Hugs to those feeling down.
I'm trying to figure out why I'm so perky - I feel out of step with the rest of you and it's not my natural disposition. I'm wondering if it's because I've gone alcohol and chocolate free for January. Sugar does wild things to my constitution and chocolate is about the only sweet thing I like so I'm practically sugar free atm.

I'd ordered some St Johns Wort to get me through the worst of this but at the minute thankfully I don't need it. Still I'm sure things can get worse - I was only joking about this being my last walk with a friend but do you think she will stop us meeting outside. That's what I found the hardest last time and ended up covertly meeting my pal outside.

WaxOnFeckOff · 08/01/2021 10:47

I can't work twitter, maybe that could be one of my goals :)

We have a long list of stuff that needs done and DH popped his head round as he was leaving today to say his exhaust is making a loud noise and so is the boiler. I fixed the boiler by closing the panel door properly - it was slightly open and vibrating Hmm I think a car exhaust is not my area of expertise though.

he's had the car for nearly 10 years from new and loves it and promised me that as soon as it starts to need things fixed, he'll change it. I'm not believing him. Its had a few things done recently, all just normal stuff like brake pads, new tyres etc, all just general maintenance but still, I think the time is coming soon....

WaxOnFeckOff · 08/01/2021 10:49

I usually meet with two friends and it feels bad to meet with them one at a time. I just wouldn't want to be reported for 3 of us being in a group. Bonkers. So upshot is none of us has been out :(

Lockdownbear · 08/01/2021 10:50

I really hope they don't stop people meeting outside but for someone whose gone to work, stood on her soapbox daily, met loads of folk, she has no clue what the loneliness and isolation is doing to people.

But I think it would be horrific for them to return to that or to close play parks or to stop primary kids play.

Lockdownbear · 08/01/2021 10:53

It's a nice morning her and I've only got a couple of hours to do then I can get the LO out.
One of the tough things this week has been the dark nights, by the time we finish work it's dark, too dark to take the LO out so he's not been out for days.

littlbrowndog · 08/01/2021 10:58

Yes lockdownbear

It’s shite when being at home all time. And then when weather is pants 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

runningpink · 08/01/2021 11:01

@Lockdownbear I’m still here reading away. The school stuff doesn’t affect me hence the silence!

I’m ok, bit calmer than I have been and I didn’t cry yesterday.
Just really struggling to find any positives or anything to look forward to yet again. This constant existing rather than living.

I get the impression my friends and family are fed up of me and think I just need to get on with things and be happy. Currently can’t see anything worth smiling about really.

It’s ok for them though, they have family at home and are still working either at home or at work. So they have a sense of purpose, they see or interact with people daily etc.

rookiemere · 08/01/2021 11:03

It gives me the rage when I see both the SG and BG in parliament. At the very least they could wear masks when not speaking- actually when speaking as well might be an improvement for most of them. No idea why they can't just do online meetings like the rest of us - if it's because it's hard to make nuanced and difficult decisions when not in a room together, well that's no different to my job then.

Someone made a really good point on one of these threads and just now - if your life has scarcely changed it's hard to imagine what it's like for the rest of us.

WouldBeGood · 08/01/2021 11:06

It’s rich that they’re complaining about too many people on the roads given where they live and travel to.

runningpink · 08/01/2021 11:07

Off topic but does anyone have any recommendations for snow boots? Preferably will fast delivery. Iv found one pair I like but it’s middle of next week even with fastest delivery.
Fed up of cold and wet feet with trail shoes or slipping around in wellies.

WouldBeGood · 08/01/2021 11:08

@runningpink you’ve described the feelings of hopelessness perfectly 💐 It’s not just you

Lockdownbear · 08/01/2021 11:08

Running pink, why not ask the couple who offered to bubble with you if they are still up for it and if they want to come to yours on Saturday night ?

Lockdownbear · 08/01/2021 11:10

My snow boots have OC grips on them, basically wee spikes that can be flipped over.

Rae36 · 08/01/2021 11:10

The situation is bonkers and I just can't give it headroom all day every day anymore

That's exactly where I'm at right now too. I don't understand it, I can't make sense of it, I'm just ignoring it. Obviously it's right in my face so it's hard to ignore but you know what I mean. I can't think about it any more.

Someone made a really good point on one of these threads and just now - if your life has scarcely changed it's hard to imagine what it's like for the rest of us

And this, I have a good pal whose kids are older and living away from home, she still goes into work every day, still goes out to walk her dog. I think she thinks I'm exaggerating about how much my life has changed, she doesn't get it at all. It's tricky, I talk to her much less now which is a shame.

WaxOnFeckOff · 08/01/2021 11:13

@runningpink depends how big your feet are but I always found Next snow boots for kids to be great and when they got to bigger sizes I stole them :)

These one go up to a 6 and seem to be in stock - usually fast delivery from Next

rookiemere · 08/01/2021 11:13

Those sound like good boots @Lockdownbear . I have yak trax things I can put over walking boots, but it's a bit of a faff and sometimes they flip off. What brand are they ?

WaxOnFeckOff · 08/01/2021 11:19

or these up to a 7 and in stock in most sizes:

runningpink · 08/01/2021 11:19

I have giant man sized feet unfortunately!

Annoyingly the website I have seen the boots I like in actually have a shop in town but it will be closed cos of lockdown.

I have managed to arrange to meet some people over the weekend for walks so I’m hoping that will give me the much needed boost I need.

Lockdownbear · 08/01/2021 11:23

All I can see on them is raintex, I know some £££ boots have them but mine were definitely not silly money.

WaxOnFeckOff · 08/01/2021 11:24

walks sound good, have you tried supermarket etc for boots? Goretex socks inside your trail shoes?

WaxOnFeckOff · 08/01/2021 11:25

Maybe a waterproof treatment for your trail shoes? Might be able to get that more quickly.

runningpink · 08/01/2021 11:29

Trails are falling apart so really need to keep them for running and not everyday wear like I’m currently doing. As I can’t get more of those until shops open as need to be properly fitted.

I think I may have found a pair. Depending if they will deliver fast 🤞🏻

WaxOnFeckOff · 08/01/2021 11:30

Oh fingers crossed!

runningpink · 08/01/2021 11:41

Ordered.
Says delivery within 7days so will keep fingers x they arrive fast. Thinking/hoping the 7days is to cover their backs so to speak.

WaxOnFeckOff · 08/01/2021 11:59

yes, good chance that be less than 7 days, their arrival will herald a non seasonal heatwave :o
