Mr G is getting there. We're disagreeing about him returning to work on Thursday. If he worked from home then not an issue but he can be in 10/12 different houses a day! He's still yellow and I'm concerned his immune system is low too.

WaxOnFeckOff · 26/01/2021 19:11

That's it @Pootle40

I have such lovely memories of times there when DC were small. First trip they were still babies, I think about 9 months and 20 months.

Lidlfix · 26/01/2021 19:11

Oasis - happy memories. My girls were water babies so splashed all day flaked out at night and we got peace (to fall asleep after one wine) and to have some down time. I do remember driving to Penrith for warmer clothes one year . We used to go in the days before I taught so we went in June and it wasn't as crazy expensive.

WaxOnFeckOff · 26/01/2021 19:11

I think you need to put your foot down @Groovee. We've got your back!

WouldBeGood · 26/01/2021 19:14

Oh, @Groovee, that’s both good and annoying! 💐

I went once too before it was taken over and loved it. But I do like Center Parcs too although agree a bit over priced.
Lidlfix · 26/01/2021 19:17

Groovee does he not need a "fit for work note/ signing off line " not sure what the up to date expression is? His GP might not think his return to work is ok even if he does.

Feeling ok and being at home is a big difference from being back at work.

WaxOnFeckOff · 26/01/2021 19:19

We went to the one in Sherwood one year and then did the nearby Forest Lodges for the 2nd week. Sherwood CP was fine, not different enough or better than the lakes one to make it worth the trip imho. The forest lodges are lovely and we had a nice time in the area though. During a few cycles the 2nd week, we found a sneaky route into CP so if we'd ever have gone back i think i would have maybe have booked forest lodges and just snuck in to use the pool not really as too law abiding

Yes I'm sure the gp wouldn't think he was fit yet grovee but glad he's well enough to be asking the question.

I have looked into going to Penrith CP several times but the cost always makes me blink.

we went a lot "off peak" when DC were pre school and benefitted a few times from having different half terms. One February holiday we went and met half the folk from the estate I live on and my niece and her kids!

Other times we've gone as soon as the schools break up and got a reasonable deal for the Monday to Friday and then tacked a week somewhere else on. Then just made the most of the facilities when we are there and do loads of outside stuff the other week. We mainly now get a cabin in the north lakes and we've found a good place to go for go karting etc which again isn't cheap but is cheaper than CP. And late teen/adult DC don't need half the entertaining that younger ones do. A pack of cards and a crate of booze usually works fine Wink

Groovee · 26/01/2021 20:16

I remember oasis. Lots of my children in the nursery went there. Then it became CP.

71yo mum got her vaccine letter but 82yo dad hasn't heard anything... Hmm

Groovee · 26/01/2021 20:17

Dh has agreed to call the dr tomorrow. I know if it was me, (on the rota for supporting KW children), I would ask to work from home. Not sure dh can but I do think more time off is needed then a phased in return. He's never been off sick before so he's not sure about it all.

Heard that from a lot of people. The over 70's having their app while over80's still in the dark.
WouldBeGood · 26/01/2021 20:19

@Groovee see, I’m a bit like your DH, so can see his point though objectively I agree with you

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 26/01/2021 20:20

We went to center parcs a lot in the 80s/early 90s. We absolutely loved it. Then it got overpriced, run down and same-y. I know they've done a makeover but it still isn't as good as it used to be.

Invisimamma · 26/01/2021 20:45

We have a Haven booked for a week in July, it was very cheap. Prestige accommodation with the Play & Swim passes was £350.

They have a good covid refund guarantee and we thought we should book a UK break now before we're priced out of everything. It's not the holiday we wanted but if it goes ahead I will absolutely make the most it!

It's a long drive (by our standards) so we're stopping at a travel lodge on the way down and it was only £24 for a family room.

frasersmummy · 26/01/2021 23:59

I see nicola sturgeon refused to give any kind of parameters for reopening schools..its not about case numbers or the r number.. In other words they don't have a plan to reopen them.

Makes me mad!!! 😡

We'll need to see what happens later 😂

shouldistop · 27/01/2021 06:22

@frasersmummy yes, I noticed that. We clearly deserve no explanation of their rationale.

Really? That's disappointing.

Am running away from the other thread. Agh!

This is much nicer here.

I was reduced to stuffing down a very dry co-op cake yesterday. DD was supposed to bring cake but seem to have ignored the wonders of the local bakeries in favour of a rather unpleasant offering.

Ate the lot.

And then watched an old rom com.

Sometimes you just need to eat all the damn cake!

Cismyfatarse · 27/01/2021 07:33

If you lot had been there I would have shared. Honest.

My gran in her late 90s is still waiting. She is calling her gp every day so I reckon they keep putting her to the bottom of the list because she's annoying them so much
