Very true about reactions though! Someone would need to be there.

I just want normal back,

WouldBeGood · 12/01/2021 23:45

@kurtrussellsbeard me too. I’m feeling pretty desperate

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/01/2021 23:45

Does everyone need blood thinners? If so, I've got no idea how I got mine! :o

All I got was paracetamol and iron tablets, they kept on missing the drug run in hospital which was helpful.

I'd assume vaccine into a muscle but avoiding any veins/arteries but i really don't know.

StatisticallyChallenged · 12/01/2021 23:48

@kurtrussellsbeard

10 days worth of blood thinners. It's a modified needle so it's a plunger you just push in to your thigh. Not sure though if vaccines need to go into a muscle?
I'm afraid my raging needle phobia won with this and they were told to nash and that there was zero chance I'd be able to shove a needle in myself repeatedly. Especially when I'd had a c section previously- when it was only done for the couple of days in hospital- and after one dose my arm was black and blue. That time they sent a doc in to threaten that if it didn't let them do it in wouldn't be allowed another c section in future...
Lockdownbear · 12/01/2021 23:49

Vaccine seems to go into upper arm. But it can't be that much harder than firing it into belly.
Maybe it's more resistance with the plunger. Maybe more like injecting an orange than a tomato.

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/01/2021 23:50

It's the thinking about it all the time I want rid off. Low on milk? then need to think where will be quiet, remember mask and bag and one way system and tap to pay. Can't just think "fuck it" and go out for lunch, need to think and plan menu to have stuff in but in as few shops as possible. Can't go for a run in the car and pop the curtains my sister fancies down to her, pop the shoes across for my brother in law, meet my friends for a walk or god forbid, a drink in the pub. Go to the cinema or a swim or a wee weekend away etc etc. It's just so depressing and tiring.

WaxOnFeckOff · 12/01/2021 23:52

I'd think thigh/arse probably the safest in terms of not much else there than fat and muscle but not as user friendly in an open area. Though slightly less exposed than getting your boobs out for your mammogram :)

Lockdownbear · 13/01/2021 00:36

Not much in the balls of legs either and not as 'personal' as bum or thigh.
If it needs to go into a muscle, do they use longer needles for the people with a bit of chub to get past first?

WaxOnFeckOff · 13/01/2021 00:39

Maybe outer arm has less variety in terms of fat thickness so not as much of an issue for ensuring appropriate depth?

MamaTookMyEyebrows · 13/01/2021 01:29

Eep my husband gave me the post-c section jags. Fucker enjoyed it too HmmGrin

I dunno I mean I’ve been to out of hours at Kings Cross in Dundee a few times in the middle of the night with poorly babies. It’s always busy. Always a waiting room full of people. I think people would attend through the night for a vaccine. In the towns and cities anyway - I could see that remote rural locations might be more problematic.

KatySun · 13/01/2021 07:51

Wow, sweetkitty that sounds tough. I hope things settle down.
My resolution to get up early and start work before the children so I can get some out the way has gone to pot on day 3.

titsbumfannythelot · 13/01/2021 08:02

It's so much easier to get up when it's light @KatySun, this week won't be my most productive week I fear.

anon444877 · 13/01/2021 08:14

Is it only day 3 katy and kitty? Feels longer! I'm giving up and going to the park first this morning. Still drained from yesterday.

I believe Israel is getting younger people in towards the end of the day, I'd go at any time and so would my terrified parents but they're 70, I can see it wouldn't be for everyone to get up at strange times.

anon444877 · 13/01/2021 08:17

statistically that doesn't sound caring re nhs. Funny how you can get a dr to be told off but you have to discharge without prescriptions as dr to busy to sign them and go to the GP when you need painkillers...

The main difference when I had dc1 in the US was the number and kindness of the nurses.

Groovee · 13/01/2021 08:24

My day off today. I'm going to try and switch off for a few days from work. I'm exhausted post being in school.

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 13/01/2021 08:31

got an email about another interview, this afternoon. So I have 4 interviews in one week. Its looking more hopeful I will get an offer from one of them. Two of them are permanent home based roles (I don't want to go back to an office environment). So fingers crossed.

What time is Nipoleon on telly today?

WouldBeGood · 13/01/2021 08:33

Good luck @Iwillneverbesatisfied!

And enjoy your day off @Groovee

anon444877 · 13/01/2021 09:00

Fingers crossed iwill - perm home based sounds great!

runningpink · 13/01/2021 09:11

Good luck @Iwillneverbesatisfied

I had a look this morning and looked like maybe 12.30 as that was first ministers questions coverage?

Lockdownbear · 13/01/2021 09:12

Good luck Iwill

Anon was your care in the US private?
I think the biggest issue on maternity wards is short staffing, and as a result stressed staff. They need more people, not necessarily fully qualified MWs just more people who can lend a hand caring for babies to let mum recover.

blowinahoolie · 13/01/2021 09:12

Monday was stressful with coordinating puppy toilet training and homeschooling, plus keeping preschoolers entertained😬 but yesterday was much easier as we all knew what to expect. Days flying in so far. Just hope preschoolers get back to nursery next month 🤞

blowinahoolie · 13/01/2021 09:15

Not getting hung up on P6 DC not doing his school work. When it's dry we get out a walk. He can catch up on rainy days.

WouldBeGood · 13/01/2021 09:26

Scottish vaccination targets and actual progress

anon444877 · 13/01/2021 09:37

lockdown same care though if I'd rocked up as an emergency labour case - difference is no prenatal care and discharge immediately without insurance.

I'm not defending the right to not be insured, obamacare was a great day for America, the healthcare plan we had was part paid by us, part by employer and it was something like $250 dollars a month for our contribution - we pay a lot more in tax here for the nhs and other things. I'm a fan of a separate nhs tax personally.

It did look to me exactly like that, that the difference in care was staffing at so many levels. The nurse helped me get in the shower as I was a mess and could hardly stand up due to blood loss, that didn't happen here.

HadEnoughOfBears · 13/01/2021 09:49

@WouldBeGood

Scottish vaccination targets and actual progress
Can you tell me where that's from so I can have a look at it in the coming days?
