Good news Wax.
Definitely not a misery competition, few people are finding it easy this time round, less people are furloughed, schools have upped their game, people are weary. Looking for an end.

Normality will return, it has too!

Bytheloch · 28/01/2021 12:48

Great news wax

I have the pinch of nom books too, lovely recipes, so tasty that I just crack on with the wine with my meal and forget they’re healthy - thereby defeating the purpose of cooking a healthy alternative in the first placeBlushGrin

Thanks folks, by my comment i meant that everyone should feel free to come and share their woes, just because you think someone else might be having it tougher, you should still come and share as it can help just to feel listened to.

I didn't mean, that it's not a competition so shut up :)

Definitely. There are a couple of good friends I feel unable to talk to just now as they weren't able to have children and probably won't ever so I don't feel I can say when I'm tired or finding breastfeeding tough or worried about my 4yo being lonely etc. It's nice to have a supportive anonymous thread to chat on and I hope everyone else here feels the same.

Good news always welcome to break the gloom. Bad news also welcome because misery loves company.

We are writing poetry in Scots today. Proud to say years of Oor Wullie have not been wasted. Only learnt this week that Makar is just Scots for Maker as in wordsmith.

Just catching up. Per pp it is not the case that hospitalisations are becoming younger. The ONS did a report this week.

That's great @WaxOnFeckOff, what a relief.
Almost a bit of excitement here as DH (rather reluctantly) did a zoom interview for The Nine. I think they were going for a nice little good news story about businesses that have done well during lockdown but DH got a mention in about how Brexit has undone all the good work so we'll have to see what stays in, not that DH will be watching himself, too cringy apparently!

WouldBeGood · 28/01/2021 13:10

Glad all well with Mr @WaxOnFeckOff

I’ve decided I need will power rather than a treadmill 😃

Thinking of investing in a wee summer house for my garden instead, as it looks like I’ll be at home quite a lot 😃

WouldBeGood · 28/01/2021 13:11

Oh, and go on Mr @Wbeezer!

shouldistop · 28/01/2021 13:13

@WouldBeGood we've been pondering a summer house pub for the garden too. I baulked at the prices I saw though.

anon444877 · 28/01/2021 13:17

DH convinced we'll break the ceiling if we attempt at home workouts - thanks darling!

runningpink · 28/01/2021 13:18

Great news @WaxOnFeckOff

And I totally understood what you meant in your previous comment.

I almost wish we could all get together, that would be a fun party!

I think offloading here helps, somethings you just can’t voice to friends at the moment. So thank you for listening folks.

Having a hug from my friend on a couple of occasions has been the one rule I have broken. But I don’t care as it’s been a lifeline for me.
It’s not the same as a ‘normal’ hug having to ask first, or being at breaking point sobbing so friend had no choice sort of thing but it’s physical human contact which I bloody need.

When I can hug her again properly i swear I will break her ribs from squishing her so much.

WouldBeGood · 28/01/2021 13:41

@shouldistop I know..I’ve been quoted £2k for one, all in.

littlbrowndog · 28/01/2021 13:48

Can children live in that summer house. I would pay 2k somehow for that

littlbrowndog · 28/01/2021 13:49

But then I don’t have my own garden 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

WouldBeGood · 28/01/2021 13:52

😂😂 You can send them down

Scottishskifun · 28/01/2021 14:03
@shouldistop I know..I’ve been quoted £2k for one, all in.
That's pretty cheap (especially if it includes power!) we were quoted 10k to replace ours so we fixed it ourselves! Wood alone was £700!

Having a summer house has been a blessing for us especially with seeing people in the garden as we had a place to sit with the door open

WaxOnFeckOff · 28/01/2021 14:09

I thought £2k was pretty cheap too. Down £600 this week for the car repair - could have had a quarter of a garden room for that....:o

WaxOnFeckOff · 28/01/2021 14:10

Do they get vey spidery? I have a bad phobia and DS2 is worse. That's always put me off.

StatisticallyChallenged · 28/01/2021 14:19

You need a summerhouse cat. Mine are excellent spider killers (which is good as I hate them too)

shouldistop · 28/01/2021 14:27

@WaxOnFeckOff ds1 has a wooden playhouse in the garden and I've never seen a spider in it. Of course that doesn't mean they're not there

I need a new cat then, mine is rubbish. She used to bring in a lot of live things, and then let them go, sometimes they were dead but often we then had to catch them. I once found a mouse sitting in her food bowl and she was just looking at it and watching it eat.

Grin

My grandma used to have a cat when they lived abroad that brought poisonous snakes home as presents. Sometimes not quite dead Shock
Apparently it was a vicious bugger that was half wild and hated everyone apart from her. My dad and his siblings were terrified of it.

In winter if not being used regularly then yes we tend to vacuum once a week which keeps them down
WaxOnFeckOff · 28/01/2021 14:45

Oh jeez, snakes! eek!

DHs very small family cat used to bring home rabbits - he's a countryside boy.

WaxOnFeckOff · 28/01/2021 14:47

oh man, do you then have to burn the hoover?

I think I am put off the idea again unless DH wants to get one to move in to.
