Oh would that would make me so upset I hope they have your dad at the top of the next list.

I hope Mr Groovee is doing ok? Flowers

I’m fighting that Groundhog Day feeling - every day is the bloody same all that changes is how much mud/slush I need to drag the kids through on our walk! I just want to go to a museum or a gallery for the day.
And “D”H is on my bloody list Angry

I head from someone at work that they put their 97 year old grandad down as a vaccine refuser as he is housebound.

Now I can see that logistically it makes sense to skip him in the first tranche as they really need to get big numbers done as fast as they can, but putting him down as a refuser means he will probably never get it, but allows NS to stand on her podium and say all over 80s have been done.

Proud of DF though, they sent him a letter to make an appointment and whilst on the phone he managed to get DM (83) included in the invite as well. Just hope they can drive to and from doctors surgery safely - did think about driving up to take them there and back, but don't want any chance of me infecting them with my big city germs.

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 15/01/2021 12:38

My dd finished today's work at 11am

Invisimamma · 15/01/2021 12:44

@wouldbegood could you meet another child at the park, or invite them to play at the house and call it 'informal childcare'. We have made this arrangement with one other family to ensure the children can keep socialising (and i get a bit of a to work in peace).

Groovee · 15/01/2021 12:57

Mr Groovee is currently in A&E. I was at the osteopath as my hip had been hurt when I slipped. The GP rang and told him to go straight to A&E. thankfully FIL was able to take him. So just a waiting game. He seemed perplexed that I told him to pack a bag,

WaxOnFeckOff · 15/01/2021 13:04

Given that numbers were dropping across the board before super margarine virus hit, and they are growing at double the rate in the west compared to the east again, surely they need to be actually understanding why this happens by now? I'm not being goady or blaming folks, just that if they say lock downs work and people are generally abiding then what factors are actually driving numbers? That would be good to know and they have an ideal comparison population to study.

And yes I know we probably know but ScotGov continue to skirt round issues and blame the population for wanting to put food on their table and also that staff in hospitals and other care settings etc are not necessarily doing all they should be and why this is - time pressure/resources etc

Hopefully that gives him the chance to get all the diagnostic tests he needs as quick as possible and gets some relief and sorry to hear about your own injury too. Groovee family in the wars Sad

Hope you get some news soon and that everything turns well.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 15/01/2021 13:28

Hope Mr Groovee is getting all the help he needs to be home with you soon. Hope the osteopath helped your hip too! Flowers

StatisticallyChallenged · 15/01/2021 14:00

That's pretty much exactly what happened with me @Groovee - I'd guess his liver test results will be out of range. If it's the same he should be pretty sharply taken to the surgical assessment bit.

anon444877 · 15/01/2021 14:02

Good luck mrgrovee - hope everything is ok

Dinnafashyersel · 15/01/2021 14:35

Best wishes to Mr & Mrs Groovee Flowers

Absolutely agree with this. Comes back to our discussion earlier in the week about cleaners. I compared the risk to the hugely higher risk from social care. JF saying today she is escalating the roll out of asymptomatic testing of social carers to end Feb from end March. ie it is NOT in place despite multiple carers going into multiple households multiple times a day. Many of the cared for and the carers will also have multiple interactions with the hospital and GP sector.

Unclear why this is so difficult but it does seem pretty pointless to crack down on domestic cleaners and takeaways for the general public when this is not in place.

WaxOnFeckOff · 15/01/2021 14:39

DH (nhs) has only been involved in regular testing over the last 2 weeks or so. It seems to have taken a long time to get anything rolled out.

I'm just sick of restriction on people who aren't the problem, aren't at risk and are probably already immune.

runningpink · 15/01/2021 16:20

@Groovee thinking of you both. Keep us updated.

Cismyfatarse · 15/01/2021 17:07

@Groovee Sending hugs.

@Invisimamma no, he’s twelve and in secondary! He met a friend out a couple of times last lockdown and old women kept shouting at them 🤷🏻‍♀️ Plus there’s nothing to do.

All the best @Groovee

Had this exact conversation with a friend today. I can't nip inside to collect our takeaway, I can't go for a walk with my friend and our two teenagers, but my elderly mil has untested carers in 4 times a day, 2 at a time, so at least 4 different people in and out the house every day.

It definitely feels to me like they are nit-picking at all the wrong things now and not addressing the most likely causes of spread. And it makes me pissed off and not really want to comply tbh. I will comply because I don't have much choice, everything is closed, but all the effort is going in the wrong direction I feel.

Invisimamma · 15/01/2021 17:28

That's rubbish, this is so tough on young people. Try to encourage him to get out for a walk with a friend, peer connection is so important.

WouldBeGood · 15/01/2021 17:29

Feeling exactly the same @Rae36

WouldBeGood · 15/01/2021 17:32

He’s quite obedient so gets upset and self conscious. Old people kept commenting on them being out- him and one other friend during the day, shouting that they weren’t social distancing, or on his own that he was taking up too much pavement, so the old person would die first. I will try! He can’t risk being seen with me, obviously😂

Invisimamma · 15/01/2021 17:55

@wouldbegood that's terrible he has been treated that way, he has just as much right to go for a walk and use the pavements as anyone else.

@rae36 I agree. Mil is a community nurse providing care to high needs individuals, feeding tubes, enemas, turning, bathing etc. She visited and cared for a patient who then tested positive for covid the next day, when she asked if she needed to isolate she was asked if she wore ppe (plastic apron and surgical mask), she did so no she doesn't need to isolate. She's in and out of many many houses of vulnerable people every day.

Dh had similar situation where an NHS employee tested positive but his work partner was told he didn't even need to isolate as he was presumably wearing ppe.

Groovee · 15/01/2021 18:44

Thanks everyone, he has a blocked bile duct and lots of gall stones. So his worst nightmare has happened. He's being kept in 🙈.

I'm hoping for a full nights sleep for once.

StatisticallyChallenged · 15/01/2021 18:47

Exactly what happened with me @Groovee. They might put him straight for surgery or they might put him on the list. I was original wait list but ended up going back to a&e again a week later as pain horrendous and they then bumped to semi emergency and did it 3 days later.

RaspberryCoulis · 15/01/2021 18:55

Poor bugger. I had a gallstone when my first baby was 3 weeks old and I've never been in so much pain in my life. Far worse than labour. He'll feel so much better when they whip it out.

StatisticallyChallenged · 15/01/2021 18:59

Mine went while I was pregnant with number 2. Was put down to indigestion... patronising twaddle. Then, like you @raspberrycoulis it went again when baby was about 3 weeks. Simultaneously infected c section scar, breastfeeding, and gallstones. I was that person on the ward with a newborn...
