titsbumfannythelot · 06/01/2021 17:05

I think I need the extra firmness to support me during that biannual event

WouldBeGood · 06/01/2021 17:06

😂😂

Lockdownbear · 06/01/2021 17:11

one that's on a bunk bed?

That might explain why older kids mattress is in better nic than the younger ones. Hmm
Def don't need to take bonking into account.

DH and I were at a do, with a long table, with a long bouquet of flowers, looked like it belonged on a coffin. End of the night someone lay on the floor with it on top of them!
A few months later we're at a funeral - the flowers were exactly the same, same colour everything. We spent the entire service trying not to look at the flowers!!!🤣🤣🤣

RaspberryCoulis · 06/01/2021 17:12

I find that foam mattresses are way too hot. You sort of sink into them rather than lie on the top, I find. Not a great mix with an over-insulated house and and peri-menopause.

rookiemere · 06/01/2021 18:13

We bought a Tempur foam mattress from Dreams - DHs idea as he had a bad back at the time . It was fine for going asleep but when I woke up during the night it felt rather like being enveloped by the marshmallow man. I don't think we tried any conjugal matters on it as ended up deciding pretty fast to return through the Dreams 40 night guarantee at the time and as you could exchange but couldn't get any money back we have the worlds most expensive non memory foam mattress.

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/01/2021 18:23

We have a John Ryan one that's pillow springs with latex on top. It doesn't get all hot like memory foam

WaxOnFeckOff · 06/01/2021 18:44

We just want a good pocket sprung mattress, firm or extra firm, no pillow top, no latex, no foam and preferably with a natural fibre/wool padding and cover. Still no guarantee that DH won't be allergic to it but that's the starting point. He's still done nothing and as I am not really sleeping at the moment so probably in it about 4 hours a night, i'm not fussed...

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/01/2021 19:03

Defo try john ryan, they do lots and a quick glance shows some natural fibre options. They're very good, will even ask weight to help get right firmness

blowinahoolie · 06/01/2021 19:07

Bought our John Lewis bed two years ago now. Very comfortable mattress. Sprung one, no memory foam. Last one was memory foam, wasn't keen on going there again.

WaxOnFeckOff · 06/01/2021 19:09

See, you folks give the best recommendations and then I remind myself that I'm leaving him to do it. I think the way to go is like trying to make a toddler get dressed, I'll present a few options and get him to pick one :o

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/01/2021 19:15

It's the only way, you'll be sleeping badly in the same mattress next year otherwise

WaxOnFeckOff · 06/01/2021 19:24

yep. He's one of those that will leave something somewhere and say, "just leave that, i'll deal with it later," only later never comes, the item becomes invisible until i deal with it and then all of a sudden he can't find whatever it is... Hmm

He had the cheek to comment that he'd got up to the loo at the back of 4 and struggled to get back to sleep. I said "I know, i hadn't even got to sleep at that point". he did manage to snore away until half 6 though.

StatisticallyChallenged · 06/01/2021 19:45

Is there anything more annoying than a snoring husband who claims they couldn't sleep???

titsbumfannythelot · 06/01/2021 19:51

Thrush?

Nope!! I get that he's maybe not having quality sleep cos hes' snoring but it drives me up the wall. All i need is about 10 minutes peace when i first go to bed in order to drop off, I need to be tired when i go to bed and if I get dropped of quickly, i can have a reasonable sleep and wake up ok. If I can't drop off then i just get annoyed and the more annoyed I am the harder it is to relax and drop off. I'd got into a pretty good routine recently but I fucked it up over Christmas as stayed up too late. It's as much my fault as his. he's not doing it deliberately (i say that to myself at night while I'm plucking hairs from his arm with a pair of tweezers to get him to shut up) Kicking and punching has no effect anymore.
WaxOnFeckOff · 06/01/2021 19:52

@titsbumfannythelot

Thrush?
Blackbird? Robin?
titsbumfannythelot · 06/01/2021 20:05

I find Batman more irritating than Robin.
