education is clearly at the bottom of her list

sigh

Cismyfatarse · 02/02/2021 14:35

Expand regular testing in health.

(Shouldn't this already be in place?)

Cismyfatarse · 02/02/2021 14:36

Expanding community testing......

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 02/02/2021 14:36

Its all self inflicted hence my complete lack of sympathy and its nothing compared to what us vulnerable folk are enduring due to her OTT approach.

Peppafrig · 02/02/2021 14:36

@kurtrussellsbeard

Revelling in someone's misery and poor appearance is the strangest thing.
It is bizarre isn’t it the amount of joy I seen from certain people in Scotland when Boris nearly died of Covid was very strange .
Cismyfatarse · 02/02/2021 14:37

Lots of testing....

(Just not of kids in exam years because nobody cares about that).

Cismyfatarse · 02/02/2021 14:38

Cut to the chase.

anon444877 · 02/02/2021 14:38

I'm not sure she's right that the difference between 96 percent and 98 percent of the most at risk matters if you're going for herd immunity via a very fast vaccination roll-out - which is what we're doing isn't it?

oooh finally on schools!

kurtrussellsbeard · 02/02/2021 14:39

Thanks for that whataboutery there @Peppafrig you didn't see it from me and it hasn't happened on this thread in the last five minutes. Snidey digs about NS's appearance has and that's what I was commenting on.

Peppafrig · 02/02/2021 14:39

Oh nothing for P7 I’m shocked

Cismyfatarse · 02/02/2021 14:39

Judgement is that all agree....

Phased return to school from 22nd Feb

Cismyfatarse · 02/02/2021 14:40

22nd February early learning and childcare and p1-3

Phased return for Senior practical work.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 02/02/2021 14:40

@IncludeWomenInTheSequel

Why not include regular testing of teachers? We have shitloads of capacity we're not using.
Oh, it will be offered. Well, that's really good.
dancemom · 02/02/2021 14:41

If lockdown is to ease from the end of March so we think that will include the rest of the pupils going back then?

Cismyfatarse · 02/02/2021 14:41

Testing in education setting offered at home twice a week. And for senior pupils.

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/02/2021 14:42

For anyone not catching sturgeon

  • lockdown is working, cases have halved in 3 weeks
  • case positivity down to 6ish %
  • number in hospital 30% above high in peak 1, although ICU never got as high in wave 2. Both seem to have peaked
-:risk of reducing restrictions
  • possible increased risk of hospitalisation with Kent variant which is being examined but no statistically significant increase in death
  • vaccination update, didn't catch all stats. Believes we're getting a higher uptake in highest risk groups but this isn't evidenced
  • mass vaccination centres for younger groups expectedly to increase speed
  • need to guard against importation of other variants, we'd almost eliminated it in July but reseeded from overseas
  • current uk quarantine rules too reactive so intend to introduce managed quarantine for people arriving in Scotland from anywhere. I think this is non uk only as she mentioned not being able to stop arrivals via rUK ports
  • increase in regular testing to various healthcare groups, plus considering industries like food
  • ffs...tell us about schools woman
  • extending eligibility for 500 self isolation to everyone with income below real living wage

SCHOOLS

  • Need to keep schools closed to most
  • room for manoeuvre limited but want kids back
  • if we stay in lockdown then we can begin phased return from 22nd February
  • 22nd Feb, full time return for nursery and 1-3
  • part time for senior pupils to do practicals, 5 to 8% in
  • additional ASN space
  • in 2 weeks will confirm this and hopefully return for rest can be set out
  • significant expansion of testing for teaching and ELC to be tested twice a week at home
LoopyGremlin · 02/02/2021 14:43

And what about kids p4-s3 😡

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/02/2021 14:44

I obviously started typing that before some other posts

Peppafrig · 02/02/2021 14:44

@LoopyGremlin

And what about kids p4-s3 😡
She said she will set that out in two weeks time from what I gather
anon444877 · 02/02/2021 14:45

you'd have to put money on rest back for schools after Easter hols - they're off 1-19 April-ish aren't they?

I'm very relieved - and as I type this I hear my younger daughter screaming upstairs and again, refusing to do any bloody school work so thank goodness the countdown is on!

WaxOnFeckOff · 02/02/2021 14:45

Why does a higher uptake matter in terms of the fact we are behind in vaccination numbers? Do we spend twice as long doing the jabs since we are persuading people instead? - smoke and fucking mirrors again.

Folk on the BBC Scotland FB comments think we are doing great as we've reached our target - the target that was halved is that?

Or that well at least we have less deaths, well actually not that much if you use the excess deaths rather than those after a positive test as the testing amounts affect that.

So many just believe whatever they are fed - it's really depressing.

No mention of when the next phase of school pupils will be getting back? So still stuck in limbo with no end in sight...

StatisticallyChallenged · 02/02/2021 14:47

@LoopyGremlin

And what about kids p4-s3 😡
Hopefully there will be a timeline in 2 weeks...
shouldistop · 02/02/2021 14:47

Why does a higher uptake matter in terms of the fact we are behind in vaccination numbers? Do we spend twice as long doing the jabs since we are persuading people instead? - smoke and fucking mirrors agai

I know, sounds like an excuse made up overnight

TeenTraumaTrials · 02/02/2021 14:47

So senior phase pupils doing design or art will get into school for a few hours to do assessments - and that's it!! Nothing about P7 transition or the rest of the senior phase, or the rest of primary for that matter. And we might get a plan in another 2 weeks.

But she's going to announce easing lockdown from start of March which is only a week after the phased return - so much for kids getting into schools being the first thing that will happen
