Waxcat being a fierce hunter.. Or rather, lying on the lawn....

Drowning in a sea full of tiers
Wbeezer · 09/01/2021 19:51

@WaxOnFeckOff i sometimes say she's a Siberian if people admire her but really she cost £35 from a farm in Menstrie. I wish she didn't bring mice in though.

Wbeezer · 09/01/2021 19:55

My Dad is getting the jab next week, unfortunately my Mum is 79 so they're out of synch but it can't be helped.

WaxOnFeckOff · 09/01/2021 19:58

How old is she? Waxcat was a regular mouser up until about 9 (she's now 12 and a half)- liked to bring them in alive and always hunted when it was raining. Brought in live birds as well. Then she stopped. She had a brief reprise in 2019 on DS2s first weekend back from Uni when she presented him with a big fat dead shrew - in his bed...

Wbeezer · 09/01/2021 20:40

Same age as Wax Cat. I have never had a mouse in the bed, thank god, but she often brings small slugs in in her fur and I sometimes find a silvery trail and dried up slug on my duvet cover! Our other cat the same age is very fat and lazy.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 09/01/2021 20:54

wax have you tried one of those grooming mits? They were the only thing that worked when one of ours got too old to groom her back properly (but she was shorter haired)

SIL & BIL met through teletext dating GrinGrin

I’m going to have to put up with DH sulking like a teenager because he couldn’t get on to the server he wanted for his game because I can’t work Facebook never mind OLD! Lucky my flat mate of 25 yrs ago brought his former schoolmate round one night...

WaxOnFeckOff · 09/01/2021 21:14

wax have you tried one of those grooming mits?

Yeah but I it was one in a cat christmas stocking and it wasn't a good fit and neither me or cat got on with it, but she is a pain in the arse anyway so probably not the mits fault...

DollyMixtureLulus · 09/01/2021 21:31

Ugh I need to get into online dating again. I also like Bumble. Fewer neds than on Tinder, but women need to message first.

runningpink · 10/01/2021 09:20

What’s everyone’s plans today? I’m meeting a friend for a walk so looking forward to some company.

The snow/ice is thawing here at last! Yay! I don’t actually mind the snow but feels like it’s been here forever now.

@DollyMixtureLulusif I decide to go for it we could be OLD buddies together if you want.

rookiemere · 10/01/2021 09:24

@runningpink I'm also delighted that the ice is thawing and am going to attempt my run outside today as I am so very bored running on the treadmill. Other than that I have no plans. Nicola would be proud of me.

WaxOnFeckOff · 10/01/2021 09:27

Morning @runningpink. A walk with friend sounds good :) I have no particular plans, probably just some housework. I've taken some lamb steaks out of the freezer and planning a casserole type thing with a sliced potato topping for dinner.

randomsabreuse · 10/01/2021 09:29

Most of the snow is gone here - phew. Actually I love fresh snow but well trodden half melted ice and black ice as it refreezes is rather less fun. Last night I needed to get out for some space as I really struggle with the constant noise and lack of solitude and it was slippery everywhere, lethal on our road and most pavements so I was glad to get back without any splats...

goodname · 10/01/2021 09:33

I will miss the snow, it was a good thing to get my kids out for a walk/sledge. A stomp through a muddy bog does not have the same appeal

MamaTookMyEyebrows · 10/01/2021 09:38

Dunno. Had a bad night with the kids so I’m tired today. Feeling stressed and anxious and tearful about the week ahead.

Lidlfix · 10/01/2021 09:46

Menu planning for a week of remote learning/teaching for DDs 3 and 4 and me! I have to get my weight under control so lots of tasty soups batched cooked today should help me. Also think I should try to separate out work day clothes from weekend clothes in an attempt to create better balance. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated. I was a mess last time round and determined to take better care of myself WFH.

I will have to shop, which I am a bit rubbish at, and see which DD I can bribe to come for a walk with me .

WaxOnFeckOff · 10/01/2021 09:51

I didn't take my own advice and I still fall out of bed and log on, but did recommend to a colleague that going for a walk round the block before work might imitate his commute and divide his home life from work life.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 10/01/2021 10:02

There is a Mac and cheese food truck parked up about a mile away so I might bribe the kids to walk there and back.

Apart from that - checking passwords and links for school tomorrow. Gah!

runningpink · 10/01/2021 10:03

Good luck and enjoy your run @rookiemere iv managed to run on the snow a few times this week thankfully.

I agree the snow is actually ok as you can still do stuff but the ice is the problem.

I’m still happy to offer up ideas for younger kids if anyone needs ideas to help keep them occupied.

@MamaTookMyEyebrows it sounds like you need a quiet day. Don’t put pressure on yourself to do much. Sending you a hug.

@Lidlfix I agree about getting a walk before work even if it’s just 5mins round the block. And again at lunch time a short walk would be beneficial. Il have a think about anything else you could do.

Iwillneverbesatisfied · 10/01/2021 10:04

Dying my own hair today. Wish me luck. Will either go well or be a disaster. Hairdressers all closed.

Still no word from dream job. It only closed on Friday but the longer I wait for news the more I worry I won't get it. argh.

Groovee · 10/01/2021 10:06

I need to get sorted as I'm back to work tomorrow. At least it's a later start and earlier finish as they don't want us in too long.

I'm off to get tidied in the kitchen. Started last night.

MamaTookMyEyebrows · 10/01/2021 10:19

Why are politicians etc using Twitter to communicate/announce stuff? Just thinking about this. I really don’t like it

Lockdownbear · 10/01/2021 10:23

I guess it's because they can cut out the middleman. Journalists aren't exactly known for keeping the story straight without cutting bit out totally changing whats been said.
Also less people buy papers.

Not sure I could focus on work knowing that was there! I love Mac and cheese
icanboogieboogiewoogie · 10/01/2021 10:42

I generally feel guilty when the DC and I don't go out all day so feel an urge for a walk today. One day in the house is more than enough! I'm NS's worst nightmare.

MamaTookMyEyebrows · 10/01/2021 11:29

I have gone back to bed to pull the duvet over my head.
