what about those who struggle to get to the shops and those who are vulnerable? they rely on takeaways, click and collect, grocery deliveries etc. She might as well ban amazon, royal mail, hermes and all the rest.

I hope it is just speculation though.

Tomorrowisanewday · 08/01/2021 22:22

I'm sick of all these threats - I'm in construction, she can't close us down again Sad She doesn't seem to realise that can't be done overnight

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 08/01/2021 22:25

I think now it's been mentioned that's it for takeaway and click and collect. She likes to drip these ideas to soften us up. Another kick in the teeth for hospitality.

You'd think delivery will still be allowed, but the surcharges are so high and it tends to take much longer.

ladylunchalot · 08/01/2021 22:34

Hope it doesn't mean supermarket click and collect, I'm totally converted and it's stress free. Must admit I was surprised that Matalan are open for click and collect although it was nice to be able to pick up my sale top.

AgentCooper · 08/01/2021 22:35

Christ, why ban takeaways? Did The Science not recently confirm that transmission via surfaces was a tiny possibility and therefore washing your shopping was a load of balls?

I hate the drip feeding too and I think, seriously, she needs to consider what this kind of approach does to people’s wellbeing. Rumours start, leaks happen, she says nothing and then a week later we get new restrictions or nothing changes. It gives people time to worry without being able to do anything about it, it crushes morale, makes us feel like we’re being played with.

StatisticallyChallenged · 08/01/2021 22:36

Yeah, once it's been dripped it'll probably happen. Even more people furloughed or out of work - and in many cases it will be out of work as furlough isn't free. Especially if it's relatively easy-to-train and recruit work

MamaTookMyEyebrows · 08/01/2021 22:46

If she closes McDonalds I’ll riot

Tomorrowisanewday · 08/01/2021 22:49

It's very difficult for us to recruit staff, but if there's no money coming in, if she's shut the industry down, the reduced furlough doesn't count for anything. We have rent, rates, utilities, insurances, indemnities, service contracts, etc to pay and there's nothing to cover any of that.

The anxiety It's giving me has reactivated an ulcer that I'd managed to wean myself of off drugs for three or four years ago Sad

Ebhc · 08/01/2021 22:52

I really hope they don't ban takeaways, one of the only things we can look forward to these days!

StatisticallyChallenged · 08/01/2021 22:53

I'm sorry @Tomorrowisanewday - I really wasn't being flippant, we're paddling a similarly leaky canoe with half an oar and no map or compass.

Staff tend to think "but there's furlough, it's fine". They don't see everything else, costs and your own income which isn't bloody covered for most business owners

WouldBeGood · 08/01/2021 22:55

Please don’t let her ban takeaways. Restaurants are trying so hard

StatisticallyChallenged · 08/01/2021 22:55

@MamaTookMyEyebrows

If she closes McDonalds I’ll riot
What danger is there in a fucking drive through ffs. Yes, the staff in the restaurant I guess but it's a relatively small number and from what I've seen pretty well set up.

We're going to have no economy left

MamaTookMyEyebrows · 08/01/2021 22:57

Remember the queues when opened back up the last time Shock

Lockdownbear · 08/01/2021 22:59

She's an absolute tit if she shuts stuff with no hard evidence. Take aways are one of the few pleasure left.

What's the difference between click n collect and ordering from Amazon?

Amazon will be the winners!

I really really hope people remember what she did come the election. Totally ruined the economy, and people's MH. All so she can go a step further in her shag me shoes.

WaxOnFeckOff · 08/01/2021 22:59

At the risk of giving ideas, we can still buy alcohol, go outside with no masks, not socially distance or wear masks in our own home, have cars serviced, exercise more than once a day, cross borders up to 5 miles for exercise, travel within our entire council area for essential exercise, go out more than once a day, meet one other person outdoors and I'm sure other stuff that could all be on the hit list

Tomorrowisanewday · 08/01/2021 23:02

Oh, I didn't think you were, StatisticallyChallenged - I was just having a bit of a rant to myself as much as anything, it's been a difficult week. Wasn't directing it at you, sorry if I came across like that

Lockdownbear · 08/01/2021 23:02

But yes she did suggest vaccinating teachers first but thats been met with a legal challenge.

Vaccinating teachers gives them protection but doesn't actually help the NHS or stop asymptomatic spread amongst kids or them taking it home.

MamaTookMyEyebrows · 08/01/2021 23:04

Ohh I hadn’t heard it had been met with a legal challenge! that’s interesting

Lockdownbear · 08/01/2021 23:12

Look it up on BBC, I think the priority groups have been set in UK law.

StatisticallyChallenged · 08/01/2021 23:14

No worries, it's a shit week isn't it. Back to analysing the cashflow, trying to work out when things will get better and see how long the bank account will last...
Twintub · 08/01/2021 23:27

Maybe she means takeaways where you go q up not home delivery otherwise she would really need to ban amazon etc too I would say include Hermes but they deliver just better to the right place

Twintub · 08/01/2021 23:28

*never

I do wish you could edit posts

Lockdownbear · 08/01/2021 23:32

news.stv.tv/politics/coronavirus-vaccines-for-teachers-could-be-fast-tracked?top

I can't find it now on BBC, but they're was definitely some sort of legal challenge.

ItsIgginningtolookalotlikeXmas · 08/01/2021 23:34

Who from?

Lockdownbear · 08/01/2021 23:43

That's what I can't remember. But it made me think that the priority groups were set in UK law, so changing it is more than an ethical dilemma
