@Lockdownbear

Best guess, when do you honestly think nurseries will reopen?
is there a prize for the right answer? 50p a go for charity? :o

I'm honestly starting to think that they will forget about some of the things they've shut and it'll be 2026 and someone will go "didn't there used to be.... soft play/pubs/gyms/nurseries etc"

I'm going to guess after the Easter holidays.

WouldBeGood · 27/01/2021 23:07

I’m guessing Easter for nurseries and August for schools

Lockdownbear · 27/01/2021 23:09

I'm debating about asking for unpaid leave. The company announced a few months ago they weren't going to use the furlough scheme again.
I just cannot keep doing what I'm trying to do, my options are either rope in my mum to help or unpaid leave. DH spends so much time in meetings / calls that the kids are both on my shoulders.

WouldBeGood · 27/01/2021 23:28

@Lockdownbear it must be so hard. And the burden does fall disproportionately on women

frasersmummy · 27/01/2021 23:42

@wouldbegood if the schools are shut till August what do you. Imagine will happen to exam years

WouldBeGood · 27/01/2021 23:44

I don’t know. I’m really trying to prepare myself. I keep hoping and my hopes are dashed.

Rae36 · 28/01/2021 00:02

I'm still holding out for after Easter for schools because anything else is just unthinkable. If schools are open first that means nothing else opens till the summer?

WouldBeGood · 28/01/2021 00:04

I wanted to believe the two weeks to save the NHS 🤷🏻‍♀️

Lockdownbear · 28/01/2021 00:07

I think they'd be riots if schools are closed until August.
If i was confident nursery would reopen in mid February I'd muddle on, but with Boris saying 8th March for England I've lost the scrap of hope that i had. If i could at least get the LO out the way i think i could cope with homeschooling and work. But LO is being neglected. And hes proving to be a massive distraction to the older one so i feel like hes not doing anything unless im hanging over his shoulder.

WouldBeGood · 28/01/2021 00:15

Ignore me, I’m a doom merchant, sorry

Lockdownbear · 28/01/2021 00:51

Its ok we all have our moments, Smile
I was called a nonsense talking, doom monger by family before Christmas when I said that school would Easter. I'd also thought that I'd end up getting furloughed again but its business as usual. Then we had a bit of hope nursery would reopen.

I know people don't like Boris but he's at least been honest that it will be 8th March, so parents know to plan for the next 6 weeks at least. I'd much rather know i need to plan for the medium term than the constant drip feed, never really knowing if its right or wrong. We all know they have analyses counting numbers and have a good idea of when we'll hit a safe point in time.

Bytheloch · 28/01/2021 01:16

I just think it depends on whether they’re trying for McZero or as close to that as can be achieved. If we’re taking bets, I’d be putting money on this as the direction they’re heading in. Next steps, the reopening of childcare settings, then a staggered return of schools, with a lockdown continuing in place for everyone else until education is back in a meaningful way and the impact of that has been assessed.
We can’t possibly return to the original ‘levels’ any time soon as too many of us would be in level 1 or 2 now, based on the ScotGov’s own criteria🤷‍♀️

shouldistop · 28/01/2021 06:17

McZero Grin

runningpink · 28/01/2021 06:42

I’m so fed up and angry. I hate being sat at home bored when others are struggling so much. Wish I could help you all out. I like being busy, pottering about isn’t the same.

She better not go back to the stupid tiers. They were pointless from the start as they didn’t follow the criteria, put you in a tier but added restrictions on etc

I want the high risk to be vaccinated then let the rest of us make our own decisions again. If your happy to not wear masks, have friends round, go back to work etc then we should make that choice.
But it your still worried, scared, don’t want to mix etc then that’s your choice also

I’m meeting my friend for walks but it’s not enough at the morning for stopping the loneliness.

Sorry for the moaning, know I have it ‘easy’ compared to most of you.

shouldistop · 28/01/2021 06:44

@runningpink I don't think loneliness is easy Thanks

Groovee · 28/01/2021 07:26

Hugs @runningpink. We are all affected in different ways.

I honestly have no ideas when nursery will return. Do they let private and school go back while no one else is back? A number of friends down south all seem to keep isolating due to cases in nursery. I'm not sure my mental health could take having to isolate so much due to my job.

Bytheloch · 28/01/2021 07:51

Oh @runningpink it’s especially hard to be doing any of this alone. I really wish I could be with my friends who are alone right now, it’s absolutely not ‘easy’ for anyone.
Yes, agree, hope we are able to make our own risk assessments like grown ups, make our own choices about who we see and where we go and be reassured the NHS has capacity to cope in spring onwards, as it’s easy to forget this hardcore bit just now is about the impact of usual NHS winter load in conjunction with variable virus levels. I just wish I knew when in spring...or even if it’s spring 2021😒

titsbumfannythelot · 28/01/2021 07:58

Flowersrunning, no need to apologise. This is the place to vent.

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 28/01/2021 08:04

One of the jobs I turned down was the highest paying job (and fully home based) but it was clearly a very political and woke environment and I knew I wouldn't feel comfortable there.
Went for the lowest paid, temporary job (that may be back in the office soon) because they seemed like nice normal folk!
I really don't like how Scotland (and America - got family there) is becoming so woke. Don't get me wrong, equality matters to me, but some equality groups seem to matter more than others. Its like Animal Farm or something.

WouldBeGood · 28/01/2021 08:23

@runningpink I agree with you on the jag and then choices. It must be a bloody nightmare alone too.

WouldBeGood · 28/01/2021 08:24

McZero - I’m lovin’ it 🎶

titsbumfannythelot · 28/01/2021 08:25

😆 I see what you did there.

shouldistop · 28/01/2021 08:26

Urgh .... ds1 has gone to his granny's today so I thought I'd have an easy day with just the baby but his reflux is really bad this morning. I've been up since 6 and still haven't had a shower or finished a cup of tea, stripped the beds but haven't managed to get the sheets into the machine. It's going to be one of those days!
At least I managed to get ds1 dressed, fed and out the door I suppose!
Baby ds has a hospital appointment this afternoon for an ultrasound of his spine which I'm really nervous about. Fingers crossed there's nothing wrong.

WouldBeGood · 28/01/2021 08:26

And @Iwillneverbesatisfied yes on the woke thing. It’s really weird.

anon444877 · 28/01/2021 08:27

Agree iwill equality should be about removing barriers and fairness, not one group losing so another can gain. And tbh the govt could've managed all these changes better to ensure that end.

runningpink loneliness is awful, it's easier for me that we have to keep going for the kids in a lot of ways.
