No one delivers to us (takeaway) as we too far out of town. Not hugely bothered as my stomach doesn’t do well with takeaways in general but could be a problem for lots of people who don’t live in towns and cities.
It does feel like she’s just desperate to shut things just now. I did click and collect from Argos this week (hoover and mop, pretty essential for having the kids off) it was very safe, no contact, no going inside the shop. Just as safe as a delivery. I did feel very sorry gut the staff working outside in the freezing cold though.
I’m currently veering like crazy between thinking a lot of restrictions are too far for peoples mental health (please don’t stop meeting people and travelling at all for exercise 😭) and being scared of the fast growing numbers and catching long COVID 😬
We were all very miserable in this house yesterday, forced ourselves out the house. Drove three miles for a lovely walk and then some sledging where the kids saw a couple of kids from school. Came home feeling so much better. If we can’t travel at all I feel so trapped, I just hate it.

mondaywine · 09/01/2021 08:53

@rookiemere my DD’s residential in May was never booked. They’ve all been cancelled for the year. I’m desperately concerned that at the other end of this there will be no outdoor education left.

RaspberryCoulis · 09/01/2021 09:01

She could stop herself travelling from Glasgow to Edinburgh every day to stand at her wee podium and lecture us. The absolute definition of non-essential.

Agree that banning takeaways and click and collect is madness. She is willy waving with Drakeford again to see who can be the hardest.

Rae36 · 09/01/2021 09:05

We've had a takeaway every Friday since lockdown began. At first it was to be our end of home-school week treat, now its a habit. A bad habit. Although the local chip shop has just put its prices up again so it needs to come off the list, especially if I get furloughed again. The fun never ends.

WaxOnFeckOff · 09/01/2021 09:07

@shouldistop I guess we will find out soon how easy it is to comb a cat!

She is just a moggie but has a longish very soft coat, in her latter years as a middle aged lady, she is slightly rotund and doesn't groom her back very well and she gets matts which need to be removed, brushing and using a deshedding thing isn't her favourite and doesn't always keep them at bay. She is currently matt free so ordered this new flexible comb thing to try.

Dinnafashyersel · 09/01/2021 09:12

My cooker broke during first lockdown. We don't have a microwave. No takeaways would have been a problem. I can walk to over a dozen different places. Me walking has got to be better than a delivery person traipsing from household to household.

Was enough of a problem to sort out making sure my gas and electric were safe and getting delivery and fitting of a new cooker within the rules without having nowhere to source hot food to contend with. Our local takeaways also did lots of morale boosting deliveries to the hospital with special discounts. They need regular trade to make this sort of thing viable.

The collateral damage to close down the odd outdoor coffee / ice cream is bizarre. (Actually I got a bout of low blood pressure close to fainting last time I was at the park with DD3. Coffee and cake is the most effective treatment - wish I'd thought to come out with money)

WouldBeGood · 09/01/2021 09:22

Exactly, @RaspberryCoulis

BBCONEANDTWO · 09/01/2021 09:44

Pardon my ignorance I've been searching twitter for news on this but all I can find is Sturgeon vs Salmond - has another announcement been made to close takeaways - does she mean actually CLOSE or just no collection. Gutted if they are all closed. I look forward to my Chinese at the end of a hard bloody weeks work.

WaxOnFeckOff · 09/01/2021 09:45

I think there were heavy threats on the latest broadcast but no announcement.

WouldBeGood · 09/01/2021 09:47

No announcement and I’m hoping she’ll want to keep a low profile to avoid Salmond questions

titsbumfannythelot · 09/01/2021 10:00

Is your job for a big company @Iwillneverbesatisfied? I work for a massive construction company and the hr function is fooked right now and taking way longer than it should for everything.

I'm hoping takeaway won't be banned, lots of people struggling to balance home/ work/ kids will really rely on that to have some sort of 'break'

Another one curious one as to the cat combing @WaxOnFeckOff

@titsbumfannythelot its a small social enterprise, only about 16 staff including the director. Not sure how long it takes for small businesses to make a decision as I worked in a large public sector organisation before. I have waited a long time for a job like this to come up and would be devastated if I didn't get it. I am currently unemployed too so really need something. All I can do is wait though.

Perihelion · 09/01/2021 10:06

Thanks Groovee, sounds similar to DD, who's had her top palate expanded, but her bottom jaw is too bigHmm. When asking why surgery was being offered, I was told it would improve her bite and her jaw line, aesthetically. Nothing about causing pain.

WaxOnFeckOff · 09/01/2021 10:06

This is what I've ordered for the cat

WaxOnFeckOff · 09/01/2021 10:08

2 of my nephews were offered jaw surgery to help with evening up their bite and aesthetics but neither took it. Neither were in pain.

iquitelikenormalityafterall · 09/01/2021 10:16

If they take away take aways they might find compliance gets even worse. It’s the making up of rules that can’t be conducive with stopping the spread that I really can’t stand. There’s limited evidence that the restrictions we are under at the moment will make a difference on hospitalisations. It just feels like we are staying at home so they look like they are doing something. More restrictions will just be about making people even more miserable and have limited impact on case numbers.

Wbeezer · 09/01/2021 10:24

@WaxOnFeckOff do let us know how you get on with that comb, i keep getting Facebook ads for it and our fluffy cat has the same issue as yours, i keep cutting mats out with nail scissors which makes her look a bit motheaten! She's a bit bitey with anything but light grooming too.

WaxOnFeckOff · 09/01/2021 10:31

Yep, same with the nail scissors here @wbreezer. I kept seeing ads too but it was cheaper on the dreaded Amazon.

She's taken to liking sitting on knees and getting petted so hoping she'll tolerate this.

Due to arrive today so I'll update later.

Her pain wasn't there originally it developed later on. She has quite a pronounced chin which she hates. She had braces on at 13/14 to sort her smile out and to reduce the work required now. As her baby teeth didn't fall out right away etc so lots of gaps. It helped to cut down how long she would need braces on now. Nearly a year of no treatment, they are now needing tightened up a bit. We had it planned last year I would stay on supply to care for her post surgery. This year I have a permanent role. It will be hard.

Well no outdoor coffee for me this morning- their water pipes had frozen

Oops. Hubby kept the heating on all night as a plumber/heating engineer. I was too hot.
MamaTookMyEyebrows · 09/01/2021 11:28

So what big plans do you all have for today? 😬

Groovee · 09/01/2021 11:30

I'm going to leave Las Bedroom and settle myself in Costa de Living Room I think.

I believe Dd is making a chicken and chorizo pasta for dinner.
