If I'd managed to strip beds shouldistop I'd be well pleased - good luck for the ultrasound.

WouldBeGood · 28/01/2021 08:37

All the best for the scan @shouldistop

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/01/2021 08:38

The wokeness is getting nonsensical, and I don't actually think it's even helping the groups it claims to support either. We seem to be telling people that normal disagreement is hideous oppression, whilst simultaneous ignoring actual issues they face. Teenage girl straggling with mental health and expressing it through gender identity? Oh no, you can't get any support through CAHMS or similar without a very long wait, but there is an endless stream of commentary on how badly they're treated and how hated they are by everyone, especially the women who actually support them in a real and tangible way.

runningpink · 28/01/2021 08:39

Thanks all.
In some ways I think I would be handling this all a lot easier if I was working/juggling childcare, being able to help etc wouldn’t have the time to let my brain go into overdrive.
Don’t get me wrong I have absolutely no idea what you are all going through juggling it all, I can only imagine.

I think part of me is scared. As much as I hate life now, I have my own weird sort of routine. But il need to adapt again and again when/if they start lifting stuff and I hate getting my head round changes. Especially this amount in such a short period.

Good luck at the hospital @shouldistop let us know how you get onIs Nicola still waiting until next week for school stuff or do you think she will update today/tomorrow after Boris announcement?

MrsRockAndRoll · 28/01/2021 08:40

Maybe I'm being stupid but I genuinely don't understand why BoJo is starting to lift restrictions in Feb & yet schools won't go back until March???????? Surely schools should go back first as they are the "priority" we keep hearing about

As for NS yesterday I could cry. My children desperately need socialised, they are both usually in nursery so I don't have anyone I can meet in the park (when it's not rain/snow) to give them a play date. My eldest desperately misses his friends.

I'm up for redundancy & DH is furloughed. But until a couple of weeks ago one of us was trying to WFH or use holidays for childcare. It's too hard.

MrsRockAndRoll · 28/01/2021 08:46

@WaxOnFeckOff

I remember muumuu from the Simpsons tv show when homer got really fat. We joke about it at work every Christmas when heading back to the office and when none of our clothes fit. We always said one year we should all actually do it - i shouldn't imagine that'll ever happen now with the change to working arrangements.
This episode was on the other day & I told DH this is what we'll be wearing soon!

Thanks, I will. I don't think she'll do any update today, she'll stick to her original date.

I too think it's sometimes easier to be busy with maybe a day or 2 of down time a week. I wouldn't find it easy having nothing constructive to do, I'd probably drink and eat too much!

Managed to get baby ds to sleep woohoo. Have stuck the washing and dishwasher on, now for a nice shower at last.

Running pink, did you ever form that bubble with friends,? Why not get in touch and invite them to yours at the weekend?

One of the best quotes I read on the pandemic "we are all in the same storm but different boats" nobody is having an easy time but every one has different problems.

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 28/01/2021 09:32

is it next week we find out when restrictions in Scotland will be lifted? Will she announce tiers then? I can't see the central belt going lower than tier 4 tbh, although I haven't looked at the comparison of cases recently - which areas are the highest for cases?

WaxOnFeckOff · 28/01/2021 09:48

It's also the dialling wand for using the phone that cracks me up :o

Majority of central west above 200, Edinburgh, East Lothian, Argyll and Bute and islands mostly sitting below 100 and the rest in-between
rogueantimatter · 28/01/2021 10:00

I'm a volunteer on the Novavax trial. Is that the one you're doing cismyfatarse ?

Sweetpotatoaddict · 28/01/2021 10:12

I was looking at the cases last night, they are definitely declining. Some neighbourhood areas within the central belt are lower than they have been since October.
I wonder if we will see a different system (again). I can't see them going to full level 3 for ages, however level 4 was never supposed to include full school closures.
The R number must quite a bit lower than one now, we are going in the right direction and I feel optimistic about the cases however I don't feel optimistic about things opening up anytime soon. Last year was the same, we were stuck in really tight restrictions for what felt like forever when there was hardly any cases in the summer, and now it feels like it achieved very little except perhaps a less resilient population now, who are as a whole broken and therefore more susceptible to illness.

runningpink · 28/01/2021 10:47

@Lockdownbear no I didn’t bubble up sadly

However I did manage to meet up with that friend last week as I had an appointment in her council area.

I am managing to see people for walks so I am getting company. Think I just need more. And really starting to need a hug again. Think I will ask friend at weekend for a hug

Lockdownbear · 28/01/2021 10:51

Bless you honey its been such long time. FlowersCake

Groovee · 28/01/2021 11:02

Hope all goes well @shouldistop

I thought it was Monday for a school's announcement.

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/01/2021 11:41

I think school's announcement is the 2nd (Tuesday) unfortunately

blowinahoolie · 28/01/2021 11:49

Was seriously hoping by end of this week they'd have an idea on nurseries going back mid February.

Coquohvan · 28/01/2021 12:06

Just back on from walking miss Darcy showed heavily here through the night and just noticed our spring bulbs are peeking through the tubs I planted way back in October. Was that 3 moths ago madness. Had a wee smile.

Yes we’re all feeling this in different ways. Not seen our children or grandchildren since New Year’s Day when we had a walk together, bad us. DH working mostly from home in his study some days in the office.
I have made up a to do list off jobs to keep me occupied in the day, if my mother could see me hoovering my cutlery draw 😀 lots of walks as well.
Our daughter just told us that she is down for getting her jab mid February immune system low due to meds she takes. So that’ll make us feel better when she gets it.

All those getting/waiting on medical procedures all the best.

I’ve gotten a new cook book Pinch of Nom quick & easy 100 recipes. Would recommend it made quite a few from it, favs so far Malaysian fish curry chicken stew with dumplings and Mongolian beef, all under 400 calls really filling with lots of veg. All recipes give calories and a lot can be batched cooked and froze.

hilbil21 · 28/01/2021 12:07

@Coquohvan I've got it too. The creamy bolognese is delicious.

WaxOnFeckOff · 28/01/2021 12:16

Just popped on to say same as all you guys, it's not a misery competition, everyone is struggling just with different things.

Dh had his procedure this morning and is all clear :)

Coquohvan · 28/01/2021 12:18

Great news @Wax relief for you all. Must try that one @hilbil21 DH is Italian any pasta recipe goes down well.

hilbil21 · 28/01/2021 12:22
