StatisticallyChallenged.

Peppafrig · 02/02/2021 14:48

Why does a higher uptake matter in terms of the fact we are behind in vaccination numbers? Do we spend twice as long doing the jabs since we are persuading people instead? - smoke and fucking mirrors again

Bytheloch · 02/02/2021 14:48

Yep, spot on @WaxOnFeckOff

frasersmummy · 02/02/2021 14:50

i had hoped she would have prioritised exam years.. not just for practical subjects
and if not at least have a plan for how the kids will be assessed

She clearly doesnt think education is important

And once again no idea if ASC can open for p1-3. Sigh

LetItGoGo · 02/02/2021 14:51

I did see London with a relatively low rate of over 80s done.

I'd rather the SG compared themself to North East England as a stretch target..

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 02/02/2021 14:52

will my DD (S2) get 2 weeks in school before 2 weeks off at easter Confused or will it not be until after Easter at all?

RaspberryCoulis · 02/02/2021 14:53

It's all a bit "give them a bit and tell them we're doing all we can", hoping that'll be enough to shut us up.

Great news for those with kids in pre-school and P1-P3. OK news for those of us with kids S4-S6, albeit that it sounds like they're going to be in for 5 minutes a week. My S1 has been forgotten. Again. I don't think he'll be back until after Easter.

The reason she left education to the end was because she KNEW that's what 90% of us were waiting to hear. Great way of getting us all to sit through the rest of her guff.

And as for the travel ban, what a pile of nonsense. She can quarantine people flying into Scotland from outside the UK. Which today is ZERO flights into Glasgow, and ONE flight from Doha into Edinburgh which probably had a dozen people on it. And much as she'd love to roadblock the M74 at Carlisle, there is fuck all she can do about people flying into an English/Welsh airport and making their way north.

Exactly frasersmummy - why could she not have even given indicative dates. Other posters are right - we are drifting to Easter here.

I could cry - my kids are struggling but are in a relatively strong position - but the kids who are in difficult home environments are never going to recover from this

And still total radio silence on how qualifications are going to be assessed

why do we always have to compare ourselves to the lowest other statistic given that London is probably the least equivalent comparison out of all the areas to choose?

Choose somewhere with similar demographics maybe?

And someone needs to tell her that in many areas kids return from the Feb holidays on 16th Feb, not 22nd.

Coquohvan · 02/02/2021 14:57

It’s spin on labels. She calls is uptake ie got the jab. England call it offered, non the less their way ahead on % whatever she calls it.

LetItGoGo · 02/02/2021 14:58

WaxOn I didn't watch so I'm just chatting nonsense!

However if she's comparing overall English take-up to Scottish take-up it is comparing apples and pears imo.

WaxOnFeckOff · 02/02/2021 14:58

Await today's figures but this was bbc today

Do we think practical subjects include music performance?

What about the speaking element of languages?

Surely in 2 weeks she will give a date for remaining pupils to go back before Easter?
If review on 22 February and she wants to give at least 2 weeks notice that still leaves 4/5 weeks before the Easter holidays?

RaspberryCoulis · 02/02/2021 15:00

The whole "given the jab" versus "offered the jab" is slippery spin and she must think our heads zip up the back.

Scary thing is that people are loving it. Isn't Nicola amazing, keeping us safe.... Bollocks she is.

Yeah, I don't think England went "would you like a vaccine...Well ye cannae have one ha ha".
TheMShip · 02/02/2021 15:02

Didn't watch it all but the summary from the BBC says pretty clearly that this is a plan, to be confirmed in 2 weeks, and in 2 weeks they will set out a plan for the other school years. I note that's vague, does not say we will get dates in 2 weeks, but it's better than the impression I got from reading here.

"Scotland's youngest pupils are likely to return to the classroom full time from 22 February as schools start a phased reopening.

The move will include all pupils in P1-P3 as well as pre-school children.

There will also be a part-time return, but on a very limited basis, for senior secondary pupils to allow them to complete work for national qualifications.

A final decision will be taken on the partial reopening in a fortnight.

Further details of the next phase of the gradual return to schools will also be set out at that point, alongside a timescale for the return of in-person learning for colleges and universities."

dancemom · 02/02/2021 15:03

The BBC weren't clear, the senior pupils is to complete any practical work only

It wasn't clear. I'd assume art, design, science practicals, maybe music for things like piano where it would be hard to see and assess via webcam? Maybe drama too.

I'd think language could be done remotely

Coquohvan · 02/02/2021 15:05

What’s this ‘head room’ talk about? That’s nonsense.

dancemom · 02/02/2021 15:05
