Is there an announcement tomorrow?

Is there an update on the stay at home order due tomorrow? I’ve completely lost where we are at. I’m currently on Furlough because of the stay at home order and being unable to WFH. Wondering is that will change tomorrow.

There’s an update, not sure what it’s about. She said today she’ll be addressing the cabinet about whether there needs to be further restrictions and then make an announcement. I think there’ll be an update regarding schools from what I’ve read. So depressing at the minute isn’t it.

Dontbetardy · 18/01/2021 18:00

Yes very much so. I am fortunate that I can be here to support DS with school work so I am grateful for that. Will see what tomorrow brings.

Definitely something on schools. She said she didn’t want to get parents hopes up for the Feb 1 return (but they hadn’t made the decision yet, but Swinney said before it was a tall order to get them back, but they aren’t going to pre-empt a decision, but cases are falling, but not falling ‘enough’ whatever ‘enough’ is...)

At this point I have resigned myself to being just-another-2-weeks-ed on this until September of 2035. But I’m holding out hope they might give us SOMEthing about what criteria they want before schools/nurseries go back. 1500 cases a day? 150? 15? Come on, we’re drowning here, give us something better than patronising shite on ParentClub to get us through.

Itsabloodybingthing · 18/01/2021 18:44

@GoldenOmber I feel exactly the same!! It’s hard not to know what they’re wanting before kids can go back. I worry for children in all of this.

Callisto1 · 18/01/2021 19:23

In late October we had 1700ish cases a day and schools were open. I know the situation now is more fragile with more people in hospital and ICU. I just wish they would give an indication of what is low enough. A week below 1000? Or a week below 500? Do they want to link it to vaccination? Because that will take ages if we wait for all over 50...

backaftera2yearbreak · 18/01/2021 19:24

I think the announcement will be there’s no change in anything 🙄. I’m so tired of all of this now. But it will be what it will be I guess.

Yeah I think the same, I can't see any changes being made tomorrow at all. I'm preparing myself for lockdown until March then back in to the tiers after that.
Itsabloodybingthing · 18/01/2021 20:37

I really could cry with it all. Feels a bit soul destroying

Peppafrig · 18/01/2021 21:06

I don’t think anything will change at all. The question is how long she will confirm schools are to be closed I think . I don’t think I could handle lockdown till March and then straight back to tier 4 in Glasgow . We have been under the highest restrictions since October . Or maybe it was September. It’s hard to tell it feels like forever.

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 18/01/2021 21:14

No visiting others' homes since September. No booze since October 9th. Sad We've barely had a break in 10 months.

Lidlfix · 18/01/2021 21:56

I am steeling myself to hear stay at home order remains in place and schools only for KW DC and vulnerable pupils till after Feb break. My over 75 DPs' (DF ECV too) have no sign of a vaccination and their hometown is a hotspot with a mobile screening unit set up for a few days. I fear for what this means for my S6 DD. I worry about my pupils. Selfishly, I am stressing over WTAF we are expected to do regarding an alternative qualification model. TES featured an article today saying the research on the impact of the new variant on children is not expected till the end of January . Sad

Itsabloodybingthing · 18/01/2021 23:07

I was hoping for them to say that younger children, at least, could return in February. It all just seems a bit bleak though.

thaegumathteth · 18/01/2021 23:41

Definitely all quite bleak

I can't see the kids going back any earlier than late feb tbh unless, as said above, younger kids go back sooner.

I can just about handle not having seen my mum in a year, no meals out and no socialising etc but I really really hate the effects on my kids - they're resilient but they're 14&10 are a year of their life so far has been this shite

WeAllHaveWings · 19/01/2021 00:35

Nurses at our local hospital are no longer taking calls from relatives to update them on family members, they don't have time and need to prioritise their resources dealing with patients. If you call you are put through to clinic staff who have been redeployed and take messages to pass on and give basic - they are being kept as comfortable as possible updates.

I know what it is like not being able to visit someone, but not getting any news from the nurses directly caring for them either is horrific. It doesn't make sense to lift restrictions until new hospital admissions and numbers of those currently in hospital decreases significantly.

OptOutRE · 19/01/2021 13:01

Haven’t heard anything yet...

wonderwhatshappening1978 · 19/01/2021 13:09

What time is Nicola on ?

Cismyfatarse · 19/01/2021 13:16

About 2.15 in parliament. Session starts at 2 with prayers and a couple of questions. Then her statement.

wonderwhatshappening1978 · 19/01/2021 13:51

Thank you

OptOutRE · 19/01/2021 14:01

Thanks CisMyFatArse

Itsabloodybingthing · 19/01/2021 14:31

Fingers crossed!!

Itsabloodybingthing · 19/01/2021 14:32

I could cry!!!

GoldenOmber · 19/01/2021 14:37

Can’t tell you how much I’m looking forward to another month of working from 7am-11pm between job and homeschooling with stir-crazy children round my feet, feeling like I’m failing at everything all the time.

England seems to be getting cases down even with nurseries open, but maybe our under-5s are just particularly infectious or something?

scotsllb · 19/01/2021 14:40

Yes why are our nursery's shut when England have them open? It's so hard for my household to homeschool, work and study when my 3 year old is bored and needing constant attention all day

BingBongToTheMoon · 19/01/2021 14:46

AT LEAST February 15th..... at least......shite

Dandelionflower · 19/01/2021 14:53

Aah shite.
