@rookiemere I feel really sorry for teenagers and young adults, they should be out having fun with their mates but now they have this and blamed when they crack and break the rules for their own sanity.

Bikingbear · 04/01/2021 16:56

Anon I don't know that the further school shutdown was as much heavily leaked more it was easy to read between the lines.

Pre Christmas the announcement was national T4 from 26th schools closed until 11th online until 18th. All blamed on spready strain.

The NHS is normally bursting at seams in January / February, throw in a super spready novel virus and it's not going to go well.

Experience tells us they don't give teachers prep time for nothing, generally teachers are meant to magic stuff up over night.
If they'd given 1 inserve day I'd have thought a 7 teaching days online.
3 in service days - no chance were teachers getting that ti prepare for 5 days online.
@Peppafrig is she actually prioritising teachers? God that was just a guess on my part! Is there a vaccine plan? Does anyone have a link?
@kurtrussellsbeard
Great minds think alike: I suggested this yesterday lunchtime. For me, it's a means of reopening schools and getting people back to work as normally as possible - including parents! I wrote: "Teachers first, then shop assistants, then hospitality workers, with people who can reasonably WFH last."

I'm retired now, so I can stay in my house and do nothing for a bit longer, but people who are working should get the vaccine before me (especially the vulnerable/shielding). Just my tuppence worth.

LoopyGremlin · 04/01/2021 16:59

Just reading the new documentation and came across this. Does this mean my child could go into her friend’s home?! Surely not, but that’s how it reads.

I was just going off what she said today. I think she said the health minister would give all the details tomorrow .

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 04/01/2021 17:03

I've just switched on my non-Christmas fairy lights to compensate for the fact that we took the tree down today. Have left up as many lights as DH will let me I can to try to get us through this winter.

She definitely said today that they were considering vaccinating teachers. Now people will hate us even more. Grin

kurtrussellsbeard · 04/01/2021 17:05

I think that vaccinating teachers is probably a good thing though to get the schools back open safely.

TimeforLaChange · 04/01/2021 17:05

I'm not pro SNP, in fact I can't wait to see the back of them. I still don't think it's ok to use gendered insults - especially when the person dishing it out thinks they are hilarious and original, it's just as boorish as when you call women a Karen, shrill, bossy etc.

As for the use of the term, a quick Google will provide the results. And whataboutery re. people calling Boris a wanksock does not make it ok.

WouldBeGood · 04/01/2021 17:06

Personally I think they should vaccinate people who might die. So old people and clinically vulnerable. Then it doesn’t matter who else gets the virus

WouldBeGood · 04/01/2021 17:07

@TimeforLaChange just to be clear, Wanksock is Hancock

Ah ok then Smile

MamaTookMyEyebrows · 04/01/2021 17:10

Well I have just found this thread and I genuinely feel like I have found my people Grin

House moves exempt and going ahead according to the guidance so I’m happy with that.

Vaccine roll out is nowhere near fast enough. Can’t help but wonder what the issue is. Less than a million by end Feb?!

WouldBeGood · 04/01/2021 17:10

😃

MamaTookMyEyebrows · 04/01/2021 17:10

Think I’ll have myself a wee sherry

titsbumfannythelot · 04/01/2021 17:11

I don't know anyone who hates teachers @icanboogieboogiewoogie, I really feel for them with ever changing goal posts. I'd rather my kids were in school but not much I or the teachers can do about that.

I think I'm in the majority with that view too.

MamaTookMyEyebrows · 04/01/2021 17:11

Really happy with vaccinating teachers promptly. Will be unimpressed if large numbers refuse it and still complain though.

ssd · 04/01/2021 17:14

I think teachers will be taking up the vaccine in droves. They must feel so vulnerable.

Bytheloch · 04/01/2021 17:15

@PapsofJura the young kids can only play together outside with one other household, because the adults can only be a max of two adults meeting. Or unless you mean the parks will still be open? Over 12s have to behave like adults, so only two meeting at once.

ItsIgginningtolookalotlikeXmas · 04/01/2021 17:18

I know this might not be much consolation for having dc at home for a month, but if they were in school in January they would have been bloody freezing! It was cold enough keeping rooms well ventilated in December, before the snow..

ItsIgginningtolookalotlikeXmas · 04/01/2021 17:19

Mama posts like yours suggest a strong dislike for teachers, to be honest. Why would you even say that?

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 04/01/2021 17:20

I don't think a lot of people on here do. Many in the general populace are keen to share the view that we're a mob of Skiving bastards, clocking on at 9, off at 3 with 40-odd weeks holiday. If you can download a worksheet from twinkle, you can be a teacher. Smile
ikswobel · 04/01/2021 17:20

@Bytheloch @LoopyGremlin I think that means children don't have to distance indoors if they are in key worker hubs or care settings? Don't think they are allowed to go over to each other's houses 😪

Bikingbear · 04/01/2021 17:21

Oh well there's a sods law - I prepared for DS being freezing and bought thermals that he won't need Grin. I fucked that up, if I hadn't bought them you could guarantee with my luck they'd have every size but his, and he'd be moaning he's cold.
MamaTookMyEyebrows · 04/01/2021 17:22

I don’t dislike teachers at all. I have nothing whatsoever against them. I’m related to many and have heard some rumblings about “oh so-and-so is saying she doesn’t want the vaccine because...”

Bytheloch · 04/01/2021 17:23

I love this thread and Scotsnet in general because of the opposing views. Twitter and FB are just echo chambers.
Happy to have a truce on name calling but not on making the SG/SNP any less accountable than the tories, ditto Nicola and Boris, they both want the accolade as leaders when it suits, they need to take the rough edge of that title too. Neither ‘care’ for people above their career and reputation/personal brand, but one is just better than the other at sounding like they do. I also think neither of them will still be in their current jobs this time next year🤷‍♀️

Now, let’s talk about mattresses again...
